Summary: My Word.......
Review: I found the book very entertaining. It amazes me that there are so many negative individuals out there who simply can't reward someone for having an ingenious/creative idea. From reading some of these reviews I can see that random acts of kindness are not everyone's forte' (does it matter if you gave to a homeless person, to karyn or to a more worhtwhile cause) I can only speak for myself...but when I give (regardless of where) I do it from my heart. This women didn't set out to hurt anyone, she asked and she received...ummm, know didn't someone we all know and love (well at least me) tell us to do exactly that. You go girl....And hey, to everyone else...give it a rest on the the literary critique, it's a lite read, view it as such.

Summary: Worth sticking with
Review: I started with the same reaction many reviewers have reported when they started reading: the writing style is repetitve and shallow, Karyn is selfish and self-absorbed, why bother to continue with this book? But as she slowly comes to more self-awareness and maturity, the sentence structure seems to reflect this by becoming more complex, more subtle and ironic. I ended up being glad I finished it. Nice touch.

Mind you, I wouldn't have given her a penny (and I borrowed this book from a friend). Someone said this would be a great and hilarious book if it were fiction. Probably true, because the thought that this is a "real" inspiration for people makes me feel kind of itchy.

Summary: Addicts Beware
Review: I'm a shopaholic when it comes to books and shoes so I thought I would love reading this book about other shopaholics. Save Karyn is funny, but also frightening. Frightening because it shows the downside to shopping - yes, debt. But funny because it shows how a shopaholic tries to overcome it through a hilarious campaign. I like chick lit books, but I think they're far too long for what I like them for - easy reading. I must say this is one of the longer ones.

Summary: YAY!
Review: This book is just so much fun! I absolutely loved it. I can't stop telling people to read it. It is so funny and so well written. It's quite the comedy, but also offers some good lessons on money management. I can't wait for the movie!

Summary: Shopaholism is a REAL addiction!
Review: I love this book and highly recommend it to anyone who has struggled with or is struggling with credit card debt, excessive shopping, etc. What Karyn hits on is not just frivolous and carefree shopping, but real issues with spending money that many people encounter in their lives. The book is an eye-opener because it's really not that hard to accumulate debt. It's a vicious cycle that many people get stuck in and it's not all that different from other addictions in our society where compulsion and denial are involved. Karyn tells her story in a light hearted and entertaining way, but the lesson isn't lost. If you want some good laughs that leave you with a powerful lesson, "Save Karyn" is for you!

Summary: Read savekaryn.com
Review: Karyn is telling the truth. The truth of how a college educated, level headed young person in America can fall head over heels in debt over night. She worked hard at her job and excelled in her field, yet she outspent herself trying to live the life that society encourages. Her idea to go online to save herself from bankruptcy is fabulous. Karen should be congratulated for succeeding and paying off her bills, instead of giving up as so many people have before. I truly believe the book and movie deal were a surprise to Karyn and never her dream. She wanted out of the dead weight of debt and had the courage to try anything.
Her detractors should read her latest posting on the web site. As you should always be up to date on your interest whether it makes you angry or not. Karyn clearly states she is going to donate the $13,000 given to her, back to the community from her book or movie deal money. Not only did she get out of debt and positively change her life forever, now she will hand over a good deal of money to help others in need. Pay it forward. I advise all parents to read this book and explore the web site, www.savekaryn.com, with their teenagers. Teens excited for college and ready to move out, are encouraged to spend, spend, spend everywhere they go.
