Rating: Summary: The Best Darn'd Book I've Ever Read! Review: Just finished reading Ms Leigh's new book. "The King, McQueen & The Love Machine" it is a must read for anyone out there whom has or had an interest in just what it was like to be a romantic companion within the very private inner circle of Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen & the once head of MGM Movie studios James Aubrey, this book offers the reader a most splendidly candid peek at how it was like to be alone with these larger than life SuperStars & Powerful film maker while they were "all" in hot pursuit of wooing the charms (at the same time yet) of one of the most gorgeous creatures that has ever appeared on a movie screen (Simply check her out (Charmagne) in Junior Bonner), Guys & Gals this little ol gal from Georgia's beauty eclipse's Steve McQueens fine acting (the pictures of her in this book are pure dynamite with a different one starting off each and every chapter, interspersed w/Rock Hudson, Roger Vadim, McQueen, etc.) One can feel that this book is "honestly written" & "sincerely heartfelt" as it begins with Ms Leigh's early struggles in life while growing up poor down south in GA & Tenn and, then perks up as she describes how it was coming out to CA in her late teens and just how she became involved with 3 very famous & powerful men not to mention "many" other celebrities that she has worked with in the past. Her story relates to the reader a beautifully written truelife fairytale of what I'm quite sure thousands (perhaps millions) of young women could have only dreamed about walking in the shoes Ms Leigh has walked in thruout the world "with" the rich & famous. I truly loved reading this true life story and hope that someday Steven Spielberg 0r Ron Howard & his partner Glaser get hold of it, because if they also read it "they too" shall indeed see the potential treasure of making a magically tender great film based upon the autobiography of a most beautiful women that clearly God has blessed with great Wisdom that shines right on thru in her memories contained within this superbly written story, "Bravo" Ms Barbara Leigh.

Rating: Summary: The King, McQueen and the Love Machine Review: My name is Joe Esposito. I worked for Elvis for 18 years. We were very close. I was there the first day Elvis meet Barbara Leigh in Las Vegas. When her first saw her, he could not take his eye's off of her. Either could I. They just connected. They got to know each other very close. They had a wonderful relationship for a few years. One of the things I liked about Barbara's book is she was very honest about her life. She had some very hard times in her earlier years. This is the first time she has really wrote about her relations with her special men. I think she did a wonderful job writing this book on her life. I know it had to be hard on her. It's not easy writing a book about your life. I know. I really enjoyed reading it. And I know it is the truth because I was there. I have recomended it to a lot of my friends. It's a great story.
Rating: Summary: Much more than a Kiss and Tell Tale! Review: Not your average run-of-the-mill kiss and tell book. I bought this book because of my interest in Steve McQueen, and came away with a whole lot more! Barbara Leigh, lovely cover-girl, actress, and Playboy pictorial beauty (twice!), candidly reveals her life and passions. The majority of the book takes place during Barbara's turbulent but exciting escapades with three of the most famous and desirable men of their day (the period is 1970-72), Elvis, Steve McQueen and a big-shot Hollywood producer. Barbara is in her early twenties during this time, and her freshness in telling her story makes us, the reader, feel we're right with her! But there is much more to this story than just who's bedroom she's in. It's a story of courage, surivial, making the right choices even after having made mistakes, like we all do, and keeping your head up and moving on and up. I came away with nothing but admiration for Barbara, and recommend this book to anyone interested in a story of a brave woman full of life.
Rating: Summary: Elvis, Steve, James and Barbara Review: This book is a smooth reading, fast paced, energetic romance adventure leaving female readers green with envy and male readers "champing at the bit" to trade places with one of Ms. Leigh's three love interests showcased. A majority of the book's content is devoted to the "on-again", "off-again", mostly "on-again" love affairs of the young and beautiful actress/model Barbara Leigh as she delicately balances the advances of three of Hollywoods most powerful, influential and desirable men---all at the same time! Ms. Leigh gives the reader a rare and honest glimpse of her heart and heartaches as she strives to strike a balance between her magnetic attraction to each of these dynamic personalities as well as groom and advance her own professional and personal growth. Barbara describes, with remarkable recall, some of the high points with each lover. Through her eyes we see aspects of these men otherwise hidden from the public. But alas, not all was "fun and games". Ms. Leigh, just as clearly, recalls some of the stresses and strains associated with each relationship, documenting tragic circumstances that eventually brought each to an end. A portion of her writing is dedicated to her childhood. We see fragmented relationships, abandonment and a lack of stability that leaves the reader believing that miracles do happen...for out of this turbulent childhood emerged a lady who holds few ill feelings, loves people and has carved her own distinctive niche, achieving the well-earned status of celebrity.
Rating: Summary: One In A Million! Review: This book ROCKS! I really enjoyed reading this autobiography of Barbara Leigh for many reasons...She easily possesses the uncanny abilility to project her heart & soul onto the printed page like no one else...As soon as you open this book, Barbara takes your hand, & you actually feel as though you are right alongside here, through all her exhillerating triumphs, as well as her many heartbreaks. From her early povery-stricken childhood, to her incredible relationships w/ Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, & James Aubrey, it's as though you are her best friend, along for this amazing rollercoster, hearing all this from her own mouth. I especially loved the the chapters dealing with Elvis, & actually felt the hairs on my arm stand on end, as Barbara tells of being with The King Of Rock N Roll, like no one else has ever revealed. The photos of Ms. Leigh are absolutely breathtaking, & she has actually become more beautiful, inside as well as out, as time has passed. Somehow, she has managed to stay the same lovely, charming , "Southern Gal" she was, when she had nothing, to ...Barbara Leigh, celebrity extraordinaire, which is a gift that money just can't buy...When you finish this book, the most amazing factor to remember is that all this happened to just one very fascinating lady...The book also details her rise to Playboy, where she now works, to being the living incarnation of Warren Magazine's sultry Vampirella...To put it bluntly, I'm very jealous of Elvis, Steve, & James, because Barbara is that rare lady, that's truly "One In A Million"...Continued success, darlin'...
Rating: Summary: Who to choose Review: This book was great, from the aspect of reading about someone who dated 3 of the most powerful entertainment individuals of their time, at the same time. It's amazing how Ms. Leigh had so many feelings for these three individuals plus stay on top of a budding career. I would suggest this book to anyone that needs a little bit of spice in their reading.
Rating: Summary: The King, McQueen and The Love Machine Review: What a luscious read. Not only was I introduced to these exciting, high-powered men in a very palpable manner, with such clarity and bald-faced honesty, I was invited into a wonderfully intimate connection with Barbara, who endeared herself to me by her generosity and compassion in this tell-all tale. I already want to read it after only a several months lapse. It's a romantic and intriguing adventure, very satisfying. Men and women alike will very much enjoy spending time with Barbara and her men. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Remarkable story of a remarkable lady... Review: Writer Barbara Leigh colorfully and honesty relives a real-life Hollywood fantasy in this thoughtful autobiography. Surrounded by a trio of colorful high-octane personalities, Ms. Leigh uses her unique relationships with each as counterpoint to her own perspective on life and love in the Hollywood fastlane of the 1970's. Fans of Elvis in particular will delight in her inside (and heart-felt)observations of "the King." Many rare b&w stills. Highly recommended.
