Summary: A moving account of every parent's worst nightmare.
Review: Though John Walsh does talk in a somewhat staccato-like tone, I'd hardly compare him to the barely speaking Jack Webb. The first portion of the book led me to dislike John Walsh somewhat, with his constantly praising himself. I expected he'd have an ego as large as John Douglas, and that, if he looked in a mirror, he'd say, "Wow, handsome!" As the book progressed, however, I could see that this was a literary device for showing a man who thought he was invincible, faced with a tragedy no one of us as parents even wants to imagine. Though the last chapter or two dragged in terms of literary merit, in the bulk of the book, John Walsh did a remarkable job of telling a devastating story with an enormous amount of integrity, restraint and passion. This is the only true crime reading I've ever done where I wept while reading the book. Walsh's account of his beloved, small son, and his devastating tale of that child's remains, will haunt me always. While here is a man who turned tragedy into saving the lives of countless children, his unbearable pain is evident throughout. One has the knowledge that this family will never get over the horrid, ghastly and oh-so-tragic loss of Adam Walsh's descriptions of the first hours after Adam was abducted are so horrifying, I stayed awake, just watching my son, long after I'd finished the book.. I found this an enormously brave and courageous book.

Summary: One of the best true crime books I've ever read
Review: My heart goes out to John and Reve Walsh and their family after reading this book. Ever since I was little, my parents would warn me about wandering off and a couple of times, they even made reference to this case and now I know what they were talking about. It must be the hardest thing in the world to cope with and I really feel for the Walshes. A great book. One of the best I've ever read.

Summary: A POWERFUL ILLUSTRATION OF A CHILD'S VULNERABILITY!!!!!!!!!!
Review: With one book, a greiving father tells how he had a lost a beloved son, the torment he and his family went through to try to catch the son's killer and how he ended up hunting down criminals today. Also, a searing expose on how badly Sears, a major American department store, treated an average American family and contributed to the kidnapping and death of a very vulnerable little boy. I will never shop at Sears again.

Summary: We need more men like John Walsh!!
Review: It is quite unfortunate that the death of John Walsh's son Adam would bring him to be the man who became such a crusader for justice. He is definitely a man that American's plus all surrounding areas should be proud of.

Summary: I would recommend this book to all true crime fans.
Review: I am a real true crime fan and this is by far the best personal account of a tragedy that I have ever read. I have always admired John Walsh and known of his tragedy, but this is the first chance I have had to get an inside view of the grief, pain, and outrage that the parents of a murdered child must feel. I was also interested in his views on the politics of the legislative process when it comes to children's and victim's rights. John Walsh tells it like it is!! As the mother of a child with a disability, I have new found respect for those parents who have sacrifice personally, financially, and emotionally to get laws passed that protect and serve children whether it be regarding the abuse and exploitation of children or special education issues. I would urge everyone to read this book and find out about victim's rights and child protective legislation on the state and federal level. Write your legislators and urge them to support the causes that Mr. Walsh and so many other parents have and are advocating. Mr. Walsh, thank you for this tragic personal account of your heartbreak. I, for one, will become more involved in protecting the rights of children and crime victims in our society.

Summary: The Best Book I Have ever Read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: John Walsh show's all of us the power of the Human Spirit as he defends the memory of his son Adam, by sharing his most personal and tragic experience. This book is a must read for all parents and for every human being. John Walsh is a true American hero and in my eye's the epitimy of what all of us as human being's should strive to be!

Summary: agonizing, but should be required reading
Review: I've always had some admiration for Mr Walsh, and this book merely amplified it.The heroism shown by he and his family was deeply touching. In an odd way,the moments where he shows that he is as flawed as anyone were the parts that got to me the most-hes not a hero, just a man trying to do whats right. I had to stay up 17 hours to finish this book-I was simply crying to hard in some parts to be able to set it aside.
