Summary: Men need this too
Review: I am married to a woman who has been bulimic since she was a teenager. We have been through everything and have read everything about this issue. I have often felt left out of the literature on this topic because I am a man.

I found this book very helpful to men who love women who are dealing with this issue. I felt included, validated and encouraged by this author's words.

My wife and I agree, this book is special because it is so raw and honest. I hope many people find this book as helpful as we did.

Summary: Inspires to Action
Review: I am what I would consider a conossieur of books on eating disorders and body image, more specifically eating disorders memoirs. Most of these books engage me with the reader's experiences, but ultimately leave me feeling a little empty, because no hope is offered as a conclusion. Ms Weiner's book is a breath of fresh air...not only does she engage you with her relatable experiences, but at the end she offers you hope and ACTION. Finally, it's an eating disorder memoir that actually leaves me inspired instead of depressed, ready to take action instead of letdown.

Jessica describes her life and her struggles with self-image in an engaging, relatable way. I don't believe that her book "smacks of self promotion." If you had influenced thousands upon thousands of young women, you'd be feeling pretty good about yourself too. I speak from experience when I say that helping others is a way to truly help yourself, and Jessica is a wonderful testimonial to that.

I plan on buying copies of this book for all of the women in my life. Thank you to the author for who you are and for what you inspire us all to do.

Summary: The Ideal Gift for Your Female Friends
Review: I couldn't put it down! And once I read the final page, I was sorry it was over. The author poetically chronicles her battle with low self-esteem, her relationships, eating issues and more-- issues we all encounter as we navigate the path from teen years to adulthood. This book makes you feel like you are not alone. As one friend put it, "After reading this book, I feel inspired to take action in making my life better."

Summary: unrealistic portrayal of an eating disorder
Review: I felt this book was an unrealistic portrayal of the life of a teenage girl with an eating disorder. This book does not properly address the issue facing many teenage women today. I fell reading this book was a waste of my time.

Summary: thank you
Review: i find it funny that age is mentioned in a book review.
i meet 15 year olds that have ALOT to offer the world, its unfortunate that society feels age=knowledge. i disagree.
jessicas book is full of wisdom way beyond age. its written with integrity and intention. i felt her mission in each paragraph, and so will you.
its time to talk about what is going on, not hide it. its time to let go of how old we should be in order to KNOW anything.
jessica is a pioneer in CHANGE....
and gives the reader action steps...and encourage actionism..
to begin one person at a time.
thank you jessica..and for all the women who have read it and are living in action!

Summary: She Speaks For US!
Review: I got this book because my friend heard Jessica speak on her campus last week. She has been struggling with eating disorders since we were in high school. I read the book in one night (couldn't put it down) This book is for everyone and anyone who knows someone who is hurting themselves with this disease. I finally feel empowered to help my friend by helping myself be a better friend first. NO ONE SPEAKS TO COLLEGE WOMEN LIKE THIS!!

Spread the word!

Summary: A Mother In Need
Review: I have spent lots of money on books and tapes that claim they have the answers to this issue.
This is the first book that comes close to helping our family in a realistic and uplifting way.
My daughter has struggled for years and we just didn't know what to do anymore and then she gave us this book to read and it opened all kinds of dialogue. WE are grateful for this book and will definitly pass it on to our friends and family.
The author is real, dynamic and inspiring. Just what we needed.

Summary: A Bright Role Model for Others
Review: I learned of this book through a friend and I imagine that is how most of us will learn about Jessica Weiner's work - through word of mouth. When you read this book you want to immediately pass it on to every woman you know. She is wise beyond her years and her book is very 'readable'. I finished it in a few hours. It lifted my spirits and now has found it's way to my daughter's bookshelf. For any woman wondering why they didn't feel satiated with the life they had and why they felt they had to starve away their bodies to fit in - Jessica does a good job of breaking it down for you.

Summary: Inspiration
Review: I received this book as a gift and have throughly enjoyed reading it. I particularly liked the take action feeling of the last few chapters. I felt empowered and inspired to make a change in my life.

Summary: A GIFT TO MY DAUGHTERS
Review: I saw this young woman on television recently and rushed out to by her book - not necessarily because I was worried my daughters were struggling with an eating disorder but because I wanted them exposed to such a wonderful role model. As I suspected both of my girls (19 and 22) LOVED the book and related to Jessica immediately.

This book opens up a greater dialogue between familes about body image, weight obession, and the societal view on girls. It inspires you to take action every day in what you can. It made my daughters feel connected and hopeful that they too can touch the world.

Anyone can relate to this book because it is about struggle, journey and triumph. In big and small ways we all have experienced the same thing. I can't wait for her next book!
