Summary: finally getting close to the nature of our society
Review: Another fine example of a character who actually lived and breathed the values of present day society. I find it interesting that so many are quick to judge and label things that they can't accept(ie. our journey through the dark ages). We have so much to learn from serial killers. They are such role models. Most wonder how things of this nature could ever happen. I wonder why they don't every day given our conditioning.
Anyone downplaying this book needs only take a look in the mirror. We act as if it is so far apart from our "reality". Bundy was intelligent, sexy, manipulative, and not as much in denial as you probably are. Take a look at any magazine cover in your local borders or maybe flip on the telly and tell me I am wrong. We are living in the dark ages. This is a testimony of who we are as a collective entity. please read this and question what you have been told to think. He is not the monster, we are. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Summary: One of the better books on Bundy
Review: For those that are willing to explore the murderous rampage of one of America's worst killers, this book is a very good road map. It covers most of the ground, including Bundy's youth and his years as a student and volunteer before murder became his primary occupation. Journalists Michaud and Aynesworth also managed to convince Bundy to grant them a lengthy series of prison interviews. Bundy was still being prosecuted actively in the state of Florida at the time and he at first refused to discuss anything about the crimes themselves. The authors proposed that Bundy instead "speculate" about the person(s) who were responsible for the crimes.

Bundy took the bait, and the results litter the pages of the book. Bundy obviously enjoyed talking about murder and rape and his supposed objectivity doesn't hide his excitement. However, the mind of a sociopath is one that is governed by self-preservation, and Bundy would never give too much detail for fear of incriminating himself. Certain murders he refused to discuss at all. When Aynesworth tried to prompt Bundy to talk by pointing out inconsistencies or inaccuracies in his stories, Bundy grew angry and threatened to stop giving interviews. In the end, that's basically what he did; he stopped giving meaningful information even as he protested that he'd answered everything that the authors had asked of him.

This book provides a great deal of information about the life, crimes, and victims of an astonishingly successful serial killer. Even so, because the book was researched and written in the early 1980s, many details of Bundy's methods were still unknown and therefore are not included. Also, while Bundy's own words are initially very fascinating to read, they quickly become repetitive and finally evasive. These flaws are fairly small and it is hard to blame the authors for circumstances that were beyond their control, but nevertheless this book doesn't quite deliver what the reader is hoping for. Still, this book is well-written and thorough -- a better-than-average true crime book.

Summary: Very good facts, no fiction very scary and very true
Review: Fortunately I read thia book right before the movie came out, if you read it and then watch the movie you can tell that the movie very closely matches details in the book. Ted bundy has never really admitted to any of his crimes, in this book he talks about them but only the third person. The writers do a very tricky good job at getting him to talk about what a person would do to this person and to this person, by puting Ted far away from his crimes using context, they get Ted tot alk about certain details of his crime, things noone before has ever heard or know. They also speculate on what they were led to believe happened to some of the bodies after death. Ted's intelligence <sp> and swauveness is clearly shown, having held relationships with 2 women at the time of his crimes. It shows what he did before and what led to his killings. They show a motive and an extreme desire and madness in him, as you read you discover later when he is caught that he tries to use his IQ,knowledge of the Law <being a law student> and just plain old boldness and shrewdness to his advantage that later backfires and ends up begging for his life. Ted belived himself to be upper class, have nice things and wanted women and sex constantly, unfortunately his sexual desires are uncontrolled and frenzied and gross and without conscience for any of his victims. This book portrays him beatifully as a cold calus killer with severe disfuntion, addicted to women, chronic masterbation, you literlly can read his undoing as you go. I read the book in 2 days, i could not put it down.
Read the book and watch the movie, you'll be creeped out for life. Good thing he's dead now. This book puts you in bed with Ted Bundy.

Summary: Very thorough and scholarly, friends.
Review: Hell, Michaud and Aynesworth wrote it. That means a lot right there.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: I have been researching Ted bundy for over 10 years and must say that this is by far the most intimate and complete book out there regarding his persona! Stephen G. Michaud has done an excellent job in his interviews with Bundy, in which we get a glimpse at his mood swings and ideals. A must for research and collectors

Summary: the best book iv'e read about bundy
Review: i have read alot about ted bundy and this book definitely is the best [mainly because of ted's "speculations" about himself].

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book on Ted available
Review: I have read three of the six books on Bundy and this is by far the most outstanding. Second to it is The Riverman, followed by Stranger Beside Me. I enjoyed this book since we get a look in Bundys head-a journey more frightening than a King novel. It is disturbing, disgusting, and fascinating-it is a book that makes you feel dirty but you have to finish it all...

Summary: The best
Review: I think I've read every book written about Ted Bundy and I found this the best. The authors were brilliant in their handling of Ted and he told them information that he may have wanted to reveal anyway, but never had a way that was acceptable to him to do so. The big remaining question is why, now that this book somewhat answers what and how. I doubt that we will ever know more about that than we know now.

Summary: I think that.....
Review: I think that John Shea would be perfect playing Ted Bundy in a film. I think the physical similarities are striking.
