Summary: THE best book I have ever read
Review: Gerda was a very alive character.(how do you spell that anyway?) I could not believe that this was a true story...what she survived was more than I could think possible. Before reading this book I did not realize how inhumane people could be. So many of the things written in this book made me question the things about my life. I am thirteen years old and know that you are now not taking anything I say seriously anymore because of that, but I promise that that you will never forget reading this novel. It opens you mind to such a different view of the war than grade twelve socials did (or so I've heard).

Summary: This book was a mix of sadness and joy.
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I think it was amazing how Gerda lived through all of her troubles. It was like God was watching her.I think it was good of Gerda to tell everyone about her hardships. This way everyone can see how lucky to be living now , instead of then.

Summary: This is the best book I have ever read!
Review: All But My Life is the true story of one girls life during the second world war. Gerda Weissmann Klein writes about her six horrific years and her many brushes of death. She is seperated from her parents after living in their cellar for over a year. The Nazis order the men to one city and the women to another. Once she and her mother reach the town, she is shoved in a different direction. This story displays one teen-agers courage while she was living in Hell. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who, like me, love to read and learn about World War Two. Congratulations Gerda Weissmann Klein on the best book I have ever read!

Summary: An emotionally uplifting life story.
Review: This is one of the best books on the Holocaust period thus far. It is not a detached narrative of horrors but an intimate experience in the life of a particular family whose placid existence is shattered by forces they could not comprehend. In narrating her experiences in such a profoundly intimate way, Gerda Weissman made me cry when she cried and laugh when she laughed. Her story is a fitting testament to the unassailable endurance of family love and values. You finish this book in tears, but not from despair, but rather from the emotional uplifting that this remarkable woman provides with her life story.

Summary: I loved this book, it is very inspirational. Lisa Staton
Review: "All but MyLife" is an excellent book. Gerda Weissmann's story touches your heart, it shows you the courage and strength that a young girl had through some difficult circumstances in German prison camps. You come away feeling like you know Gerda Weissmann personally. It is if you struggled right along with her. This is one book that you will not want to put down. If I had a daughter I would want her to read this book. It teaches you about the importance of family, about courage, and about following your heart

Summary: A simply told, emotional story from a Holocaust survivor.
Review: Gerda tells this story with a simplicity that is the opposite of many Holocaust survival stories. Instead of giving us the gory and sensational details that (admit it) we are looking for in a book like this, she concentrates on the extreme emotion of the situation. The book shows, in a way, that it was harder for those left behind--survivors--than those who died at the hands of the Nazis. It does not detail the violence of the Holocaust, but instead is a story of one girl's reliance on strength, and a little bit of luck, to carry her through

Summary: An unforgettable story
Review: I have just finished reading All But My Life. I was deeply moved by Gerda's strength, but I have also come to admire the language she uses in her memoir. It's amazing that Klein has survived so much and can still retell her tale with such vivid detail. One of the things I enjoyed about her writing was the way she told the reader what would happen to a certain character in the future. For example, when her father is leaving , she writes, "We watched until the train was out of sight. I never saw my father again". Although some readers may be disappointed because they know what will happen, I think that this makes a much stronger impact. The reader knows what Gerda doesn't yet know, and it makes her struggle that much more unforgettable. I would strongly recommend this book to everyone, it's a story that needs to be heard.

Summary: Deeply Moving
Review: I picked up this book while visiting the Holocaust musuem in DC. I could not put this book down once I started reading it. What Gerda Weissmann Klein went through is amazing. I wonder if I could of been that strong. My heart broke for Gerda and the loss of her entire family. It makes me sick to know humans are able to do such terrible things to one another.

Summary: Horrifying, yet true
Review: Gerda Weissman Klein chronicles her experiences as a young Jewish girl in Poland subjected to Nazi atrocities and cruelty. ALL BUT MY LIFE was beautifully written and transports the reader to a world full of suffering, heartbreaking separation, loss, sadism, and, yes, hope, which must never be forgotten. Perhaps books like this should be required reading for high schools all over the country so that the horror caused by such a madman as Hitler will never be forgotten. Thank you, Mrs. Klein, for sharing your remarkable story.

Summary: A very well written book on the holocaust.
Review: I just finished this book. Amazing would not describe to you what I felt. Gerda went through so much, the death walk, how she survived that,is in itself a miracle. She lived with discrimination, just for being a Jew. I read this book and am brought to the understanding of how very fortunate I am to have never gone through something like this. What a life we all live, everyday with food in abundance and all the things we have. How so many people don't realize how lucky they have it!

However, it is even more than that, being sad for all the Jews who died, and the ones who lived with the painful memories the rest of their lives. It is such a learning experience. Our children need to read these books, to know not to treat anyone unkind and never never to think of ones self as better than any other.

Thank you Gerda for writing this book! What a blessing it was to me, to be able to read your experience. I am so horrified people had to endure these experiences. Nobody should ever have to go through those experiences.
