Summary: A wonderful portrayal of frontier life in the 1860s.
Review: A wonderful book on the American frontier of the 1860s. Margaret Carrington accompanies her husband, US Army COL Henry Carrington, to Indian territory on the Powder River in Montana to set up forts along the newly opened Bozeman Trail. The book portrays the undaunted spirit of the pioneers and the struggle with the Indians. An excellent read.
