Summary: What it's like to be "on the job" fighting fire.
Review: Fires and firefighters have fascinated people since the days of the bucket brigade. In this book, Steve Delsohn has taken the time to get behind the scenes, and talk to the men and women who do the backbreaking, dirty work that is firefighting.

This is a closed society, just because no one else can understand what it is we see day in and day out. Among us are the Samaritans wishing only to help others, the adrenaline junkies who groove on the rush you get going in to a burning building, and the guys who just like the days off.

A lot of people try to get on the job, and not many make it. This is your chance to see what it's like, and who the real people are who man (person?) the firestations around this country. After reading it, you'll understand why I'm proud to call all of them my brothers.

Summary: excellent!
Review: I read this book before I began my firefighter training (that I am now half way through), and it made me think about the dangers, the stresses and many other occupational hazards that I would encounter. However, rather than being detered, I was ecouraged, and appreciated reading the candid insights from other firefighters.

Summary: Firefighters speak from the heart
Review: In The Fire Inside Steve Delsohn got firefighters to candidly speak about their most dangerous job. They tell of the trauma of dealing with the victums of fire, the misery in the strret, but the comaraderie they find with other firefighters. Highly recommended to anyone interest in firefighting.

Summary: The Fire Inside: FireFighters talk about their lives
Review: The Fire Inside: FireFighters talk about their lives. Written by Steve Delson is the the most vivid and sometimes raw, but always true to their nature, book ever written about these every day heroes. In their own words they tell about the horrors and the joys that go along with this ever changing profesion. The book would probably be best read by adults, because of the sometimes vulgar and graphic language that is used in the book. This book is a must for every fire buff or anyone curious about this strange, but always rewarding job

Summary: Straight from the men whom face the flames
Review: This book is an uncensored snapshot of primarily paid firefighters and their jobs. The book is best for more mature audiences as the material discussed is sometime quite graphic and disturbing. Of course, this is a real strength of the book as readers disturbed by the contents are only then able to begin to understand the emotional stress of being a firefighter. The book has its 'high' points as well as firefighters recall the many successful and rewarding endeavors they face daily. As a business professional AND volunteer firefighter, I found this book to be the proverbial 'pat on the back' that we firefighters occasionally need. I do wish the book had more snip-its from volunteer firefighters.
