Summary: Dismal Clip Job
Review: Sal Mineo and those interested in his life and career deserve better than this tawdry clip job. There is no evidence that the author conducted any interviews with friends, family or colleagues of Mineo. He plays up Mineo's gay sexuality till it becomes tiresome. The A&E Biography is much better, as is E!'s episode of Mysteries and Scandals devoted to Mineo.

Summary: Semi-decent bio,if slightly exploitive
Review: Sal Mineo finally has a bio about him. And the results are mixed! Although the book contains many insightful information,it also has a tendancy to keep centering on Sal's sexual exploits, sometimes over-shadowing other important issues. Also, Jeffers seems obsessed with reminding the reader he had sexual relations with Mineo. If this is true,it didn't appear the two of them had anything more than a few one nighters. But if telling readers he had sex with Sal boasts his little ego,let him get his 15 minutes of fame,at Sal's expence.I just hope, somebody ELSE write a bio on Sal,that doesn't STOOP LOW to EXPLOIT SEX,just for the sake of selling more books, and writes a more detailed portrait of Sal Mineo, that includes ALL aspects of Sal's life. Jeffers seems to be "in love" with Mineo, and should realize he was just a one-night stand, and get over his ego.

Summary: Sal Mineo: finally remembered
Review: Sal Mineo got more fan letters in 1958 than Elvis! He was one of the highest paid young actors in Hollywood. He was nominated for two Academy awards("Rebel without a cause", "Exodus") won a Golden Globe("Exodus") and won an Emmy("Dino"). On top of that he was an accomplished actor and director on Broadway. So why was he not celebrated until recently? My opinion is because after his murder in 1976, it became widely know he was gay. But now, this fact is being embraced as being gay in finally not being looked upon as something terrible.Yes he did have a long love affair with beautiful actress, Jill Haworth, but after that relationship, he discovered he was gay, and never was ashamed of it. This first ever Biography, written by H. Paul Jeffers, is a fascinating look at Sal's life, career and horrible murder. Loaded with great pitures, and lovingly researched, this book is reccomended to all Mineo fans, "Rebel" fans, and anybody interested in gay culture and/or classic Hollywood.Never exploitive, always respectful, and lovingly penned, this is an amazing book.I am the owner of Sal Mineo's official website, as well as a 2nd generation cousin to James Dean and I highly rate this book as a classic!Sal's life will make a great motion picture. Currently Joey Travolta and Dale Oprandy have optioned the "official" rights to from the Mineo estate and are currently preparing to film a big-screen version of his life.Let's hope the movie is as great as this wonderful book, which I have confidence it shall be.Honestly, Sal Mineo was one of the most talented, sexiest, and coolest actors of the 1950's and 60's. Thank you, H. Paul Jeffers, for writing this beautiful book.

Summary: Remembering Sal Mineo
Review: This was a very interested biography on the life of Sal Mineo. I was introduced to Sal Mineo when I first saw the classic film, rebel without a cause. In my opinion, I believe Sal's tragic death is still a mystery. It's a great biography to remembering the young handsome actor who should never be forgotten. Even though, he was gay, he was very a handsome young man and very talented.
RIP SAL. Can't wait until they do a movie about this talented late actor.

Summary: all we have so far
Review: Unfortunately not much has been written about Sal Mineo. This book is an attempt to be a comprehensive look at Mineo's life. While informative in parts of the book, the author seems self serving when he states that he had sex with Mineo. The book is very focused on Mineo's homosexuality and does not focus very much on his film/play work. The book is poorly written for the most part and Mineo may have been better served by a neutral author. I don't know if another book will be written about Sal Mineo but I would venture a guess and say that he deserves better than this one.

Summary: Sals disappointment
Review: What a disappointment this book is. There is little mention of two very important people in Sals life, and several inaccurate details. This book is about a small portion of the man named Sal Mineo. Wait for the movie!
