Summary: Not the bio of Betty Crocker but...
Review: A very exciting book for anyone who loves dangerous and daring women. I do think that some of the reviews on here reflect the jealousy in others as opposed to the actual content of Rebel Heart. People can be so catty and someone like Bebe Buell has probably had to deal with that her entire life. And what a life! Coming out of a time in history where hippies ruled and "live for today" was the motto, Rebel Heart never skips a beat. You feel the innocence of the 60's, the rebellion of the 70's, the recklessness of the 80's, the growing up in the 90's and finally in a new century, the fullfillment of a life well lived. Bebe Buell has been many things- a model, rock singer, recording artist, manager, agent, mother, animal activist, vegetarian(avid), best selling author, creative consultant, wife. And now a spokesperson for all women over 40. "Fifty and fabulous" is a well deserved title for this next part of Buell's life to come. I respect the fact that she doesn't take getting older lying down but instead she embraces it by becoming a model again with one of the top modeling agencies in the world! We need more woman like Bebe and we need more books like Rebel Heart and any follow ups that come in the future. I for one would like to know how to be fifty and fabulous and stay happy and vibrant. I bet Bebe could tell us and I bet we will listen.

Summary: Let's hear it for self affirmation!
Review: Bebe Buell comes across as a selfish, egotistical, wanna be in this book. It took me forever to slog through this tripe. I'm sure there is a story worth telling about her life and experiences, but she certainly didn't do a good job of telling it. I was initially excited about the prospects of this book as I was coming of age in the early seventies and a huge rock music fan. I also remember her centerfold from Playboy as one of the first I'd seen. She presented an exciting and beautiful image, and the prospects of reading about this woman who was a muse and not a groupie was enticing. However, my initial elation waned as I read. This should be a text book in how not to lead one's life. Based on this book, she needs to get into therapy with Stuart Smalley, after all, "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!"

Summary: The "TRUTH" about "Rebel Heart"(AAR&RJ)
Review: Bebe Buell wrote a book about being a groupie like Doris Day would write a book about having sex with Rock Hudson. She says nothing of interest...unless you're buying her book in order to learn all about how she keeps herself not looking her age through not smoking, drinking, taking drugs, or over eating.

Review: Can I get a witness? I have read Rebel Heart and I want to review it here because I get so tired of the lies about this book. Jealous much? That should be the heading of some of the takes on this wonderful tome about a very interesting and unique woman. I had no idea that Ms. Buell had just turned fifty until I read it here but if that is the case- YOU ROCK woman! Considering the book actually came out in 2001, I find it very cool that she still gets a rise out of people- good and bad!
For me, Rebel Heart is honest and filled with lessons. For those who cannot resist comparing it to "I"m With The Band" please take into consideration that Pamela Des Barres wrote her book about a specific time- her youth. Ms. Buell's book covers alot more ground. It starts and ends having gone over her entire life, not just the innocence of youth. I suggest if you want some of the Miss Pamela "horror stories" of her adult life then read "Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart". I do not think that "Rebel Heart" was meant to be a "groupie" book and I did not get that from it. It is so much more. Ms. Buell had longterm relationships with most of the men discussed. She covers single motherhood which is never easy for anyone. She then comes into her own and finds happiness and fullfillment in her personal life. It is pretty great how she finally finds love and security.
I watch alot of TV and read alot of magazines and Bebe Buell is a mainstay in most medias. Her appearances on pop culture devoted shows are expected and her opinion is valued in those circles. I for one NEVER miss something if I know she will be on it.
I also find it pretty cool that she is modeling at the age of fifty. That says alot and it is a great message. Just keep doing what you love no matter how old you are. As a man, I find that most attractive and sexy. She is growing older with class and dignity. I find her relationship with her daughter to be one of the nicest parts of her entire story. Her family ties are solid and so is her future. I think she has alot more to offer and I look forward to more books, more TV appearances and more modeling. How about a new record too. That would make this fan very happy indeed.

Review: I honestly don't know what to say about this book. Bebe Buell has lived a life that many would be envious of, or would at least find entertaining. However, in her book you wind up feeling sorry for her, as she relives a past full of disillusionment, sex, and rock and roll. There is an interesting story in here somewhere. However, it is poorly written, constructed, and edited in this book.

I have no doubt Bebe would be fun to talk to, and has some good stories to tell. However, she should have picked an assistant writer who would have reined her ego in and let the story out. I was extremely disappointed to read a book that I had so looked forward to reading.

