Summary: A true patriot - we're lucky to have had him
Review: This book is fascinating and captures the man who was so misunderstood because he never launched a pr campaign to herald his contributions to this nation (a la the Kennedy's who foist amazing self promotion to secure their place in people's minds) Laregely unconcerned with personal acclaim, Reagan's accomplishments have gone underrated and maligned. Until this book that is - every student of America should read this book and let the lessons sink in. Reagan mounted a revolution while no one really noticed and so served his country a momentous service. The author provides an even handed analysis of the issues and the man and so makes so many things clear.

Summary: Why critics of Reagan are wrong
Review: Since the end of his presidency, all I have read in newspapers about Reagan have been thorough criticisms. Now I read in D'Souza's book why: Reagan ended the Cold War, and the American intelligentsia is angry about it!! The author's clear style shows what Reagan did, why he did it, and why he had so many critics from both the left and the right--and why Reagan's decisions were correct.

Summary: God blessed America with this great man.
Review: 'Nuff said.

Ron, if you're reading this, thank you and god bless you. Your leadership was the stuff of legends. I can't wait to tell my grandchildren about the good you did our country.

Summary: Ronaldus Magnus
Review: Regan told this story about Churchill, while on the GE promotional circuit:Clement Atlee (Labour Party leader) was in the Parliment's john, when Churchill walked in, passed Attlee, and positioned himself at the stall as far from Atlee as possible. Atlee, wanting to ruffle Churchill, said, "Little shy today, aren't we Winnie?" Churchill, thought, then replied, "No no, Atlee, not at all. It's just that every time you Labourites see something large, properly functioning, and privately held, you try to nationalize it."This is one of the many Reagan gems that D'Souza relates in this fantastic portrait of Reagan. I read Lou Cannon's "Role of a Lifetime" biography, and felt my self wanting to say "yeah, but" to the authors snide tone on nearly every page. D'Souza has written a full-length, "yeah, but" that will leave you wishing the book were twice as long.I voted for Teddy Kennedy in the 1980 primary (as a registered Democrat) and voted for Ronaldus Magnus in the general and have never looked back.Funny, that the only negative review I see here of this book is from inside the Academy, the last bastion of the permanently clueless in America. Intereting that he felt the need to assure us that he himself even cheered the fall of the Soviet Union. That passes for objectivity in universities these days.

Summary: Who was Ronald Reagan?
Review: I have always thought that Ronald Reagan was the great American "boffo" of this century. After going to the Reagan library and reading some of the things he said, which distilled complex subjects into extemely clear and simple one sentence conclusions, my curiosity was aroused. Was this guy just reading and acting someone's brilliant scritp, or was Ronald Reagan "real"?

This book seems to explore both sides of the question. The vast amount of information used by the author is amazing, as is the clarity and conciseness of the presentation. I found the conclusions to be shocking. R. Jeffs

Summary: The best book I've read about a political person - EVER!
Review: Simply put, this is the best book I've ever read about a politician. For the millions of Reagan fans, it gives them plenty of evidence to use in their agruments with the closed minded, Network News watching, New York Times reading liberals and intelligencia that control so much of our media, public schools, and universities today. And for those people, this book is a must. It will open their eyes and, if they're honest, will begin to put questions in their mind, and finally, will help them to see that Ronald Reagan was a great man, an honorable man, and a great President.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: D'Souza's does a wonderful job in countering the revisionists' attempts to divest Reagan of his rightful place in history as the man who ended the Cold War and ushered in the era of prosperity that America enjoys today. Anyone who wants to know the truth about the collapse of communism and how Reagan guided this nation through the turbulent 80's must read this book.

Summary: Under 40: Read this book!!
Review: Because you were probably too young (as I was) to really appreciate the significance of what this guy was doing at the time. He came along when the country badly needed someone with a plan and a vision. Watergate was still fresh on our minds and the liberal media were really feeling their oats. If you'll permit the mixed metaphor, the barracuda were easily whipped into a feeding frenzy when they thought they tasted blood in the water. Laughingly, from 1981-1989 it was frequently their own! Many (self-identified) intellectuals from both ends of the political spectrum quickly decided he was a joke that wouldn't last. Some members of that same group, now writing revisionist history, portray him as a kind of Forrest Gump character that stumbled through history benefiting from each turn of events by sheer luck. The preponderance of the evidence suggests otherwise. At times, this book had me laughing 'till my sides ached, but it was also troubling. I now realize how many times he stuck to his guns (no pun intended) when polls, advisors, and "experts" told him he was making a grave error. When the situation demanded it, he saw "Right" and "Wrong" when those around him saw only shades of gray. On issues that cut to the heart of his fundamental beliefs about human nature, he would not be swayed - and lucky for us. Unfortunately, the schools of thought that produced many of these "experts" have increasingly indoctrinated the citizenry with each passing decade. I hope that Reagan's steadfast belief in the wisdom of the American people will continue to be justified.

Summary: An enlightening quick-read.
Review: What a great job by D'Souza. An enlightening study of Reagan's presidency and his political rise to the "top job." It's a quick-read that is easy to understand, and really does a good job of describing the landscape Reagan inherited and how he changed it for the better. Chuck-full with classic Reagan quotes, I recommend this book to anyone who needs to re-charge their conservative battery.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Brilliant - a great book about a great man!
