Rating: Summary: This is an artfully created songbook. Review: Even if you have no knowledge of music this book can be enjoyable and informative. Put together by Storm Thorgerson (creater of most Pink Floyd album covers) this book has insightful interviews with bandmembers and alternative art from the album. Simply a joy to look at.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Production Review: Have you ever wanted to do those blue riffs with the song Shine on you crazy diamonds? or play that great starting solo on wish you were here? now with this book you can, Excellent job (as always) by David Gilmour. It also has an interview at the beginning of the book so you are really getting what you paid for and more, oh, by the way guys, it's Pink Floyd so why do you even bother to read the reviews, just buy the damn thing, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I reaaly thought this book was helpful to see the masters art better
Rating: Summary: good book, great songs. Review: one of pink floyds greatest albums. excellent songs. welcome to the machine is great. if you like to play floyd music, buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Good content, sub-par construction Review: The tablature is decent, although there are some mistakes as with all tab books.
My main complaint is that the book itself is falling apart (it is brand new and unabused). Pages are falling out which makes playing & reading/flipping pages simultaneously very difficult.
There is a good interview with Roger Waters at the beginning, as well as period photographs, which are always a nice addition.
The songs are not printed in the order they appear on the album, but since the pages are falling out, I suppose you can rearrange them any way you wish.
Overall, this is a very good note-for-note transcription of one of Gilmour's greatest achievments.
Rating: Summary: Shine on... Review: This is easily the best tablature book I have EVER come across...and I've seen and used quite a few. The very complete and precise notation of some of pink floyd's best work was done with great attention to detail. the pictures are great and capture a great time for the floyd. if you like Pink Floyd you will love this book. it's worth it just for the wish you were here tab....priceless!!!
Rating: Summary: NOT guitar tab Review: This is not mentioned in the book info, so I'll say that it's the Piano/Vocal edition. As Piano/Vocal editions go, this one is great, usually the piano part will have the vocal part in with the piano writing, but in this book they are kept seperate. The only thing missing are the guitar solos, which are virtually nonexistant except in Shine On You Crazy Diamond (which even then loses a few instrumental parts) but it's a very good book to use to make your own arrangements.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful... Review: This is one of the most complete books of music I have ever seen. David Gilmour's baeutiful guitar work has been transcribed quite precisely, providing for great ease while "playing-along" with the album, or duplicating the music oin your own. If only there were such a book for The Final Cut....
