Rating: Summary: Great Book!!! A must read if you can handle the truth!! Review: The only people that wouldn't like this book. are the liberals who can't handle the truth or it coming out. I applaud Starr's effort for exposing the liberal democrats REAL agenda for blacks in this country. Government induced poverty, control and dependance. As a conservative black male, what she writes isn't ground breaking. It did however 100% validate what I knew as being true! If you haven't been exposed to the truth, then for you it WILL be ground breaking!!
Rating: Summary: a horrible contribution to society Review: This is not a "must read for Young Black Christians." Rather, this is the most unChristian book I have ever read! While on earth, Christ fed the poor and hungry and reached out to the outcasts. Would Christ call the poor "welfare brats" or elected officials "pimps"? I doubt it. As a Christian, I am horrified by this woman's "Gospel of Wealth." The love of money is the root of all evil, as the Bible says. Yet, Starr Parker loves it! She loves money and shows it in her book. This lady's ideas are also ridiculous and harsh. She supports eliminating Affirmative Action. She wants Rush Limbaugh(no friend of blacks, I can assure you!)for President! She bashes the great Gen. Colin Powell. She wants to totally ELIMINATE the MINIMUM WAGE. Folks - we're dealing with an extremist! She defies King's progressive and Christian legacy for change and forward looking progressivism. As for Parker's love of the Republican party, I can only say that the Republican party is no friend of blacks - that is a fact. How can a party which wants to eliminate Affirmative Action, attack civil rights and bash the Minimum Wage and labor and the poor be friends of blacks? Yet, they are friends of Parker. Of course they are, they are both in the pursuit of money! This book is a horrible contribution to our society. Parker gives racists great amunition here.
Rating: Summary: Must Reading Review: Very rarely do we open our souls to outsiders, but Mrs. Parker has done that and she has done it with flair. As a Black man who has livied most of his life in the Black Community, I can relate to Mrs. Parker and some of the things she writes about. I agree one hundred percent with her views on our Welfare System, it truly makes people LAZY! I highly recommend this book for Black Sisters who are enslaved by Welfare, and to my Black brothers handle your business. Take care of what you lie down and concieve. GOD, not drugs not alcohol, not prisons and not fatherless children is the answer.
Rating: Summary: A Must for Avid Readers Review: Very rarely do we open our souls to strangers, but Mrs. Parker has done it and done it beautifully. As a Black man who has livied his entire lifein the Black Community, I can relate to what Mrs. Parker speaks about in her book. Her comments about our Welfare System are right on the money, it makes people LAZY! Sometimes we as Black folk hate when we are confronted with the truth, but while reading this book I'm sure a lot of readers will recognize a lot of people. Like we like to say,"Don't hate the player, hate the game." in other words we all make dumb mistakes. And most of them are made when we're young. I recommend this book highly, especially for young women who think Welfare is the subsitute for your childs father. After trying everything the Devil had to offer, Mrs. Parker found out that Our Lord Jesus Christ is the true ANSWER! To my young sisters buy this book and read it carefully and openly, to my young brothers. Take care of what you lay down and concieve. Remember children do not ask to come here! God Bless you and your's Mrs. Parker.
Rating: Summary: Star Parker tells it like it is Review: Wow! What a book! First, I couldn't put it down. It is a well-written account of a black woman who has found POWER for herself and her family and her future, and is willing to tell us all the recipe. Her language, her thoughtfulness, and her passion all combine to make this book a great read. A times in the story, the hairs raised on the back of my neck, because the book so perfectly stated things I've been thinking for so long. An excellent book for young Christian blacks. You will be as excited as I was. This is an excellent book for anyone to read. Let's pull ourselves together.
