Summary: A 20th Century Apostle
Review: "Rees Howells: Intercessor" is truly an amazing book. It demonstrates vividly to anyone who has any doubt, that it is possible to walk the path that Jesus walked (although not as perfectly as he did). When you read of the manner which Mr Howells completely abandoned his self for God, you will realize we had in our midst a true apostle of Christ; as much of an apostle as Peter, Paul, or John. Anyone who thinks, "I am a sinner and can never hope to achieve today what Christ and his followers did back then" should think again; Rees Howells' story is in many ways as amazing as many stories I've read in the Bible. A warning is; if you are in any manner loyal to the Roman Catholic faith, you may find several passages disturbing; otherwise, prepare to be astonished, amazed, and delighted to know about someone you will wish you already knew of long ago! There is no doubt that Rees Howells is sitting in a very special place in heaven right now; a place reserved for Christ's most dedicated and spiritual followers. Enjoy!

Summary: Get closer to God
Review: A great book to help you learn how to pray. This book will not only challenge you to die to pride, flesh, selfish ambition, but even to self. This book will show you how to allow the Holy Spirit to help you. Perfect for anyone bold enough to draw cloer to God.

Summary: One of the most INSPIRING books I have ever read.
Review: I ask the LORD to lead me closer to HIM and then found this book. I began to read like a starving man and found specific answers and renewed strength. I was ex-rayed and thoroughly examined by the HOLY SPIRIT.

This book is about other hungry believers who discovered the secrets of Dwelling in His Presence. They entered soul travail, were crucified with Christ and resurrected as transformed disciples. Signs and Wonders followed their lives and confirmed the word of their testimony.

This book is not theory, but history and evidence of GOD'S faithfulness.

PS ... I am re-reading this book...even more slowly than before.

Summary: A man truly possessed by God
Review: I have read this book for the second time - laughing on many occassions and weaping on still many more. Rees Howells' intimate (and normal) communication with God in the person of the indwelling Holy Spirit broke my heart (again, the second reading) with the recognition of how "watered down" and powerless Christianity seems today in America and in my own life. If you desire to see what a life of faith and fellowship with God can look like - this is the book. It has deepened my spiritual resolve to cooperate with God to break "self" that His life can be manifest in this vessel.

Summary: Do you desire to be one of God's Generals? Read this:
Review: If you desire to be a powerful man or woman of God, or you simply wish to know Him, this is a must read book. Next to the Bible, this has been the most life changing book for me. You see God's ways detailed in a mans life, (a man who just recently went on to Heaven) and it will open up much knowledge to you on how to be an intercessor, and it will be a great aid for the Holy Spirit to pull you through giving up your will. And giving up your will to God is a prerequisite to be a General of God.

Summary: A Truly Life Changing Book
Review: If you only read four books in addition to the Bible as a Christian, this should be one of them. I have met more people that this book has had a life-changing impact upon than any other. (A close #2 is With Christ In The School Of Prayer by Andrew Murray).

Rees Howells is an example of a person who laid down his life for others, labored in prayer and, in doing so, touched the heart of God. His life was a picture of what 1 John 3:16-24 describes.

Summary: This is a book every called intercessor should read.
Review: If your soul desires to know the one true and living God, REES HOWELLS INTERCESSOR will introduce you to him. There are mysteries in the Holy Scriptures that only the Spirit of God can reveal. Rees Howells' life is an accounting of His divine lessons in this intercessor's life. This book will bring to life new meaning to 1John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." I challenge you to this kind of faithful life. I am into my third or fourth reading of this book...over the past 8 years. This book reveals a true and personal God who is willing to take any one of us willing to walk His walk and talk His talk. Read this book! Our God is an AWESOME God! Sheri Chase

Summary: Learning when to stand
Review: It is hard when you know the life that God has called you to when you are called to be an intercessor. In this book you learn that it is not for those who do not have faith. Faith that God will lead you to places that you do not expect and you need to learn to hear the voice of God. This book shows how the life of an intercessor is very serious work. I thought that I had reached all that I could as an intercessor until I read this book and it then changed my life.

Summary: Theological Problems with this Book
Review: It looks like I am the black sheep among the reviewers here - I just ask you to consider my comments seriously before you hit the "no" button below my review.

I was impressed by Reese Howell's devotion to God and this book is not written, as is the case with so many other Christian biographies, to present a perfect picture of the man; he has his personal battles as all do. For this I commend his biographer.

The contentious issue is the point of departure from Christian orthodoxy in his method of intercession. It was not enough for him to pray for the one on whose behalf he is interceding but to IDENTIFY with that person in life behaviour. Thus while interceding for a vagrant he would walk in public without his hat on (a great departure from custom at that time) and let his hair grow long, thereby assuming the the appearance and life of the one interceded for. He appeared to think this was a neccessary principle of intercession based upon some of the examples of the prophets in the OT.

Suffice it to say this borders on heresy. Reese Howells expresses his fear in the book that God might some day call him to intercede naked for someone (presumably a person lacking clothing) as Isaiah was called to do cf. Isaiah chp. 20. Isaiah was a sign for what would happen to Egypt and Ethiopia if they didn't repent - he was not at that time interceding for unclothed Egypians. Reese Howells misunderstood the message of scripture and practiced an false doctrine.

If you are to read this book I merely here offer a caution. There is good to be found in it but it is ore mixed with rock.

Summary: A Truly Life Changing Book
Review: My Pastor lent me a copy of this book and it truly ministered to me in a powerful way. When I started reading it I could not put it down. About that time I had to travel and it was my companion on the plane. The events in the life of Rees Howell was an inspiration to me as it caused me to trust in the power of almighty God accessed in intercession.
The copy was not my own, that is why I am getting one now.
Blessed reading.
