Summary: Oh Yeah!!
Review: Being a F.A.T. (Fabulos And Thick) woman myself, I am grateful that someone has decided to fight back for us. From her childhood trying out for cheerleading ("do you know how hard it is to get 200 pounds in the air?") To her doing her stand up routine for the KKK, Mo'Nique is sure to open the eyes of many skinny women. I recommend this book for all of us BIG people out there!!

Summary: DISAPPOINTING!!
Review: First off,
I commend Monique for writing this book. It gives a little insight and a whole lot of laughs. I am happy that she is happy to be big and she dresses really nice for a woman of her size. I am also happy that she is confident in herself BUTTT....
1. This book could be very offending to skinny people. Some skinny people eat just as much but can't gain weight.
2. She claims she is happy but then went on to describe her failure after the journey to weight loss. If she had lost the weight she wouldn't mind being a skinny (...) she just CAN'T be one and she seems bitter about it.
3. If BIG women have so many men lined up at their doors, why isn't she married??
4. People can be big and healthy but she is not and I hate that she thinks she is. Anytime you have a double chin, you are gone overboard. If your metabolism is slow, I can emphathize, but if you eat and talk about food as much as this woman then I am soooo sorry for you.
5. Monique is NOT 220 pounds. She may have been at one point in her life but she looks closer to 300. Stop lying to yourself gurl!!
I am not a skinny evil one. I am a size 13 and very toned up with it. To look at me you would never guess that I was damn near 180 pounds. I exercise and eat in moderation. You can eat what you want and not be huge.I eat good food too, btu I don't down skinny women who choose tofu or healthier eating habits. If you are looking for laughs pick this one up. People who are already big will get bigger taking her advice.

Summary: SHE IS A TOTAL LIE
Review: I am a very very close friend of the family, and the hatred she has up inside her is terrible and it is totally one sided. Since she has all this stardom, you would think she would invest in some therapy or a some type of surgery to help her fat A%^ loose some weight. I mean soon she is going to be so big, that they are going to need to use a fish0eyed camera lense to get all of her. In the book, she talked about an aunt who "she claims" is jealous of her, no one in her family is jealous of her, no one was jealous "her father" moved them to the suburbs considering how they got there in th first place, might I say " dirty money". Let's get real people, if a person is going to write a book, then they owe it to their fans and the readers, to at least be honest and trust worthy in the book. I am so embarrased to know this woman, and I feel sorry for her immediate family cause they all live off of her, and once she falls off which will be very soon, the all will be living right back in Baltimore, and where they started from.

Summary: Skinny Women is Hilarious
Review: I couldn't resist reading this book. Saw it on a table in a Borders bookstore; took a peek, and started laughing right then. A few weeks later I bought the book and read it within a few hours. The thing I remember the most about Skinny Women Are Evil is laughing. Screaming. Wiping tears. Gasping for breath. It's a very funny book and may just affect you to that degree. Mo'Nique is a brash, unapologetic, tell-it-like-it-is type of sistah. And although I couldn't relate to most of the scenarios she described for her life as a big women, I could relate to some. (Eg. Last year this short and skinny guy asked me if I was pregnant. Very embarrassing to have a fat tummy but no baby is inside. Oh well.). A lot of her material, however, should be relatable whether you're a thick sistah or a skinny one. It's all about how we treat others regardless of size, and how we feel about ourselves regardless of size. The writing style is conversational and laid back. She lays it on thick when it comes to folk who have hurt her in the past; and you find yourself rooting for Mo'Nique and admiring her spunk and determination to make it in show business. It is a book that might cause you to think and I applaud her for having the guts to reveal what is on her mind.

Summary: love u monique
Review: I don't care what anyone says, Mo'Nique is brillant. She is a wonderful person and cares about others. I too am a plus size person, with low self esteem but thanks to her, I feel better about me. I learned not to care what anyone else thinks as long as I think highly of myself, nothing else matters. All those who have something negative to say, thats ok, because I know that it's jealosy making you act that way. Don't hate on Mo because she feels good about herself. Mo if you read this, I just want you to know that you are my idol and I wouldn't care if you wrote a book in chinese.. it would still be funny!! Be encouraged and keep doing what you're doing, you have my support!! go girl..

Summary: IF YOU WANT TO READ STANDUP... BUY IT
Review: I expected more from Mo'nique when I selected this book. The book is hard to follow and unorganized. She fails to truly give solid advice to overweight women. The book is her stand up material. I have seen her in concert. If you have too, don't buy the book unless you want to READ her material. It is definitely a library checkout not a purchase.

Summary: Funny - But Doesn't Echo the Sentiments of All BBW
Review: I found Mo'Nique's stories from her own personal experiences to be very humorous. Her tone in the book is the same as if you were to see her perform live. You get the sense that she is just 'kickin' it with her girls'. A couple of her stories were so funny that as I read the book in public places like the bus or the train, I tried not to appear as though I had lost it - especially at the one where she describes her date gone wrong with a football player from the Baltimore Ravens. She tells a story so vividly that you can almost visualize everything happening.

I was a little put off though by some of her 'recommendations/assertions' because they were more her personal views and do not necessarily pertain to or accurately reflect on all women of size. For example, not every large woman is going to go to a happy hour and load her purse with food. She also mentions her frustration at her experience in the gym, but didn't mention or perhaps forgot that there are some large women in aerobics classes who can outshine some of the 'skinnys' in there and keep up with the pace.

I wouldn't however, go so far as to say that Mo'Nique has succeeded in her crusade for the equality of all large women. If anything, she may have only perpetuated a few more stereotypes about us (like with her examples of running to a fast food joint immediately following a workout.) Overall, I think that if you want a good laugh, or are dealing with a bout of low self esteem because of your weight, this is a great pick me up.

Summary: Food Is Good
Review: I have not read the book but the subject is something i must talk about. there's nothing wrong with skinny girls and there's nothing wrong with big girls. i myself am a big girl. sometimes i don't like what i see and sometimes i'm proud 2 be considered healthy. it shouldn't matter what a person looks like as long as they're happy. i'm a chef and i know that society does push being thin a little too far. they say that eating certain foods is bad for your health when in fact it's not true. its not what you eat its how much you eat. if a big girl eats fast food once every three months thats not going to cause her to gain 50 pounds or so!!! same thing vice versa. so skinny girls who don't eat alot of food go eat something real fatty full of carbs and sugar and everything else they say thats bad for you and ENJOY IT! same things goes for us big girls.

Summary: The Book will Have you Rolling....But love Yourself!
Review: I just purchase this book a few days ago. I always liked MO'NIQUE on "The Parkers". i decided to buy this book because of the catchy tile. This book had me laughed out loud and agreeing with some funny facts regarding weight. You will realize that some "skinny women are evil", but you also need to love yourself. No, she's not saying to be F.A.T and proud, but to love yourself at any weight. To be Healthy, Wealthy and Wise. You will enjoy her wit and down to earth facts about weight and the Evil Hollywood standards of Beauty.. So, My advice would be to love yourself, read the book and reach for the Icecream....girlfriend!!!...but just not the whole carton! ok, if you do, forgive yourself and love your self even more!
