Summary: A very good book, with a few flaws
Review: This is a well researched, well written, book, and a very compelling read. I won't reiterate what the other reviewers have said, but would like to point out a couple of biases in the book.

By picking and choosing his subjects (a few out of thousands of possible candidates), as well as adding his own rhetorical slant, Sack turns the book into a story of Jewish redemption. Really, I think Zionists and Neonazis will come away with their own polar opposite reactons to this book no matter what, but this may affect the moderate reader (although I think the majority of it's readers come from either the far right or the far left).

I would recommend "A Terrible Revenge" over this book if you want an introduction to the Expulsion, because it is unbiased, and because it covers the whole expulsion, not just the actions in Poland. Also, "A Terrible Revenge" does a great job explaining the social situation after WWI. This I found most interesting because most history books start WWII at Hitler's rise, but really the Germans had legitimate claims all over central europe.

But keeping these things in mind, this book does add a great human touch and I highly recommend it.

Summary: A story of Revenge
Review: This is an interesting book of a topic that is not much discussed, mainly because it is not taught in American schools. The Topic is, what happened to many Germans after the war? Every one did not put down there guns and go home, some did not have a home to come back too? Others didn't have any relatives left to console them! Once they realized this they looked unto themselves and there was a fire inside many, many people. A fire that could not be put out. The only way was for the fire to be let out and let it burn the people who were mostly responsible, the Germans. Any Germans.

This book concentrates on Polish Jews who had that fire, that hate and they wanted to let it out. So, with the help of Stalin who very geniouly put mostly Jews in charge of Poland, especially the Office of State Security. An organization in charge of gathering all the Nazi and Nazi collaborators and put them on trial. The thing was though, that they blamed every German for their ills. So they gathered them, put them in a Prison and later, they started killing them. Just as the SS had.

The book is not a fast read and at times you have to force yourself to read the first couple of chapters. After that though the book becomes interesting. It seems to be very well researched with the author gathering his facts well and taking years to finish the book.

Some people may have a problem with the topic of the Jews doing the killing but it should be remembered that the same thing happened in Yoguslavia, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hungary after and during the last year of the war. In the end though, some of the Jews involved see there faults and escape Poland. Some make it and the las chapters are about them and what happened to them. Some should be brought to trial for there crimes but the statue of limitations has passed and they are now quite old or dead.

What this book should teach people is that Hate grows within you and it eats you up. If you do not have something or someone to help you see the right way, for the Jews it was the Torah and that saved them. For them, they realized that the Nazi were not dead, the spirit of the Nazi and the SS lived in them and until they got rid of it, they would never be really free. Free your soul from all evil thoughts and you will have freedom. If you are caged by idead or thoughts of hate, they eat you, until you are nothing.

Summary: Those darn Jews
Review: Those darn Jews! The germans kill about 6 million of them, including 1 million under the age of 12 years old and out of about 250,000 survivors, HUNDREDS of them forget everything they knew about sportsmanlike behavior. And those terrible Russians! The germans kill about 20 or maybe 30 or maybe 40 million of them and they're even more rude than the jews. I guess Mr. sack forgot who started the war.
