Rating: Summary: Just A Bitter Ex Who Wants To Be Famous and Make Money! Review: This book doesn't even deserve one star. Just another book from an ex-girlfriend trying to make money off of a dead ex, and get back at him for the abuse and cheating, that she let him do to her. She's bitter, and she wants to be famous for dating him, she wants to be a famous groupie, girlfriend, or wife of a legendary singer. She was just another one of his women, she was never his wife. None of these people are alive who she talks about badly like Tammi Terrell, she blaims Tammi for everything, it takes TWO TO TANGLE. She's really bitter at Tammi Terrell, get over it, its not all her fault, when Tammi and him broke up, David still cheated on this so-called wife broke up, he cheated on her before and after Tammi Terrell. You can't take these books seriously, some things are lies and shouldn't be told, all she do is mess up his name and legacy. I guess in the future we'll be reading some more books from other women of his. Just another trashy book from a bitter ex. But, people like to read [garbage] and gossip, so she succeeded.
Rating: Summary: This Book Doesn't Do Ruffin or the Tempts Any Justice Review: This book is a complete waste of time and a disappointing read! I am a new fan of the Temptations, having caught the Temtps movie by accident. Since then I have watched it every time it's come on in the last 2 months, and bought the video. I find the early incarnation of the group fascinating. I wanted to read Sapia's book first since I got the impression from the movie that Otis' book might be a tad biased against David, Eddie and Paul.Unfortunately this book does not qualify as a biography, at least not of Ruffin or the group. For Sapia to have been in an extended intimate relationship with Ruffin, she doesn't seem to know much about him or his background- unless she's just not telling (in which case why write this book?) Sapia's facts are sketchy and seem pretty questionable although she claims to be an "insider". The book focuses more on the author and less on the subject- it didn't really give any insight into Ruffin or the Temptations as artists or individuals. Instead it's a book explaining Sapia's reasons for remaining in an allegedly abusive relationship with Ruffin- definitely not what I was looking to read about. I actually felt sorry for Ruffin- he's not here to defend himself, and she's making money off of his and the Temptations' name. I agree with the other reviewer- another book by a bitter ex/groupie. This is NOT a book for David Ruffin or Temptations fans because it's about neither! I hope Otis' book is better.
Rating: Summary: Have you No Shame, Genna?!! Review: This book is a total disgrace! I can't believe this woman!! She claim to have loved David Ruffin, but then she writes a book so hateful and angry when the man has been dead for over 10 years?!! Yeah, I have read countless books about Motown and its stars and one thing is clear...David Ruffin was a deep man with a serious drug problem (and ego). But this woman allowed David to mistreat her. Not only did he cheated on her, but he beated her (according to her book). Instead of leaving him, she stayed right there and allowed him to mistreat her. Another thing that upsets me about this book is she protrays herself as a victim, but then she was the one that pursued him and started a relationship with David when he was MARRIED to someone else. Geez!!! I also feel that she is bitter over the fact that the love of David's life wasn't her, but the beautiful Tammi Terrell. He really loved Tammi, probadly more than Marvin Gaye loved her. Another sore point for me is her anger towards Otis Williams. Genna, why are you mad at Otis for not talking about you in his book and movie? He didn't talk about the women in Melvin or Eddie's life in the movie. And the only reason why Paul's wife character was included in the movie, because they had a MARRIAGE between them. Genna lashes out at ANYONE who she feels got in the way between her and David. She even lashes out at David's brother, Jimmy. If Davis was alive today, this book would have never saw the light of day. Its a shame that she waited until AFTER his death to publish this trash.
Rating: Summary: No Love Story Review: This book is just another case of being mislead. According to the author, this book contained "A Love Story" along with info about the life and childhood of David Ruffin, one of The Temptations great lead singers. I'm sorry but this is no love story at all and I don't think it is honest for the author to mislead the readers this way. I found the book sad and embarrasing. It seemed to be written more by an enemy than a lover and one who must have been totally fascinated or obsessed with Mr. Ruffin. One thing for sure, since the man is not here to tell his side of the story, I remain a fan and a lover of his music. I'm just sorry I wasted my money.

Rating: Summary: Desperation, no Admiration! Review: Who is this floosie! I love David Ruffin to death and I just detest this book. You know, if he were alive to defend himself, this would make more for exciting reading, but as he is not, nor Tammi, nor Eddie, I am in no way pleased by this rather late memoir. I do not see how or why she feels she merits mentioning. Though I have a few issues with the Otis Williams bio, clearly his book is the more tasteful of the two. SHAME ON YOU LADY!! This is a man with children, and undoubtably grandchildren. This is the [junk] they have to read about him?
Rating: Summary: A MEMOIR: David Ruffin-My Temptation Review: Why did this woman decide to put such trash into a book. She did not even have a relationship with the man, not to mention he never married her. That should have told her how important she was and if he really did beat her like she said he did she should have really gotten the message. YOU ARE JUST ONE OF MANY. She even have the audacity to put her picture on the book. What nonsense. How can she hold her head up in public. So she had a baby by the man any fool could do that. I knew David, he was a freind. Like most stars he had a lot of women. They would throw themselves at him. I am sure she was not the only one to get herself pregnant, but as far as I can tell she is the only one making a fool out of herself. David was a deep brother who happen to make the mistake of drug addiction.A lot of us can relate to that.It does not make us a bad person. He certainly was not the monster she claims he was. It is a disgrace to his memory and insult to those of us who loved him. The book is no more than a bitter woman who tried her entire life to get somebody who did not want her. Even in his death she is still bitter and refuse to let him rest. I can hear David now "oh no here comes this [woman] again". The book is badly written. Perhaps instead of running after David she should have been going to school to build a life for her self instead of trying to take his.
