Summary: A Great BOOK and a Great INTERVIEW
Review: I believe Regina Louise wrote this book in the spirit of Helen Keller - very moving! She has given us a new definition of humble beginnings and I think my concept of rags to riches was adjusted by reading "Somebody's Someone."

My wife and I raised 3 children of our own and love all kids. We are emergency care foster parents and have taken in children as orphans and from abused situations; one for almost a year. I can say from experience that giving your love to a child who needs it is one of the most rewarding experiences and is more valuable than gold.

I interviewed Regina Louise on "The Inside Success Show" and loved it. I'm inspired by how far she has made it under such difficult circumstances. Her book will have a lasting impact on our society.

Here's some other things I learned from Regina:

** How Regina Louise was nearly beaten to death in an illegal foster home
** Why your need for belonging so so strong
** What you can do prevent child abuse
** How to recover from any bad situation
** Why you have more power than you ever thought possible by using three simple words - I Love You
** How to find a rich life through helping others
** And much, much more ...

Regina's personal story will move you and I highly recommend reading her book.

Summary: Suffer the Children..
Review: I do not know if I have ever read a book featuring neglect as raw and honest as Somebody's Someone. Regina Louise' memoir has erupted emotions within me short of rage, but long on anxiety. Why was it so hard for this little girl to hear from her own that she was wanted? In our adolescent years, our worries should not consist of where can we find love; love should come automatically. Regina's concern was not only love but also acceptance. It saddened me that her mother and father threw her away like a dirty diaper. Leaving her to wonder if she would ever be Somebody's Someone.

Unfortunately or fortunately, I am not sure which; Regina did find acceptance within a shelter. During this time in her small life she also found a way to harden her heart. At a time when it was crucial, she learns to open up and let love.

Ms. Louise has broken a very significant mold with this memoir. Her brilliance in telling the story from young Regina's voice captured her innocence as well as her growth spurts. I highly recommend Somebody's Someone if you looking for something honest with no fluff.

Summary: Unbelievably Real
Review: I have not hardly been able to put this book down. It is a must read! Not a pretty story, but one that compels us all to re-think the way we are treating our children "in the system"! Regina Louise does an incredible job of bringing you into her world and writing it as if you are living it with her.

Thanks so much to her for doing what few people can do - show and help us feel the truth of a horribly neglected child. The good news???? She triumphs and you get to cheer for her and her success.

Summary: Required Reading for Everyone!!!
Review: I just finished reading this book, which I started yesterday! It is 3 a.m. and I had to write a review. One of the most powerful books I have ever read!!! "Somebody's Someone: A Memoir" by Regina Louise is a powerful autobiography of a strong couragious girl born into hatred and her journey through neglect and abuse and the foster care system. It is written beautifully and with the passion and power of an individual who has experienced an abusive childhood first hand. It proves how unconditional love and trust can save a child!!!

This book should be required reading for all, it opens the worlds eyes to the neglected children in our society and could hopefully bring change for them all.

Thank goodness Regina you made it!!! I hope that there is nothing but good for you forever!!!! I am so moved by your book!!!

Summary: A Child's Story
Review: It is hard to believe that this is a memoir. That a child could be treated with such disregard and cruelty as Regina was.

This is Regina Louise's story of her life from ages 10-15. In these years, Regina shifted from home to home, with a simple request that any child has - to belong and be loved by someone. As the story opens, Regina is living in Texas with a surrogate grandmother, Big Mama, whose house is full of other people's children. In this house, Regina was abused by her "siblings" and ignored by Big Mama. After one of the older children in the home beats Regina at about age 11, she is sent on a bus ride alone to North Carolina to live with her mother, Ruby.

Her time with Ruby seems hopeful, as Ruby is stable and working. But, as the story progresses, and Regina's sister, Doretha comes to live with them, things fall apart. Ruby's boyfriend, Mr. Benny begins making advances at the girls. Doretha fights back and ends up fighting Ruby and getting put out, while Regina sits quietly by, realizing that Ruby wouldn't believe her anyway, and desperately wanting her mother's love and approval.

When Regina finally tells her mother of Mr. Benny's advances, Ruby sends Regina to live in California with her father and his wife. Her time with her father is unsuccessful, and she ends up in foster care, where she becomes attached to one of the counselor's, Ms. Claire. To tell the details of what occurs while Regina is in foster care, would give away several important details and themes that emerge in this.

It was easy to suspend reality and to act like this was merely a story, rather than a detailed account of a girl's life. The book is written in first person, simple narrative form with broken English, as though you are reading out of Regina's journal, or someone merely transcribed her words, spoken into a mini-tape recorder. I often found myself hearing her voice as I read her words. While I would recommend this book, it is not for the light-hearted reader, looking for an uplifting story. Even as I finished this book, I was still not sure if the story was complete. I guess I was looking for a nice, tidy ending, where everything falls into place and all ends well. That satisfaction was not realized until I found her website,
and read a little bit more about how she is now.

Review: Somebody's Someone was the book I was looking for. It made me feel as though I can be somebody even if I don't have anything. She was able to take close to nothing and make it something. I am waitng for the next one.I also want to just say Thank you. God Bless Ms. Louise

Summary: Amazing, amazing
Review: Spunk... lots of spunk... the writer expertly holds and reins in a language that can easily run rampant and out of control. It is authentic and beautiful to hear that natural voice.

Her prose is lyrical and sometimes harsh, but overall it is amazing to read. I feel lucky. When is book number two coming out?

Summary: Awesome
Review: The memoir Somebody's Someone, provided insight into an experience many of us are uncomfortable imagining and even more, acknowledging that it exist. Regina Louise truthfully does not write a "feel good" or "happy ending" book for readers to walk away from unaffected. On the contrary, she challenges the reader to face the reality experienced by a child when they are discarded by their parents and unwanted by their family. Although this talented author vividly depicted her life for all to read, I dare to say that no words could ever accurately describe her journey through life. I struggled to finish this book due to the realism and authenticity that Somebody's Someone represented. The only encouragement I received in reading this book was knowing that this little girl I was reading about evidently fought her way to success and did not allow what many would perceive as defeating circumstances to define her life.

Summary: Almost too painful to read
Review: This book will break your heart. Regina Louise's natural family put the D in disfunctional and she ended up a series of horrible foster homes. What this child went through was shocking and almost too painful to read. The fact that she survived and succeeded is a testament to her will. Read this because it's an engaging biography. Read it if you are curious about the mess that is the US foster care system. Read if you care about needy chidren. This book will stay on your mind long after you put it down.
