Rating: Summary: A beautiful Mexican-American story told by Villasenor... Review: What a privilege it was to be able to share the story of these incredible families. This is a tough story to read at times and yet it is truly beautiful the way these people kept their faith in their struggle in the United States. Often pushed aside like trash, the Mexicans in Rain of Gold showed that it took more than just macho in order to make it in the white man's world. Salvador Villasenor seems like a character out of fiction, and Lupe as well; their story matches any immigrant one I've read for the hardship and rough lifestyle they led. Read this book to find out what those people who have picked the cheap produce we eat every day have gone through to make it in this country.
Rating: Summary: Incredible book! Review: I first read this book in high school about 3 years ago and like most students I didn't like the idea of having to read such a huge book but it didn't take long before I was so into the book that I couldn't put it down. In fact I never seen a whole high school class so involved and excited about a book.

Rating: Summary: For those who still believe in that thing called love. Review: I guess it took a gun being pointed at my head to knock some sense into my brain. I was sick, in bed, not knowing what to do with my life. I stumbled onto Rain of Gold, and that has made all the difference in the world. The type of love described by Victor Villasenor was something I thought did not exist. But, it is so true, and it is all around us. If only we took the time to see and feel what Rain of Gold demonstrates this world would be a lot different After reading his book, I made my own journey to the little "ranchito" where I was born. I saw my grandmother for the first time since I was born, and instantly I came to the realization that everything Villasenor wrote was not only true, but very much possible. Rain of Gold is a life altering masterpiece
