Rating: Summary: The Princess Trilogy Review: A fascinating read for any -woman-we Western women are so lucky. I just recently read a new book called "Single in Saudi" by Genia that gives a different perspective on life in Arabia. The young woman in this book got away with all of the things the Princess could not. Both books are a must read for the liberated woman
Rating: Summary: Educational and very well written Review: I couldn't put the book down. The horrific realities of women's life is Saudi Arabia captured my mind not only at the time I read the book. It is impossible to comprehend how the interpretation of the muslim religion could be used to put and keep the Saudi women so low and down. Opens your eyes to the realities of a life and culture so different, makes you think, and is something I will never forget. The book is very well written. It is one to keep and to give to read to your friends.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful to have them all together! Review: I first discovered these books when I was in the 7th grade when the first book PRINCESS, was required reading in my literature class. It was the only book that was equally loved by the males as well as the females in our class. From that time, I have followed the story of Sultana, a Saudi Arabian princess who has struggled for her entire life against male domination. After 9/11, the entire world looked at Saudi Arabia with new eyes and for the first time, news reports gave credibility to Sasson's books about the women of Arabia. For several years I have been wishing to see a set of these books and finally, it has happened! Yes! If anyone is interested in understanding the real workings of Saudi Arabia and why so many radicals come out of that country, the Princess books answers many questions. These three books are not only educational, but highly entertaining. You laugh, you cry, you seethe, you rejoice, all in the course of reading one book. A night of entertainment doesn't come any cheaper than the price of one book! I recommend these books to any reader, young or old, male or female.
Rating: Summary: Great gift idea Review: I have been a fan of Jean Sasson's books since I read the first book in the set, PRINCESS: A TRUE STORY OF LIFE BEHIND THE VEIL IN SAUDI ARABIA, in the early nineties when it came out. Though I have read all three books previously, I could not resist this boxed set...what a wonderful gift idea. To anyone who is not familiar with Sasson's princess books--trust me, once you read the first one you will be glued to the second and third. You might as well buy all three at once--enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Eye opening Review: One day, while at my boyfriend's parent's house, I saw Princess on the coffee table. Simply interested, I read the first chapter. Unable to put it down, I simply had to borrow it until I was finished. That Christmas, my boyfriend's mother gave me the boxed set. What an incredible story! Every person, woman or no, should read this book as it gives you so many different emotions. Anger, fear, and thankfulness, this beautifully written set gives you the umph to finally get out and change your world. If one woman can change Saudi Arabia, why can't you change your own life?
