Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WASP, Prep & Anglophile... Review: Tailor-made on Saville Row for the American, male, prep-school Anglophiliac, of which, for better or for worse, I ressemble, Paul Watkins' "Stand Before Your God" brought me back into the schoolboy world of English and American boarding schools, especially the multifarious social and economically derived snobberies. It gives the reader a visceral sense of a taken-for-granted lifestyle and the assumed noblesse oblige of preppies from a prior generation. Watkins writes well and evocatively, the above caveats excepted...

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An Incredible Read for a Laugh! Review: This book was so good, and what I needed for a laugh. I learned of Mr. Watkins when he came to my high school last year for a creative writing festival, and I had the pleasure of listening to him speak, as well as converse with him about his writing. He has lived up to everyone of my expectations. I cannot wait to read another one of his books!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Thanks for suggesting a great book Julia.. Review: This is a great book for anyone, in any case. For the reader who needs a project for school, or just someone looking to be enlightened, there isn't anything quite better than this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A fascinating look inside a different world Review: This week I read Mr. Watkin's memoir for the third time, and it was every bit as fascinating and enjoyable as the first. Watkins is the most gifted writer I have ever come across. His moving and often funny account of growing up in two elite (to say the least) English boarding schools demonstrates his talent for observation and description, as well as his ease in establishing the personality and essence of each player in his work. Regardless of Watkin's undeniable skill as a writer, this unique personal experience affords us the oppurtunity to look inside a world few of us will ever see- and it's not like what you'd expect. If you've never read Mr. Watkin's work before, this is a good place to start.
