Summary: Not impressed
Review: After reading some of the reviews, I expected great things. While it was cute in places, it was not consistently humorous.

I have never read a book with as many typographical errors as this one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Read It!
Review: I had never heard of Laura Notaro until I read this book, now I am hooked on her archive articles on her website. Laura is a talented writer with a gift for seeing the funny side of things!
I read a chapter aloud to my friends at a party once and now they are all hooked! I hope she comes out with another book soon!!!

Summary: If you want to laugh, this is your book
Review: It's not often a book can make me laugh out loud, but this one hit the spot. I had a great time reading it, and found myself looking forward to reading the next story in it. The characters were great-- I loved Laurie's Nana--but I can't pick out a favorite episoide, well, maybe the hole in the underwear one. Too funny. This book would make a great sitcom! Read it, read it, read it, otherwise, you're totally missing out.

Summary: funny in places
Review: I thought the book would be laugh-out-loud, knee-slapping hilarity but it didn't set me rolling on the floor. It made me chuckle in spots but was not an across-the-board romp. Laurie is a funny woman with a keen eye for the stories she tells, but the humor was a little base and I tend to get weary of the "I'm fat and unemployed and misunderstood" female commentary. That said, the book was not by any means a total loss. Just don't prepare yourself for an abdomen aching from guffawing.

Summary: Please, please buy this book!
Review: Ignore the review from the reader in Andover MA, probably someone who has never touched alcohol and most likely drives home from work in order to use the bath room. Ignore that reviewer and listen to the rest of us and buy this book! Some stories has me laughing quietly on my sofa, while others had me in fits on the floor, waking the dead with my cackles! Laurie Notaro is a miracle! I just hope I do not have to wait long before the next one!

Summary: Non-stop laughs
Review: For such an obscure little book with an odd little name this was absolutely hilarious. The best part had to have been the candy apple incident. I had tears in my eyes. This book somewhat chronicles the writer's life and some of the more "unique" experiences she has had. Just the way she thought and the way the book was written was just too funny for words. I hope she has another one. Definitely buy it!

Summary: One laugh out line per chapter...GUARANTEED!
Review: This book is great. Laurie Notoro is awesome. She has a self deprecating sense of humor (e.g., when she talks about what it's like to be the "ugly friend"--priceless!) that makes her at once both hilarious and incredibly appealing. You either relate to her (I did) or even if you don't, at the very least, you've gotta sympathize with her daily life tragedies.

This book seems to be a collection of mini-essays or past columns she's written. There's no overarching story, so if you're craving a "story," then don't read this book. DO read this book, however, if you're craving light humor in small doses. The chapters are short, their topics engaging, and the writing hilarious. You can read the whole book in a day, or you can pick it up whenever and read a chapter or two, and then put it away again for a while. Either way works. The chapters are set up to be independent little stories so you won't feel like you've lost the "feel" of the book if you leave it for a while. Chances are, though, that you'll find the chapters so amusing that you'll come back before too long. Like my review summary states, there's at least one laugh out line per chapter...often times there'll be three or four. Some of her lines are so funny, I still smile whenever I think of them...which might exlain the stupid smile I currently have my face as I type this review :-) I gave this book four stars rather than five because some of the bathroom references did tend to wear a little thin after a while, but that may just be me. It's completely consistent with the rest of her low brow humor (which I loved). But read it and decide for yourself. With or without the bathroom humor, this book is still absolutely hilarious and definitely worth a read!

Summary: Hysterical
Review: This book is so funny it hurt to finish it! I have leant it to a friend, and find myself reading it over his shoulder because his laughter is distracting me from the book I am now trying to read! Buy it!

Summary: I'm going to read it again
Review: I just thought it was great. I read most of it in one night and then finished it the next day. I'm glad to see a woman's voice delivering some edgy, unexpectced humor for a change. Tell it like it is and give 'em what for. That's what I got from this book, anyway. Cool stuff.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a fun read
Review: For anyone who's a little tired of the rigors political correctness, this writer will take you down a path that's a refreshing change with its honest style and no-holds barred subject matter. My reading group loved it, and I've mailed several copies to friends. I laughed until I cried mutiple times, but take this warning: read in private, lest your peals of laughter make others think that there's more than one of you in your body.
