Rating: Summary: Life changing Review: I first read this book at a difficult time of life. It restored my faith and love of God. Years later I had the chance to meet Dr. Ritchie. He was as genuine and sincere as his book. I have recommended this book to all of my friends. If by their fruits you will know them, decide for yourself. I am closer to God and Jesus Christ because of this book.
Rating: Summary: POWERFUL DESCRIPTION OF AN ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS CHRIST. Review: I found the book in 1982 and found it to be a powerful, facinating encounter of one man with Jesus Christ. If there is a God - he must be the way Ritchie described Him. I have lived in a religious environment all my life, and have reached out to God all my life. Ritchie's testimony comforted me greatly when I lost my wife suddenly in 1989.Here was a man who still lives today and who had met Him - in our times; it was not someone from another age thousands of years ago. Because the book helped me understand God's burning love for us, I have bought and given out over 75 copies of the book to others, and still do especially to those who had lost loved ones. This included my sister in Germany, where I found the book in a bookstore in Kassel, Germany - translated in German. I am now reading both. All my family has read it. And many to whom I gave the book, in turn passed it on or bought additional copies for others. I have also read Ritchie's second book "My Life Since Dying". The books are not just sitting on my book shelf: Periodically I read sections again to remind me of my purpose in life. "Return From Tomorrow" was very engagingly written (with the help of it's editor). The utterly fascinating story gradually overcame my usual pessimism and caution that I project when reading anyone's story of having an encounter with God. This story was definetely different and most believable.
Rating: Summary: One of the most important books I've ever read. Review: I have read this book many times, and it has changed how I live my life. Dr. Ritchie's account of his near death experience is amazing yet as credible an account as I've ever read. I have purchased many, many copies of this book to give to friends and relatives over the years. The people I've given this book to all have described the reading of it as a powerful spiritual experience -- even a few agnostics who've read it. I highly recommend this little book. You can read it through in a couple of hours, but you'll come back to it time and time again.
Rating: Summary: Life changing book Review: I read this book when it first came out and it changed my life. I saw how we can ask diifferent spirits to be with us according to our doing. I was able to then call in the spirits of love, peace, light and joy and ignore thsi spirits of hate, jealousy, fear and separation. I found out that the native people look at spirit this way also.
Rating: Summary: Will pass Review: I was thinking about taking a chance on this book when I read one of the reviews mentioning how the book talks about "hell" and I was immediately turned off. I don't believe in that age-old scare-tactic to keep people in line. I'm going to stick with my Sylvia Browne books. At least she admits there is no such place as "hell", and no God would ever send someone there even if there were such a place.
Rating: Summary: Return From Tomorrow Review: I've read this book three times. Probably one of the most influentual and spiritually motivating books I've read. In response, to "Christians Beware", don't let these types of mind Controllers keep you from pondering the splendor and reality of our existence. They would have you running scared from anything that didn't reinforce their narrow agenda. On the contrary, Christians may take great comfort in this book. Dr Ritchie humbly offers his story to the world. "Return From Tomorrow" is an account that may provide hope and peace for those pondering the nature of our existance. If there is an after life, and I believe there is, it must be every bit as real, purposeful, and substantive as our current existance. "Return From Tomorrow" is simply fascinating and beautiful.
Rating: Summary: A revelation Review: If you have ever wondered about what its like to die, read this book and understand. Dr Richie's account of his near death experience in 1943 is the most astounding I have ever read. His guide during this journey is his Lord and Saviour, Jesus. But that being of Light could be any of the great Avatars who have come to this planet to lead humanity out of the darkness. For a devout Christian, it would be Jesus, for a Hindu, Krisna, for a Muslim, Mohammad, for the Buddist, Budda. But regardless of who showed Dr. Richie the tapestry of the afterlife, the picture he paints is both disquieting and comforting. His explanation and experienced of being disembodied, and the scenes he is shown by his guide of where souls go who remain earthbound is harrowing, frightening, and indeed give us a picture of a "hell" of our own making. But as gripping as these scenes are, Dr. Richie offers the reader his overarching, overwhelming lasting rememberance from his journey into tomorrow. That that being who accompanies him - is so radient, so loving, so devastatingly beautiful, that he knows the words so often spoken since his passing are true: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me, Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me...."
We all will one day, face our own death, we cannot escape that experience. The account in this little miracle of a book will help you prepare for that day.
Rating: Summary: How how I love this book! Review: Oh how I love this book!I read this marvelous book over a decade ago. I have since re-read it several times, every year. When my life is too hectic and I need comfort, I have read it in just a few hours. I too have bought dozens of this as gifts for people; particularly for those who have lost loved ones to death. It's comfort sure beats the traditional flowers or planter. I always write my own testimony inside, that I believe Dr. Ritchie's account. I bear testimony that I belong to a Christian Church, that has always (over 170 years) taught doctrines that are very compatible to Dr. Richie's experience. It is the LDS Church, yes also known as the Mormons. The actual and correct name is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Do you want a longer track record? The Book of Mormon, which is an account of the people who inhabited the North American Continent (as early as 600 years before Christ to 400 years after) also, teaches the basic principles that Dr. Ritchie describes in his book. Other Christian churches have criticized our beliefs, much like some Christians who have stated their reviews here. I do NOT write this review to open a debate. Instead I only suggest that if you ever happen to see two clean-cut young men (dressed in white shirts and ties) talk to them. Notice if they are wearing black, name tags, indicating that they are Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Stop a moment and chat with these young people. Ask them about the doctrine, for which they have left their homes (mostly ages 19-21) to teach the world. I ask, what are the boys, you know (of that age) doing at this stage of their lives? Find out "what on earth" makes these young people so devoted to their cause. See for yourself how close the LDS doctrine is to the "Universal Truth" of Dr. Ritchie's account. You just may be interested in what they have to say. May God Bless! Sharon Anne
Rating: Summary: It changed my life...compelling and awe-inspiring Review: One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.
