Rating: Summary: The Rush "Mission" comes to life....a great book! Review: From start to finish, a great book and a must have for a Rush fan.I first read this book 8 years ago and it has never gotten old.I even did a book report on it when I was a freshman in High School and I made it a movie poster. The ultimate Rush book!
Rating: Summary: STELLAR RUSH BIO! IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS! Review: Granted, 'The B-Man' is not an expert writer, but most everything in this book is INFORMATIVE, ENTERTAINING, and GENUINE! One must remember, that at the time, this book was one of the very few insights and glimpses into the band, and their personal history, given how private Rush was. It is safe to say that these days, the band is much more open to interviews and public appearances, so don't judge this book by today's standards for chrissakes. The information and pictures in 'RUSH VISIONS' is first rate, and Mr. B's 'third party' observations are very fresh and 'you are there'. It is almost as if he becomes one's personal tour guide of the band. If you can get your hands on this rare book, do not hesitate one bit. It is well-written, chock full of awesome pics, and a must for a serious collection of Rush memorabilia!
Rating: Summary: If you like Rush....Buy this Book!! Review: I believe this is the most acurate and best written of
the 3 or so books about the Musical Group "RUSH." I found it
to be extremely usful in terms of documented tourdates and the such. I found very few errors (I am not an expert, only
an enthusiastic fan). The book documents the bands history
with an emphasis on the early days. It leaves off at about
the Hold Your Fire days, I believe. The author writes very
well and the book was seen by the members of the band before
it was published. I would highly recomend this book.
Rating: Summary: Good Book, Terrible Writer Review: I can give B-man credit for one thing: he did his homework when it came to Rush. Other than that, it's a typical biography of a great band. Nothing amazingly revealing. In the end it amounts to junk. B-Man is an odd little sod in his own right. Bottom line: sublimely lame book filled with nothing of any major interest, unless your only knowlidge of Rush was listening to "Tom Sawyer" on the radio wondering "who the hell is that chick that's singing?" And by the way, Cary Hall made my other point. So read his post as well.
Rating: Summary: Nice pictures. Review: I only wish that Amazon would offer the zero star rating. The author has submitted messages to the Rush fan mailing list, and my immediate impression was that this guy is a complete moron. The book is written in 3rd grade vernacular. Go buy a couple of Rush albums instead. Sorry Bill....

Rating: Summary: Interesting Observation Review: I was one of the fortunate few who managed to hunt down Visions at a local record store in the late 80's. I say fortunate because I know how much of a pain it's been for a lot of Rush fans to find this book over the years. When I was a teenager, I loved the book and read it over and over again. Unfortunately for the author, I'm no longer a teenager and most true Rush fans are above this level of intelligence as well. After re-reading Visions for the first time in about 10 years, the photographs are still outstanding, some of the best of the band I've ever seen. The writing, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Speaking as a high school teacher, I wouldn't accept this level of work from one of my students. Simply put, it's full of the type of errors in syntax and sentence structure which absolutely drive me insane. They're so distracting that, frankly, it was pretty tough to read after only spending a brief period of time with the book. True, I already knew most of the information included because I had already read the book before, but if you're reading this you also have access to a number of websites dealing with the band which will give you much more current and pertinent information. As a collectible, it's great. As a book, however, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Rating: Summary: Overrated. Review: I was prepared to write something much better, as I expected a wonderfully written book. However, in final analysis, I find that this book is more in the vein of the author's gloating about the level of his dedication to the Canadian rock group Rush. As a fan of that band as well, frankly, I was quite embarrassed to find that the "best" biography of the band was this story. At times it's quite interesting, with many vignettes; however, after a while it becomes tiring, along with the constant sly references to the band's lyrics. My only recommendation is that you buy it only if you have to, because I have read some of the author's other work, and it lacks a lot of discipline and loses the reader rather quickly.
Rating: Summary: Atrocious Grammar - Tenny-Bop Mentality - Cool Photos Review: If this is indeed "The Official Biography" Rush should be extremely upset for not proofreading this book before signing off on it. The grammar is so poor it becomes painful to read and the 6 & 7 word sentences are so sophomoric I can only read a few pages at a time. The photographs are pretty neat, though. I'd like to read more about the band, but if this is how the words would come out, then just give me more photos! I don't care how happy the author was to receive a personal birthday greeting from Geddy Lee onstage. (A blessing! A blessing from the Lord!) The book is so full of mutilated teenage dialect and selfish, self-centered authorship that most true, long-time Rush fans will be embarrassed on behalf of the band because this piece of literary excrement actually got itself published. My 2 cents.