Summary: "Rebel Heart" is a very HEAVY book!
Review: I just bought this book because I saw it on Courtney Love's Hole website as one of her faves right now. Well, I can see why she likes it because this Bebe Buell is just as nutty as she is!! But I really liked the book anyway! It was fun to read about the times in the 70's and all the stuff that i was too young to experience. But, this woman went through so much HEAVY stuff in her life!! I don't get it that she had the chance to be with all these gorgeous guys and she loved Elvis Costello so much when he is far from attractive. I guess love isn't about looks! But anyway, the photo of the new guy in her life is real cute! He is very attractive! I hope she is happy now after such a crazy life! I had never even heard of her before but I am going to go see her band play in the City next time they play now because of this book and Courtney's endorsement. I think that this is a good book and I recommend it highly. I really liked the photos and Bebe's attitude. She is a spit-fire as my dad would say. I can't believe that this is Liv Tyler's mother. She doesn't look old enough to be anyone's mother!! Well, see ya and this is a cool web site!

Summary: Still Shining Brightly, A Survivors Tale
Review: I just finished this book and was so excited I jumped on here to review it. I loved everything about it. I saw some typos- little stuff but all in all it was so entertaining that I was on the edge of my seat. I think anyone who buys this will not be unhappy. The photos are really pretty too. What a life Bebe Buell has lead. Five stars +++

Summary: Rock grrrl at heart- "Rebel Heart" is true blue/buell
Review: If I didn't know better, I would think that Bebe Buell was from another planet. A better planet than earth. A planet of love and music. A place where everyone is beautiful and no one gets their heart broken. The only thing is, Bebe Buell was brave enough to tell us about the imperfect parts of the rock life. The parts where your heart gets stomped on and where love does not always win or rule. I really appreciated this book for that honesty and because there was a real person behind the pain and rejection. Of course, there are the wonderful stories, all the laughs and giggles, the great photos, the very human mistakes, glamourous people, and most importantly, Bebe herself.
I highly recommend this book to all rocker girls who dream of marrying a rockstar. My advice , run for the hills!! Its not all its cracked up to be for sure. I'm just glad that Bebe survived to tell the tale and relive those fantastic times long passed. Buy the book for the cover alone. It is just fantastic, like Bebe and her terrific story. Rock on, Rebel Heart!

Summary: Steven Tyler fan who enjoyed the book!
Review: If you want a goody-goody glossed over book, don't buy this! Bebe Buell is no Sandra Dee, OK?! Those of us who came of age in the '70's and know anything about rock culture may already have a clue about Buell! I'm an Aerosmith fan, first and foremost, who read about Bebe's book in the BOSTON GLOBE and NEWSWEEK first. I've read some of the negative reviews mentioned and, believe me, they often take Bebe out of context! Take it from someone who's read Rebel Heart more than once! Like someone else mentioned, I too have gone back and re-read certain bits. My eyes pop out over some of the more glaring mis-quotes and over the top out-of-context "reviews". I love Aerosmith and was not disappointed by this book. Not only did I get to read about Steven Tyler, I got an inside look into a woman I grew up seeing on the pages of Creem magazine! I always wondered what it's like to be Bebe Buell. There is glamour, but a lot of sadness too. As for "someone" (Todd) being given the boot by Bebe after years of raising a child not his own....give me a break, those of us who actually READ the book (as opposed to skimming) will not soon forget Steven Tyler's phone call to Todd Rundgren concerning Liv. Steven suggests he and Todd BOTH be Liv's dad. Doesn't sound like "the boot" to me! And really, does anyone believe it would've been just for Steven and Liv to be apart FOREVER? Bebe doesn't trash Steven or Todd. She doesn't put them on a pedestal either. There are no perfect people in this book. NOBODY is portrayed as perfect, especially not Bebe herself. She admits to a LOT of her mistakes. It's true she hasn't gotten over Elvis Costello, and she does think he continues to write songs about her. I'm not going to say bad things about her over this, because she probably feels bad enough already, to believe it in the first place! We've all had our hearts broken at least once, some of us don't get over it, have a little mercy. Bebe really put herself out there, in a position to be knocked down with this book, because she doesn't gloss over a lot of complex issues. She wears her heart on her sleeve over Elvis. It's true Bebe doesn't "inject humour" throughout, but SO WHAT? When you are reading about Papa John Phillips and his wife, and Bebe describes their narcotic addictions, you don't really expect humour to be injected into it. Especially when Bebe finds a hypodermic needle underneath their baby, and has to pick glass out of their young child's feet! Or Steven Tyler having convulsions due to narcotic use. This book is not ALL sugar and laughter, but neither is anyone's life! That said, there are funny parts to the story, it's not all dour! This book isn't perfect, but it's definitely not the "worst of 2001" either, IMO, no matter what Entertainment Weekly says!
