Review: The title of this book just about says it all. Zinn teaches us to think positive. The tiniest acts of protest, he writes..."may become the invisble roots of social change." This book focues on the civil rights movement in the south and the Vietnam war. Zinn weaves his own personal experience into history and provides a glaring account of events. In essence, Zinn trains us to deal with the moral dilemmas that are presented every day. Everyone is capable of change, Zinn concludes. This book is uplifting.

Review: What lessons, if any, do past social movements teach American citizens? Is change feasible in today's society? Howard Zinn attempts to answer these two questions, along with a number of others, in his book entitled 'You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train: A Personal History of Our Times.' A beautifully written and inspirational book, 'You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train' is quintessential Zinn-direct, yet optimistic. Zinn's central argument is that we are all capable of participating in change, however, for change to occur, we must all experience a social and political reawakening. Zinn's book offers the reader a more hopeful version of politics and society. Yet, such a version is only feasible if we, as Americans, actively participate in the political process. This involvement will fill ones soul with a sense of meaning, and in the end will create a better world for all to live in. For those interested in the history of American society, politics, and social justice issues, 'You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train' is a marvelous book filled with inspiration.

Review: Zinn's book would help you to understand more about the importance of the acts of resistance if your civil liberties are at danger. Zinn gives you his invaluable experience with his involvements with social movements and anti-Viet Nam protests in 60s and 70s, respectively. If you want to find if America is a true democracy, then try this book. If you want to know why civil disobedience is essential, then this book is for you. If you want to learn more about the existence of social movements and why they occurred, then you come to the right book! For those who want to know more about Vietnam War and what it was like, then Zinn has a lot to offer for you to learn. Zinn simply tells you what he has been through and wants you to see what you do not see. To Be Silent is To Lie (learned from Zinn) is what America is doing for a long time! Hopefully this is helpful.
