Review: Potential Readers,During the reading of this book, it is amazing that this is the author's first publication. He really created the moods and emotion of his trip. It was like I was really with the Gaines family on this adventure. Furthermore, being an African American, this book illustrated the value and importance of finding one's roots. In reflection of some of the author's encounterments, it certainly inspired me to make a pilgrimage and dig for the truths of my family history abroad.

James has done an excellent job journaling his entire trip allowing readers to experience all of the emotions and realities of taking such a journey to find one's own roots.

Review: The book was excellent! I couldn't put it down. Knowing that it was the author's first publication, I did not know what to expect. After reading what seemed to be only a couple of hours, I was amazingly surprised! The author did a tremendous job conveying his deepest emotion and added wonderful humor! I highly recommend this book!
