Rating: Summary: A Junkyard on Paper! Review: Her miscarriage aside, it's hard to have any sympathy for Wendy Williams after reading this book. It essentially tells the story of a spoiled middle-class brat whose parents bail her out of (almost) all of her self-inflicted problems. The only thing positive that anyone can get from reading this book would be if they changed the title to a more suitable, "BOYS AND GIRLS-DO NOT FOLLOW ME!"
Rating: Summary: Over-Rated... Review: I am a big fan of the "shock jock diva's" show The Wendy Williams Experience. I love celebrity gossip, so I try to tune in daily. When I heard that Wendy Williams was coming out with a tell-all autobiography, I was too excited.
I obtained my copy the week it came out, and when I finished it (in 2 days) I was sort of a disappointed. It was a bit over-rated, and not as "juicy" as I was expecting it to be. A lot of the stories she told, I knew about already, and in a way I felt that she was fronting on a lot of information. She talked about her drug habit, her departure from Kiss FM, and her miscarriages, but I still didn't feel that she was being as candid with her own story the way she said she would.
I did however enjoy the last two chapters of the book, entitled "Advice Hour" and "Ten Simple Rules". In those chapters she provided useful information and wonderful words of wisdom.
Overall, the book was just OK to me. I hope her next book makes up for what I felt was missing.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: I have seen Wendy on VH1, and I did not know that she had overcome so many personal problems--drug addiction, miscarriages, etc. etc. She is interesting to me because she is a mixture of upper class and street. She will say "to whom" and "not this nor that" and then she will also use language such as the B word and the N word. If you like Joan Rivers, you will like Wendy's In Your Face style. I was touched by her tales of being a Big Body Girl and her miscarriages. And what she has had to do to make it (stuck in traffic--park her car and WALK thru the Lincoln Tunnel.) Buy this book and enjoy it for what it is -- real life soap-opera fun.
Rating: Summary: Miss It is on FIRE! Review: I love me some Wendy Williams. She is the best person to go to for the hottest gossip and juicy details. Some people hate on her, but Miss Thing keeps it real! Girl, shake dem haters off. I love your book. I hope to meet you one day.
Rating: Summary: Loved it!!! Review: I loved the book. I read a side of Wendy I never knew. I am also from New Jersey, northern New Jersey and I liked being able to relate to what she was talking about. As far as her not 'dropping names', you can't just put people's names in your books without them signing a release allowing you to do so. So, that is why names weren't 'dropped'. If you know anything about books you would know that!!! Over all I think the book was very good, I love autobiographies and I felt this was a good one. I wish she would have been able to go into a little more detail regarding the situation with Hot 97.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: I read this book because I thought Wendy would be more candid in her biography than she is on her show. Not true. She dishes more dirt on the airwaves than she does in this book. On her show, she drop names like hot oil from a skillet, but now that she has the forum to talk about herself, she clams up on the definite details about most of her relationships, even her former husband's name (like this isn't something that's printed in a court record somewhere). Everything is someone else's fault (like her weight problems were because of her perfect parents, and her first husband was jealous of her, and her leaving NYC for Philly was the fault of high-powered record company executive). The only thing she owns up to was her cocaine habit, and the way she talks about that is as if it was a reasonable ordinary thing to do - no thought of rehab??All that being said, this book was semi-entertaining and could be a valuable learning tool in the right hands. Ladies, give this book to your teen daughters and teach them a case study in how ugly it looks to be completely self-centered, spoiled, selfish, addictive, vain (plastic surgery vs. healthy exercise), potty-mouthed, rich, indecent, and unrestrained. In other words, this is the textbook on how to be an upper-class chickenhead. The only saving grace (and the reason for the one star) is her touching description of experiencing an affair and sticking with her marriage in spite of the infidelity.
Rating: Summary: Lukewarm Review: I was expecting much more from the woman that I listen to on the airwaves daily. Wendy's book was lackluster at best and I know she has it in her to do better, much better. There was nothing there, nothing substantive. I was disappointed.

Rating: Summary: Da Bronx loves Wendy's book, and we made sure they sold out! Review: No doubt, Wendy's got a hot book in the Bronx, my hometown. It's back with a whole new cover. We made sure to that because she's a down to earth, no nonsense radio personality whose got the guts to be controversial, and holding it down as a woman where men give no love back to black woman or today, nor respect. Wendy's Got The Heat of the radio world, and her sister in the Bronx is holding it down as the heat of the literary world. Okay, we're not related, but the self respect is there. After reading her book, I was too proud of the reigning queen of hip hop radio. I now understand what is goin' on and my goodness, her gossip is all true so it seems. So far, 12 rumors are right in the news and validated. Much props to the lady despite situations. Should have had great friends to steer her away from past troubles, but that isn't a given when you're in the entertainment industry. "Wendy's Got The Heat" begins with this author's daring reflections on what it takes to get to where she's at, and shuns those who have gotten to where they are at by disrespecting their values and integrity. She is definitely an authority on the air, and whether folks like her raunchy and controversial "National Inquirer" style personality, her book let's you know that she should be one of the most respected and glorified radio talk show hosts in history. This is a book you will enjoy for the raunchy appeal of it all. I think a little Wendy, Amy DuBuois from the former Honey Magazine that may be hopefully making a comeback, and myself starting up a magazine for da ladies in the Bronx would rule. It would be over. For now, you go Wendy! Hold your head up high and do your thing!
Rating: Summary: and I'm NOT hating! Review: Now since I have had the pleasure of meeting Miss Wendy in person, and know a little something about her career and life, this read would be great. The cover of the book lost me. This is largely due to the fact that I know Wendy is a business woman and have seen her in action. She's tough, but soft and so I couldnt understand why this cover was "a go"with the publisher / stylist / whomever. Wendy's mind is much more attractive than the photo they used, and to be honest, the photo does not do her justice (meaning: I've seen better pictures of Wendy). so the cover gave me that yucky taste in my mouth. The book. No it wasnt written like some of Karen Hunters other projects, but how can you "white collar" Wendy's life? She was a drug addict, her husband cheated all over her and she STILL took him back, when she gets on the radio and tells women to leave their cheating husbands, etc. I thought the "stand by my man" part was due to the fact that her husband was enough man for her to love that she began to love herself and so my initial thought of wendy being a hypocrite, flew out the window once I completed that area of the book. I respect her on that. I felt that Wendy could have went a bit deeper in certain areas and feel as though the book was stretched out a bit as far as pages are concerned. Also, The fact that it seems as though the book was written so people would dislike her. This book is getting three stars because I KNOW wendy was not the writer, but this is a clear example of what happens when you allow someone else to tell your story. I think the marketing aspect of her "wendy's got the heat"book is what is making this book sell and I guess at the end of the day, that's what REALLY counts to the publisher and not substance. I say...go out and buy it if you want to support one of the most talented radio personalities, that would be nice.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: This book wasn't about gossip and dirt, things that you'd hear on her radio show, and that's what a lot of people were expecting. Wait for the next book to come out. And don't be cheap and wait for it to come out in paperback either. If I would have known about her first book before coming across it in a book store, I would have gotten it sooner. It was a really good read, and I think Ms. Williams is as in your face and bold as they come and doesn't sugarcoat things, and a lot of people can't seem to handle that. I think she's strong as well, and has overcome a lot, and that is something to be admired. And she never, at no point in the book, comes across as a phony and a fake, unlike a lot of these celebs who will deny deny deny that they've had work done or had substance abuse problems. It's refreshing to see someone so candid and honest about what they've been through.
I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
