Review: This is a delightful book and is essential reading for anyone who enjoyed "The Sound of Music" play or movie. There are apparently substantial differences between the real von Trapp family and that portrayed in the fictionalized version of their story, and it was fascinating to discover the true story. It was particularly interesting to learn more about the mother and father of seven of the ten children who eventually became part of the singing family. The many photographs in the book bring the story to life, and the author's drawings -- completed as the author was growing up and inserted in sections of the story that correspond to the time at which the drawings were made -- were absolutely charming. This book is both meaningful and entertaining.
