Rating: Summary: pac Review: a dude like pac only come around once (maybe twice) a life. get this book. it have pictures too.
Rating: Summary: Better Than Dyson, Great Tupac X-Ray Review: A great x-ray of Tupac and a much better book than Michael Eric Dyson's foolish cashing-in on a dead rapper's tattooed body. A lot of stupid stuff has been written by the VIBE and Village/Stone people who just want to make money off 'Pac. REBEL makes you understand Tupac's confusion and the analysis of the rap lyrics are the best I've ever read about a rap star. (The chapter on "Dear Mama" should be included in every school literature class.) I recommend this book to anybody who loves 'Pac and loves hiphop. When Dyson's stupid book goes the way of the dodo, REBEL will still be read. It's the most serious and amazing Tupac book anyone could want.
Rating: Summary: Good but the english version is even better Review: After reading all the controversial articles about how Thunder's Mouth press censored this book, I checked out the original British edition and discovered it was even more brilliant and insightful. It's a great book about Tupac and an even greater book about what rap music means as a poltical and artistic statement. The American version of this book is good but the British version is the best book ever written about rap.
Rating: Summary: Everyone Loved ya TUPAC no matter what ya did Review: Armond White has written this book very carefully and has made it very interesting to read. I only bought the book on Thursday night and i am already on chapter 17. 2PAC was a great achievement to tha Hip-Hop community as much as any other rapper had ever been. In his short reign on top of the Hip-Hop world he spread his message about poverty across the world to his millions of listeners in every country. 2PAC shared great political views with the world and for doin' this some people despised him. This book tells of his upbringing in poverty in the late 1970's and about his family. This book also tells you about 2PAC's struggle in life, because of the many obstiquels that stood in his way. And for that i look up to him as the big brother i never had. You are alway's missed by me. I luv ya TUPAC
Rating: Summary: WILLO 2K1 Review: ARMOND WHITE HASN'T GOT A CLUE. IF YOU WANT A GOOD BIOGRAPHY OR AUTOBIOGRAPHY FIND ONE THAT IS WRITTEN BYE ONE OF TUPAC'S FRIENDS OR FAMILY. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THE TIME LINE AT THE BACK OF THE BOOK AND THE QUOATES AND LYYRICS FROM TUPAC'S SONGS. TUPAC WAS A GREAT MAN AND RAPPER HE WENT THREW HARD TIMES AND ALWAYS PULLED THREW. IF YOU ARE ALIVE COME BACK BECAUSE EMINEM WRECKS HEAD, HE'S WHITE BUT HE WANTS TO BE BLACK AND HE HASN'T GOT A CLUE. IF YOU ARE DEAD REST IN PEACE WHERE EVER YOU ARE.TUPAC RULES 4EVA.
Rating: Summary: Armond White's book stinks Review: Armond White is some nobody who tried to make a quick book by writing about Tupac's death. This book was nothing but a bunch of used quotes White stole from magazines. The writing style is for eggheads, and White's only motivation seems to be to make a few bucks-- he comes across as an unknowledgable egghead vampire trying to dis rap for his entire writing career, then suck up to it when its time to sell his book to HBO.
Rating: Summary: Save your money. Don't buy this book! Review: As a long time Tupac fan I was very disapionted in this book. It was advertised as the life of Tupac, so I was expecting to learn what his day to day life was like but it didn't offer any more insights into his life than the various magazines that covered Tupac had already stated. To make matters worse the writer spends the entire book critisizing Tupac's work comparing it to numerous other rapper's work which he considerd to be better than Tupac's work, my question to him is than why didn't he write a book about one of them, maybe because he knew nobody would buy it. I'll admit that Tupac was no Rakim but the reasonn his work was so important was he made you feel every word he spoke, that is the reason why we're still talking about him almost two years after his death and why we will continue to do so for years to come. In conclusion if you get Vibe and the Source don't waste your money with this book their isn't anything about Tupac's life or legacy in this book that wasn't discused by better writers in those publications, the writer, Armond White is obnoxious and will leave you angered after reading this book. Mr. Write seems incapable of recognizing the positive effect that Tupac had on his millions of fans.
Rating: Summary: A waste of paper-not even worth 1 star Review: Don't even think about picking up this book it is the stupidest Tupac book that will ever be written.Whoever agreed to put this out should of read it and not of put it out because Tupac was bringing in money.I love Tupac more than anybody but I couldn't find anything good about this book save your money and buy the killing of Tupac Shakur that is the best
Rating: Summary: 2Pac THE REAL MAN BEHIND THE MUSIC EVERYBODY LOVED!!! Review: Ever since the first time I heard 2pac rapping with Digital Underground. I feel in love with the lyrics he put out from Brendas got a baby, to Got keep your head up! And so many more. No matter what people though of him as being the THUG N***** he was somebody real. When others never understood where 2pac was coming from he made music that everybody could groove to and understand. He's the one who put potery to its most. The day he passed a way felt like I had lost some one I knew and loved. I'am a true Tupac lover and only wish he was still here blessing everyone and even ME with his True words of wisdom. It's been almost six years since his death and no matter if he's dead or alive he'll continue to put out the music he so muched loved to do and the music everybody loved. This is a man that should've e still been here and listening to his new ablum makes me think if he is still alive and if you are may GOD be with you and you with him in your deepest glory. Bury me as a "G" RIP I LOVE YOU TUPAC. L-Boogie, OKC
Rating: Summary: this was a very truthfull book. Review: EVERYBODY PUT TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR DOWN BECAUSE OF HIS MUSIC AND THE LIFESTLYE HE LIVED. AS FOR THE LIFESTLYE, GOD GAVE HIM THAT LIFESTYLE AND HE LIVED IT. FOR THE MUSIC PART HE ONLY SPOKE OF THE TRUTH AND HE PUT ALL OF THE WORDS TOGETHER IN PHAT SONGS. PEOPLE WERE JUST NOT READY TO HANDLE THIS TRUTHFULNES YET. ALSO PEOPLE DIDNT LIKE HIS MUSIC BECAUSE OF THE WORDS HE USED. BUT NO MATTER WHAT TUPAC WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME. TUPAC AWAY FROM HIS LIFESTYLE AND HIS MUSIC WAS ALSO A GREAT PERSON.
