Summary: Great Book which tells to demand more from your leader
Review: Great book with details of inner working ( Top management ) of this White House Adminstration. It doesn't blame anybody ..i don't know why Bush Congressmen are out on TV blaming Paul'o Neil for back stabbing. If they consider this as back stabbing then it itself strengthens the belief that there is truth in this book.
* Going to war with Iraq ( Clear evidence of How Bush misled us )
* Tax Cut ( 360 Billion dollar given in dividend tax cut ) How this will create jobs in america ..i am not able to understand till date and a big fiscal deficit in the making

In short , writer emphasizes demand more from ur leader and held him accountable for his deeds. Don't try to forget with good times b/c if u won't do it now ..the coming generation will have to pay the price .

Good Luck and highly recommended.

Summary: "disengaged" = DUMB
Review: This book answers the question: can an honest, forthright, free-thinking, analytical person survive in the Bush Administration?

O'Neil has heroically revealed what many of us suspected all along: Bush lacks the knowledge, curiosity and intellect to be our Commander-in-Chief. Bush's carefully-crafted image (reading off teleprompters and cue cards) has been perpetuated by a conspiracy of silence at the top-- until now. Not until O'Neil's brave tome did any Cabinet-level person admit that this emporer has no clothes, that he is in fact the blankest of slates, a conduit through which the inflexible, politcally-driven, exteme ideologies of Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rove, Rumsfeld & Co. are channeled.

O'Neil has provided the public with a glimpse of Bush that one only finds at rarely- televised live press conferences featuring our president with another World Leader. Hapless without cue cards, Bush's blank-eyed, stumbling, bumbling, inarticulate, embarrassing performances contrasted with the intelligent, complex and analytical comments of his counterpart (Blair comes to mind) offer the starkest view of who he really is.

Bush does not read newspapers, watch televised news, and does not write his own speeches and commentary; of course he can not. Everything he 'knows' he is 'told' by others. So who is crafting policy and running our country? What is really going on? Paul O'Neil's eyewitness account is the best glimpse to date behind the otherwise inpenetrable wall that protects the public from the truth about this president and his administration.

Buy this book and make up your own mind.

Summary: Give this guy some credit!
Review: Maybe O'Neill likes to talk too much, but most of the time he speaks the truth. He was against steel tarifs, Bush didn't listen to him and a year later they had to lift those tarifs. O'Neill said they were actually going to help eliminate jobs. Of course, with steel prices so high many jobs were lost. O'Neill also said the Bush administration wanted a weak dollar, and he was right. And he also said that the second round of tax cuts were not going to produce 300,000 jobs by the end of 2003 (as the Bush administration stated). Now you can see the last job report to see that he was right. Give this man a chance, he assisted in the Nixon and Ford administration, and he knows what's going on. Who cares if he was singing with Bono in Africa.

Summary: Interesting.
Review: Look, all this talk about Bush being oil greedy isn't proven. He hasn't taken the oil. In fact, I don't know why he doesn't use the Iraqi oil to pay for rebuilding Iraq. Doesn't that make sense? Sure beats me paying for it. Regardless, this Idea that Bush wanted war with Iraq before 911 makes sense, but so what? After all, as bad as a dude Saddam was, there is no link between him and 911. There is none. So, it doesn't matter if he was planning war with Saddam before 911. Iraq has nothing to do with that. That was Bin Laden. One could make an argument that because Saddam tried to off Bush's father, that was a big motivator for the president to go to war. I'm sure it was. But folks, let's look at bush from the positive side. In his administration he has done much. He took two brutally oppressive countries, Iraq and Afganistan, and liberated it's people. Perhaps there is some truth to this book, perhaps not, or perhaps like anything, it's a mix of truth and exaggeration to sell a book. I'm not sure. But it's well written and an interesting read. I'll give it that. Also, if you're looking for a book that will lift you up, I can't end this review without recommending "The Little Guide To Happiness". What a delight to read.

Summary: Bush is a big fat lying liar!
Review: Bush is a dispicable man using the horrible tragidy of 9/11 to sell America on a foolish campaign for oil!

Summary: Better to Be Thought A Fool Than.....
Review: This silly tome proves my theory that Paul O'Neill is actuall Shania Twain in reverse drag. Have you ever seen the two of them in the same room together? Have you? HAVE YOU? Hanging with Bono... oh, yeah......

Summary: First Hand Insight Into this Administration
Review: For those of you saying that this book is complete rubbish, consider how well Mr. Ron Suskind has documented his work. His work is supported by interviews with countless people within the administration, from cabinet-level officials to executive assistants, who spoke either off the record or because of Mr. O'Neill's example. Also, O'Neill provided Suskind with a CD-ROM containing 19,000 xeroxed documents rendering his 2 years as the secretary of the treasury. Everything from hundred page reports to hand scribbled notes are included. How anyone could argue that Paul O'Neill is being anything but genuine in the face of such hard evidence is beyond me. Every public move the president makes is so carefully crafted that he is unknown to many Americans. By providing an inside look at the president on a daily basis, this book will allow people to finally know the true nature of president Bush. Read this book, it is vital reading for making an informed decision this November.

Summary: What's the point of defending?
Review: Here's a point that I thought is extremely interesting. If the Bush administration thinks that everything in this book are not true. What's the point of defending? Why not do something more useful? (e.g. Improve education funds, unemployment rates, etc...) It makes me more suscipicious as to what the Bush administration are doing. Are they really helping our country and the rest of the world, or putting us down?

Summary: Just a comment...
Review: At the time I'm writing this, there are 30 reviews. This is of course the day the book was released. Noone here has read the book whether they give it 5 stars (Bush haters) or 1 star (Bush lovers). Former Sec. O'Neill is a smart guy, read the book and then give a review either way. These stupid reviews by people who haven't read the book are pretty pathetic-nobody is listening to you. And why would a Bush-lover buy this book and then give it one star.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Devastating critique by a key insider!
Review: This book is a devastating critique of the Bush administration by a key inside Paul O'Neill, the former Secretary of the Treasury, who was subsequently fired for speaking his mind. And in this book, he speaks his mind again talking about the state of the federal budget, the hunt for a reason to invade Iraq (any reason will do), and the "CEO style" of George W. Bush - "it was like a blind man in a meeting with deaf people." And to think this guy is the president!
Every American needs to read this book to understand what is at stake in the coming presidential election!
