Review: Mrs. Backus' account of her families experiences in the mining towns of the west are heroic by today's standards and yet common-place for the times. Her adventurious spirit and devotion to her husband and family are pure and uplifting. This book gives you a real sense of live in the young west and is a wonderful book to read if living or traveling to the west.
