Rating: Summary: Incredible Family Review: "Lo, I will be with you always" will always mean much more to me now. This incredible young lady and her family are so inspirational to our family. My 20 year old daughter who has to be pressured to read a book, picked up my copy at 10 pm and read all night until she finished it. Not one of us was able to get through the entire book dry-eyed. The chapter by Jane was probably the biggest eye-opener for me. We don't take time usually to think about the healthy child who is thrown into a situation that demands so much attention be focused away from them. A must read.
Rating: Summary: A must read!!! Review: "The Spirit of Lo", is such a reality in the life of CF. Being a parent of a chronically ill child has so many ups and downs and the Detrich's didn't hold back on their true feelings. I have been inspired by each and every memeber of the Detrich family. How can you not be. They have shown such strength, courage and dedication in their battle of battles.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: Can anyone imagine what it is like to have a disease that is incurable? Having read The Spirit of Lo, I can relate to the life of a family dealing with Cystic Fibrosis. I read the book in one week, and could hardly put it aside. I could never understand why some families go through more tragedies than others. The Detrich family has been through so many and have managed to make it through all of them. They are amazing! Their life, their love, and hope for a cure shines through all. I wish them the best with their family and The Spirit of Lo.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Story of a Family full of Love Review: Excellent story of a family's struggle to keep their faith and hope alive. Their daily battle with Cystic Fibrosis and the effects of the battle on their lives is a must read for anyone who needs an uplifting story. I was genuinely moved by this family's faith, courage, hope, and determination. This family defines for all of us what it means to live life to the fullest and to face your problems with conviction and determination.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! Review: Hats off to the Detrich family. This book is an inspiration to us all! I have a greater understanding and appreciation to those affected by terminal illness. Thank you for sharing your family's story.
Rating: Summary: Through the Eyes of a Nurse Review: Having been a cystic fibrosis nurse for the past 18 years, I have seen many families go through many of the experiences that the Detrichs share in their book. I feel that this is an excellent resource for all CF families and caregivers as a means of making what they are all experiencing a documented reality. It also lets other CF families know that what they are feeling is "normal" and that they are not alone. Sometimes these things provide as much help and healing for the family as the medications and treatments do for the patients.
Rating: Summary: "WHAT A STORY" Review: HOW COULD ANYONE NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK? THIS IS SUCH A TOUCHING STORY. IT IS SO INSIGHTFUL AND UPLIFTING. THE DETRICH FAMILY HAS STRUGGLED WITH MANY OBSTACLES IN THEIR LIFE. EACH OF YOU WILL LOVE THE SHORT STORY IN THE BOOK BY JANE DETRICH. JANE SHARES HER FEELINGS ON A DAY IN THE LIFE OF HER SISTER, LO DETRICH. READ THIS BOOK AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF WHAT LIFE IS LIKE IN THE DETRICH HOUSEHOLD. THIS BOOK CAN DEFINATELY CHANGE A LIFE FOREVER.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! Review: I could not put this book down. Being a CF patient I got a better understanding of what my parents and family went through. Lo should be an inspirartion and role model for young people everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: I could not put this book down. Being a CF patient I got a better understanding of what my parents and family went through. Lo should be an inspirartion and role model for young people everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Lo's Story Will Be With Me Always Review: I cried my tears as I read your story. I am still in awe over the ability of the human spirit in adversity. Lo and her family have touched thousands of hearts thru their lives and thru their book, no doubt inspiring countless others to stretch themselves to do something they fear is impossible, or to forge ahead when life seems like "too much to handle". Now, when I catch myself complaining about anything at all, I remember the Deitrichs, and the fact that Lo has to "fight" for every breath she takes. I humbly shift into gratitude for my life and my health, and I send loving thoughts to this and other CF families, and pray that my strength may be equal to theirs if I am ever faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, odds that they live with every single day. Thank you for opening your lives to others.
