Summary: Fine effort. Great insight.
Review: Turning around the Disney organization was no small task for Mike Eisner...and a task he was prepared to accomplish. What this book succeeds in illustrating was the organizational culture of Disney pre-Eisner, the changes necessary to make things move forward, and a somewhat objective assessment of major initiatives since that time.

Certainly Eisner has a point of view. His heart attack changed his life. So there is a thematic construct here...change, change and more change. Change in management, how the organization does business, change in how Disney is viewed by others and itself.

Expecting that the book would be more critical of the organization is unrealistic. I found Eisner to be relatively self-critical and when I finished the book, having learned of his education and values, with a better opinion of this guy.

Readable, informative, balanced, this is a good book.

Summary: A look into the man named Michael Eisner
Review: When Michael Eisner took over the realm of Disney, many people including myself asked who is he? This book answers that question and shows how Disney went through tough times after Walt's death to become a multimedia giant. Michael Eisner shares the thoughts of innovation and alignment of all the components to make a quality product time and again. A great management book for fans who love quality products and LOVE Disney!

Summary: Eisner dulls his listeners with CEO Ramblings
Review: While some of Mike's stories \are intersting, the book tends to drift off into useless allegories that don't connect together. Especially tedious is Mike's attention to detail, like names of associates and names of friends of associates. IN addition, the book lacks the philosophical rigour that would make his story all the more interesting.

Summary: An exceptionally well-written book.
Review: WORK IN PROGRESS is a unique book written with the intimacy of a novel and the insight of a business case study. This candid memoir by one of America's most intriguing business personalities is fresh, often funny, and at all times fascinating. A must-read!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: One of the best books on management I've ever read
Review: WORK IN PROGRESS is as much a motivational book on how to be successful as it is an autobiography. Mr. Eisner proves that you don't have to have all the credentials to make it to the top in corporate America. I was inspired by his ability to see potential in people who might not have the experience. This should be required reading for all managers.

Summary: Great insight into one the greats of the entertainment indus
Review: Work In Progress provides an inside look at Michael Eisner's life and how he has become one of the greats in the entertainment industry. Eisner's experience and management style provides a lot of useful ideas for entrepeneurs in any type of business. This book also highlights the creativity Eisner has. A must read!

Summary: Interesting at first, too "Disney" at the end.
Review: Work in Progress starts out well. Eisner begins by taking readers through his early years in the media world, through his rise as a TV executive, to his current role as Disney chief. It is an interesting read to see how he moved up the ladder and how he felt along the way. Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle, the book evolves into a hardcover version of a Disney shareholder's report and loses its charm.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Give Mr. Eisner his due
Review: Yes, Michael Eisner may be arrogant, overpaid and unwilling to groom a successor. I thought all this before reading this book. I do, however, have a newfound respect for Mr. Eisner after reading about his background, insights, career progress and performance at Disney. I was also pleasantly surprised to read about his discussion of some of Disney's failures. This book was a great read and, as Amazon pointed out, a unique look from the inside of a media and entertainment powerhouse.
