Review: Just finished reading the Dirt for the 2nd time.... Only gets better folks. I know me, and my friends. We have commented on how we know how to party, hit it hard, tear it up, etc.... But then we have to recoup, and re-energize. Motley's life style back at their peak would have KILLED the strongest of us.Nikki is a rock god. Tommy is pure energy. Vince is selfish, but the way a lead is supposed to be. Micks guitar made the band go (in my mind). BUY THIS BOOK!

Review: and they are not lying to you, "The Dirt' is probably the sickest book out there, and you know what, I don't care, the story of Motley Crue is not one for the light at heart, I'm sick of people telling me that they hated this book, well, it helped me out a lot actually, the parts written by Nikki Sixx really helped me out through my depression, because I could relate to him quite a bit, and I would like to say that we both came out alright, this is the best rock n' roll biography, forget that, the best music biography out there, read this only if you have an open mind and a strong stomach

Summary: This book made me angry
Review: I'm about halfway through as I write this...previous reviews are correct in that you simply can't put this book down, mainly because every time you think the band has sunk to the deepest depths of depravity, they surprise you by going further. This is a story of how four people who lived like utter pigs and treated themselves and those around them with utter disdain made millions of dollars with very little talent. The book makes me angry because I hate to see people with no values and minimal talent retire before age 30 with more money than they'll hope to spend in a lifetime. Still, the book is a bona fide page-turner, and I'll likely read it again and again with the fascination of watching a car crash.

Summary: You Won't Put It Down
Review: This no-holds barred book has EVERYTHING regarding the history of Motley Crue; the music, the makeup, the girls, the violence, the drugs, and all else you could possibly desire. Anything you want to know straight from the mouths of Nikki, Tommy, Vince, and Mick...it's all inside of here. After reading this book you will feel like you know each member of Motley Crue personally. Though certain situations these guys were involved in as they tell in the book made me look at them as scum at times, when the book wrapped up, I realized each one of these guys are human. They've done some fxcked up shxt but unlike most groups have the balls to tell about it, and I respect that. I just hope they can put away their problems and do their long awaited 2005 reunion tour!

If I was a movie producer, would get the rights straight away. I read this book in one day, it is so intense. Buy it you will not regret it !!!!!

Summary: I HAVE NOW READ IT for the 4TH TIME
Review: It just gets better everytime! I have had this book for about 2 years now. I read it about every 6 months and each time I find something that I didn't find before. I have had NUMEROUS friends borrow it and read it to the point that the front cover is all ripped up from it being read so much. Just an all around great read for a girl like me who lived and loved the 80's and was got kicked off the cheerleading team for wearing a MOTLEY t shirt to school. My ultimate dream is that one day in the near future that they will put there sh*t together and go on one more kick a** tour...I would be in the front row. I love Motley and always will..they define the 80's for me which was also the GREATEST time of my life. Please read it over and over and share it with friends. It is well worth it.

Summary: I read it twice!
Review: I found this book really hard to put down! There was not a dull moment in this book. This gives you graphic detailed account of what really goes on in the music industry. I found Nikki's stories very interesting,and most disturbing, such a truthfull discription of drug use and abuse,self hate,relationships with women,and his own family. Tommy's writing was excellent.His relationships and Pamela. Vince with his crushing story about his daughter that passed away from cancer and how he delt with this event and himself. Mick's secret health problems, I had no idea. I even read the book 2 times!

Summary: This IS rock&roll!
Review: I bought this book to have something to read over the easter holidays. A friend warned me and said I better by some more books, because I would not be able to put this one down. And oh! was he right! I ended up reading the whole way while walking home! It is hilarious, it is sad, it is crazy, it is pure rock&roll, and one of the best books about an unforgettable era in music. The way it is written, how the members remember things totally differently makes for great reading. And finally finding out more about the enigmatic Mick Mars, it all sums up to be The Great American Rock&Roll Biography.

Summary: These guys are lucky to be alive
Review: Motley Crue make Aerosmith look like Cub Scouts. I was shocked reading this book about how close to death this band came to because of the drugs, alcohol, etc. Almost every band member had a pretty strange or bad childhood and, at least for Nikki Sixx, is what drove them to the decadent things they would do in their adult years(and I use "adult" loosely). A very entertaining read but disturbing at the same time. Vince Neil to this day has alcohol problems and in this book he attributes it to the death of his daughter Skyler of cancer. Another surprising moment comes in the book where Mick Mars decribes his health problems that is accelerating as he gets older. I've heard talk this book was going to be made into a movie. That would be very interesting to see... hopefully, it won't be lame and it will be true to the book and they will choose the right actors. This band is lucky to be alive. It's been 7 years since their "reunion" CD "Generation Swine".... hopefully they will return but judging from this book, it does not seem likely. And to Tommy Lee: stop saying 'dude' and 'bro' every other sentence. The guy can't even talk correctly in a book!

Summary: Crucial Crue- A must read
Review: The Dirt is the story of four misfits who united to form one of the greatest rock bands of the 1980s. Unfortunatley, Motley Cure is frequently remembered for their bad-boy images and legal troubles and not for the great music that was a soundtrack for man of us growing up in the 80s. In the book, Nikki, Tommy, Vince and Mick finally get a chance to tell their own story...the best they can remember it. We read about the days before Motley Crue...Mick busting his butt playing in band after band, Tommy and Nikki playing the bars in search of the perfect band and Vince discovering that he could actually sing. The four joined forces in the early 80s and changed the face of music. In the process, the slept with thousands of random women, went through countless wives and girlfriens and injected all forms of drugs into their bodies. After reading the book, it's a miracle that these guys are all still alive or not in prison, although the guys did spend their share of time in jail over the years. Perhaps the best part of the book was that Mick Mars, who has long been in the shadows of the legend of Motely Crue, finally gets to set the record straight and tell his own story. Mick, for the first time, talks about his own demons and about the difficulty of working with 3 egomaniacs like Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil. Nikki and Vince often come off like sniveling little brats who are just screaming for attention, but isn't that what the music is all about. Motley Crue is all about decadence and glamour. Tommy's story is more of a guy who still, after all of these years, has yet to discover himself. Throughout his marital problems and even while in jail, Tommy remained a child at heart, who's biggest fear was being ingored. Read the book...It's a great testament to a great rock and roll band. And no other book better captures the spirit of the "Decade of Decadence". And after you're done reading...put on "Shout at the Devil".....
