Rating: Summary: REPORTING FROM HOLLYWOOD Review: I started reading this book in the car on my way back from where I picked it up and didn't stop until I was completely done. What a wonderful book! Just perfect. So riveting, and it really brought David to life for me. I interviewed him a few times, and loved him. But this made me love him more--even though he could be quite a "challenge". Thanks to the author for writing this, and for being so honest. Fabulous work. What a life she has had! Congratulations to her on a job so well done!author J. Randy Taraborrelli J. Rating: Summary: New Release Reveals Personal Secrets About David Ruffin Review: I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I wasn't sure if the author was even legit, let alone if she was going to bash David or what. It's really a love story though, shedding a lot of light on questions not only about David's life, but his death as well. You gotta read this to believe it!! I loved it. I am so glad to know that the Temptations movie is not the only side to the story. I like any celebrity bios and autobiographies. This one is much different, though. Really down to earth.
Rating: Summary: groupie to wife Review: I was very schocked by the book because I thought it was going to show the good side of David Ruffin by the title.Otis was kinder to the man you say you love so much!! But I was wrong It dogged him out bigtime. All I have to say if you like a good story this is a good book but don't expect your idol the great David Ruffin to be looked upon in a great way.Genna to you, I understand why you didn't come out with this book when he was alived, because if what you say is true(about him beating you)I'm sure after he read your book he would have KILLED YOU.
Rating: Summary: Please Genna Stop Cleaning Out Your Closet!!!!! Review: I wish I could rate this book lower than 1 star. Its not even that good. Genna has made people {that would otherwise not known her] understand what being a fool is. Can you say self serving?? I have never regretted buying a book as much as I do this one. It is garbage the only person in the book that is credited with having morals, decency,or god sense is who else Genna. Forget the fact that she persued a married man,had his baby, watched him fall in love with the beautiful and talented Tammi Terrell, and marry another woman. Somethings sre better left unsaid. This book is a perfect example of that.
Rating: Summary: Oh Genna, Genna, Genna.... Review: It sounds to me like she is proud of this "love story." If this is love, the I hope to NEVER FALL IN IT!!! Not to judge, GOD KNOWS, I don't want to judge, but all I saw in this book were two very sick individuals who should have stayed very far away from each other. First off, if she felt the need to right this garbage, she really should have done it w/o letting us know just about EVERYBODY who she doesn't like!! Mainly Jimmy Ruffin, Otis Williams, and Tammi Terrell. Why on earth is she complaining about her and her kid not being in the movie? First, the movie wasn't about her. Second, if you combine the movie and her book, Ruffin's rep would have been trashed MORE than either of them did separately!!! I don't know how much of this book is sensationalized, but she really ought to be ashamed. Whether or not she was in love, she should have tried harder to not just leave, but STAY AWAY!!! Especially since there was a kid. And believe me, a busted eardrum would have been IT!!! Love can't be that blind!!! It surely almost DEAFENED her!!! She makes statements about how David couldn't have done this or that, but she admits that she didn't talk to him for the last four years of his life. I expected more about his funeral. She should have just stuck to the funeral instead of trying to see which women David messed with, what his girlfriend was rumored to have worn, and mentioning Martha Reeves' time in a hospital. One of the many things that unneccessarily found its way into the book. There were many hilarious moments in the book. I laughed thru most of it. Especially the part where after he died, David gave her a sign to tell her it was ok for her to adopt his surname. LOL!!! How does she figure that he never gave it to her during his lifetime, but somehow ok'd it from beyond the grave? Spare me!!! Also, I could have done w/o the slang and all of the underlined words!!! I don't know who's book was worse, hers or Tony Turner's. Both had "groupie" and "hanger on" and $$dollarbill$$$ written all over it. They both took advantage of the person they knew. And Sadly, they knew the same person. Both were utter trash. Ok,I'm done with this. I gave it one star only b/c it's a quick read. don't buy it. go to the library.
Rating: Summary: Just Another Book From A Bitter Ex Who Wants To Be Famous! Review: Just another book from an ex-girlfriend trying to make money off of a dead ex, and get back at him for the abuse and cheating, that she let him do to her. She's bitter, and she wants to be famous for dating him, she wants to be a famous groupie, girlfriend, or wife of a legendary singer. She was just another one of his women, she was never his wife. None of these people are alive who she talks about badly like Tammi Terrell, she blaims Tammi for everything, it takes TWO TO TANGLE. You can't take these books seriously, some things are lies and shouldn't be told, all they do is mess up their name and legacy. I guess in the future we'll be reading some more books from other women of his. Just another book trying to trash motown legacy and the legendary Motown singers, you can't take this book seriously. Only people who'll take this seriously are new fans, or fanatics. She's just trying to make money. Just another trashy book. But, that's what people like, and she's succeeded.
Rating: Summary: Nothing terribly skin deep bout this memoir Review: My reaction to this book is rather mixed. I adore the temptations, especially David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. Now, I do appreciate a good groupie memoir, so it met my satisfaction in that area, but on the standpoint of taste and quality, I was very disappointed. I am rather bothered that Ms. Sapia insinuates that this book, in some shape, form, or faishion, was supposed to paint Ruffin in a more positive light, in contrast to the Otis Williams memoir. It most certainly did not! It appears that she has never overcome her jealousy of Tammi Terrell and the hurt she suffered by his constant philandering. I almost could relate, until I got to the end of the book, in which it was never mentioned that they were officially married- Not even by common-law. And she wears her son like a trophy in my opinion. I do not find that acceptable. If this book was written with the defining purpose of exploiting her relationship with the great, late Temp, I would have given it five stars, but as there is a deal of deception to the reading public, It only merits three from me. However, it is an interesting read.
Rating: Summary: interesting Book Review: one thing about David Ruffin He makes a Interesting Read to Go along with His Great Talent as a Musical Artist.this Book takes on so many aspects of Him&His Career&How He dealt with things.the Book goes into many directions but keeps your interest.
Rating: Summary: NO STARS for this faulty memory flashback Review: The only reason why this junk has more stars than it should is not only that they won't let us post no stars, but also because someone gave her 5 stars for writing trash!!!! I've read expose's on Hitler and Al Capone and even they weren't trashed like the great Temptation's singer David Ruffin is in this book. No one could be this bad--not even David Ruffin. The woman was and still is living in a fantasy world. She obviously never meant anything to this man. This is no love story, it was an extended one night stand that turned into a nightmare that wouldn't end--for HIM!!!
