Summary: shaq talks
Review: SHAQ'S BOOK WAS ENTERTAINING YET IT LACKED DEPTH. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LIKE SHAQ BUT THIS BOOK IS NOT PUT TOGETHER VERY WELL NOT EDITED. IN ONE CHAPTER SHAQ TALKS ABOUT HIS CHILDHOOD AND CARING FOR HIS BROTHER'S AND SISTERS, BUT HE LEAVES THINGS ON A CLIFFHANGER. THIS IS VERY FUSTRATING BECASUE YOU AS THE PUBLIC WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS YET HE SKIPS OVER TO SOME OTHER SUBJECT AND LEAVES WHAT HE STARTED. I DID THINK THE BOOK WAS ENTERTAINING YET I FELT IT WAS NOT EDITED PROPERLY SO THAT IT FLOWED.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Must read for all Laker/shaq fans
Review: This book gives you the inside scoop of a lot of things that went down in the privacy of the Laker lockeroom. Its really good for basketball junkies like me.

Summary: Verbosity deminishes an otherwise candid and compelling book
Review: This book is a definite page-turner. I have to admit that once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in one sitting. All that he had to say about his childhood, and his life on and off the court was all very interesting, but his book is massively repetative. This book seems like the first draft of something that needs to undergo several revisions. There are several pieces of information that he repeats over and over. In fact, at one point he even repeated the same piece of information twice on the same page. This book is a little over 250 pages in length, but he could have cut that number in half and still gotten his message across. However, Shaq is an athlete, and not an author, so it doesn't make sense to be overly critical. This is still a great book that I would highly recommend.

Summary: The Big Author Writes a Winner
Review: This is a terrific book for all ages. I learned about Shaq and his winning ways and found useful pieces of advice to use in my own personal and professional life. For example the way Shaq communicates differently depending on his audience, he might speak one way to his "crew" or "doggs", but in another manner entirely when conducting business or trying to get Bill Gates to provide computers for the "hood". Terrific Stuff! I'll be using those techniques everyday.

Shaq expounds on life lessons he has learned, coming up in the 'hood and overseas, big tall, his money and more. The wit and wisdom of Shaq is truly unsurpassed in the entire catalog of autobiographies of active Western Conference NBA centers.

I have looked to a number of NBA greats for life lessons. For many years I tried to use Pat Riley's techniques to find my winner within, but frankly, to no avail. More recently, with some success, I have looked to Phil Jackson for spiritual advice while turning to Bill Bradley on the more mundane topics of anti-ballistic missile treaties and MAD, environmental policy, healthcare, and prescription coverage for our elderly. (I have a small anger management problem and I am looking forward to any advice either Latrell Sprewell or PJ Carlisimo may be able to provide.) But now I am all about the Big Aristotle - Shaq's words are all I need to make myself a winner on every level!

Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: This is an excelent book that gives a good insight on the life of one of the best basketball players of all time. After reading this book I have gained much more respect for shaq then I used to. He has had an extremly hard life compared to an average person but he knew he wanted to play basketball so he put his mind to it and did. This book is a must read for any Shaq fan, or even basketball fan.

Summary: Youth Pastor's Wife
Review: What is a 33 year old Youth Pastor's Wife doing reading this book? Relating. Understanding. Enjoying. I'll admit, I could live without the strong language in this book, but Shaq's honesty and vulnerablility in every line of this book is a freeing experience that no adult should miss out on. My husband received this book as a birthday gift and we're cuttin' deals over who get's to spend 10 minutes with it. I've worn out my highlighter and plan to use those highlighted segments to teach my students and myself on areas such as leadership, followers, what it means to give your all, the sacrifices of a winner, being BIG enough to admit your faults, and on and on. Shaq Talks Back is a book that's worth my time. Shaq Talks back is a book that reveals the man behind the Big Man. Don't miss out. Do yourself a favor, read it, enjoy it and apply it.

Summary: Surprising.
Review: When I saw that this book was not ghost-written I had to see what the Laker big man Shaquille had to say. I was scared that he would hold himself back and not really say anything. Boy was I wrong. He talks about everything that I would have wanted him to talk about; the finals, winning the championship, his quotes, Kobe, Rodman, Phil Jackson, the Lakers, other teams, other players, etc. He may not be 'The Big Hemmingway' but he has something interesting to say. Before you bash him, you should ask yourself what other person today would write an autobiography without a ghost-writer? This is a surpising book and well worth reading.

Summary: If You Believe This...
Review: Wowie! That Shaq is SUCH a nice fellow. It's so refreshing to read such an honest account of an athelete's life. Yeah, right!

It's quite apparent that people who reviewed this book (book critics and readers) didn't research the "facts" as presented by Shaq. The book is actually a fun read as long as the reader understands that it is a fictional autobiography.

Shaq claims that, as a kid, he sat in the nosebleed seats of the Alamo Dome to watch the Spurs. FACT: The Spurs did not start playing in the dome until after Shaq became a pro.

He complains that Lenny Wilkens played him for 43 seconds in the gold medal game at the Olympics. Shaq must be getting forgetful in his old age. He played five minutes and had two points.

If you like fiction, then I recommend you buy this book. If you want fact, then read the news.
