"Coal Miner's Daughter" was a 40-year-old woman's sanitized story. Here, the painful things you don't see in TV interviews are revealed. Her husband's serial affairs, her kids' flaws, the death of her son. Yet the positive tone, and absence of self-pity, still shine through. The book reminds us that the rich and famous are not immune to sorrow and problems. Most importantly, it shines a light on how even a strong woman can stay with an abusive husband, and how the "good old days" left women fewer choices. A rare insight.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A keeper! Review: Any admirer of Loretta Lynn, whether as a woman or as an entertain or as both, will find much to like about this book. Ms. Lynn is open, honest, and frank----as always!! She lets the reader inside her life, inside her pain, and inside her very unusual relationship with Doolittle Lynn. I could never have endured a tenth of what she has endured in life and I thoroughly admire her courage, strength, determination, talent, and FAITH. An unforgettable book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Strong Story by a Strong Woman Review: Filled with vivid stories spanning from Loretta earliest childhood right to publication date expressed with brutal honesty, wit, and charm. Through the years we've all seen Loretta in the tabloids, but nothing I've seen written in the tabloids can compare to what Loretta herself writes. I especially liked the stories about Conway Twitty and Tammy Wynette - two country legends who seem forgotten by the same country music they dominated for so long. Buy it, read it, and realize what a great person Loretta Lynn is.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: dina's review Review: I BECAME A FAN OF LORETTA LYNN WHEN I SAW COAL MINERS' DAUGHTER OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO. I AM FROM NEW JERSEY, AND I WAS REALLY NOT BROUGHT UP ON COUNTRY MUSIC, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS ABOUT THAT MOVIE THAT MADE ME A FAN EVER SINCE. I ALSO READ HER FIRST AUTOBIOGRAPHY "COAL MINERS' DAUGHTER" AS WELL, AND IT WAS THE FIRST BOOK THAT I READ FROM BEGINNING TO END, AND ACTUALLY DID IT A SECOND TIME. HER NEW BOOK "STILL WOMAN ENOUGH", COVERED PARTS OF HER LIFE SHE DIDN'T DISCUSS IN THE FIRST BOOK OR MOVIE. I THINK THE REASON HER BOOKS AND LIFE ARE SO INTERESTING IS BECAUSE SHE IS JUST LIKE SOME PEOPLE THAT I KNOW, PERSONALLY. SHE IS REAL. HOW MANY OF US CAN SAY WE ACTUALLY KNOW SOMEONE WHOS' HUSBAND WAS A DRINKER ,A WOMANIZER, WAS A STRICT DISCIPLINARIAN TOWARDS HIS OWN CHILDREN, WHICH THEN LED THEM TO BECOME DYSFUNCTIONAL. BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS BOOK ESPECIALLY IS THAT WHEN I WAS READING IT I FELT AS IF SHE WAS TELLING ME ABOUT HER LIFE PERSONALLY, RATHER THAN ME JUST READING A BUNCH OF STUFF ABOUT HER AND HER LIFE. SHE MAKES IT VERY PERSONABLE. BESIDES ALL THAT SHE IS A GREAT SONGWRITER AND ENTERTAINER AS WELL. I GIVE THIS BOOK 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Still Woman Enough: Review: I had read the book Still Woman Enough already twiced now.I have also read Coal Miners Daughter. And own the video of it.Loretta's new book was based on a lot after the movie of Coal Miners Daughter. To me her life was so sad at times. She has lost a lot of loves ones in her life.I really enjoyed the parts in the book where she would talk about Conway Twitty.I know that they were the best singing partners in the country music business. The day that Conway had died in the hospital where Loretta's husband was a patient made me cry.I was a Conway Twitty fan since 1970.Also,the way she loved and stood by her husband was so remarkable and the loved she had for him.I hope they will make a movie of Still Woman Enough.I would recommend this book to anyone. In my opinion it's the best.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Loretta...Still the Greatest! Review: I happened upon Loretta Lynn's new book by accident and I finished it in ONE DAY! Impossible to put it down. Like "Coal Miner's Daughter" "Still Woman Enough" is written as if Loretta were sitting having a chat with you telling you all that happened. Her memoir is revealing and she holds nothing back. And I was shocked at some of the 'things' she had to go through with her beloved husband. She says often throughout the book that these are things she couldn't tell while he was still alive....and small wonder. Loretta Lynn is a remarkable 'just a person' person! If you don't know why Loretta is universally loved, this book will show you why.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A fast, interesting read Review: I have the utmost love, respect and admiration for Loretta Lynn, a true country music icon. "Coal Miner's Daughter" is a movie I can watch over and over. But altho I'm fascinated to gain insight into the personal lives of "the rich and famous", I was surprisingly shocked by amount of dysfunction in this country legend's life. (For example, her husband slept with her brother's wife and years later, fooled around with his son's girlfriend!) Much is made of her amazingly inspiring rags to riches story, but at what cost to Loretta? Should we really admire the personal side of her life as she stayed with a abusive, womanizing, alcoholic husband? Loretta freely admits that her marriage had negative affects on all her children. Is this really a lifestyle we'd want for any of the loved ones in our lives? Yet, having raised these issues, I give this book high ratings for its brutal honesty.....altho I found it curious that Loretta never once came right out and stated that she never cheated on her husband, in my opinion, she skirted around that issue (but kudos to her if she was faithful). Parts of the book seemed fuzzy with details but all in all this is a fast, interesting read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Still Woman Enough Review: I just read this book and found it delightful. I have always loved Loretta Lynn and thought her to be like family. I watched Coal Miner's Daughter and fell in love with it. I knew the movie probably had left some things out or added some moments that wasn't right. But if you only listen to Ms. Lynn in her speech and her singing, you can find that she is an honest woman and down to earth. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the part about the wringing of the chicken neck and the tourists. Some people just go into a supper market and buy meats, they don't really know what the process use to be for others. This book is about life. Thanks for sharing the moments with us. I wanted to wake up this morning and go to Hurricane Mills and see her. Been here in Nashville for two years and haven't really seen many people. Did go to the Opry twice to take my mom but Ms Lynn wasn't preforming. This book is a keeper. You won't forget the memories.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: No holds barred Review: I loved this book! Loretta Lynn showed it is not only common folks that have big problems but famous ones also. Nothing was held back. I laughed when she hit Doo over the head for calling her a unkindly name, cried when Doo was in his last days, and cheered when she stuck up for herself. Two thumbs up!
