Summary: Warm, Enlightening and Informative
Review: A Very Hungry Girl by Jessica Weiner shares with us all the trials and tribulations of growing up and wanting to be "in." The book shows how we are shaped emotionally by outside influences (mainly peers). It is my story and it is your story. Read it with a friend, read it to a friend or read it by yourself. It will be a gift you appreciate for a long time.

Join others as they share their stories and their journies. See that we are not alone in what we think and feel.

And finally learn some common sense tips on how to navigate your way through life's twists and turns.

I recommend this book to anyone between the ages of 13 and .....

Summary: WRITE A REAL REVIEW
Review: As a long time user of Amazon.com and the review system it has in place, I am offended - Amazon - that you allow such pointless, mean spirited words to be relayed on this site.

I came here to purchase a copy of "A Very Hungry Girl" after hearing the author speak at my daughter's school. I found her presentation to be fresh and her connection to my daughter and her classmates undeniable. I happened to notice that there is a recent posting lambasting the author and what the writer believes are her motivations.

Who cares?

The reviewer's jealousy and nastiness is apparent from word one and it makes me wonder what THEIR motivations are.
It is so easy to say hurtful things anonymously. Next time read the book or find another way to post your own diatribe. You cannot poison what is powerful work!!

Summary: VERY insightful!
Review: As a mother of a daughter struggling with an eating disorder, I found this book very parent-friendly and informative. It is written in a colorful language of experience that helps those of us looking for the answers and ways to help our children.

I would definitely recommend it!

Summary: THIS BOOK IS A WELCOME CHANGE
Review: As an avid reader of self help books, I was delighted to read this one about body image and the deeper emotional hunger that many young women face today. The author who is close to my age wrote a real page turner by using every day language and creative detail to illustrate some real spiritual lessons. For those of you who find self help books to 'new agey' then check this one out.

I found the personal stories very validating that we are not alone and that there are 'actions' we can take every day to change our lives. The author lays out a plan that seemed reasonable and not overhyped. I felt in many chapters that she was speaking directly to me and that is a welcome change from the books I have read in the past!

Summary: Bravo!
Review: Bravo! Anyone and everyone can benefit from this remarkable and gutsy book. I have a feeling we are going to be hearing a lot more from Jessica Weiner in the future.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Five Star Propaganda
Review: From Jessica Weiner's Newsletter:

"1. I want the book to be of service to those who need it (that is why I wrote it)
2. I want to be on Oprah!
3. I want the book to be a best seller

You can help me with all three of these things!!

I encourage you to log onto amazon and write a review of the book. Also click on the star rating system and cast your vote. All of this helps in moving me up the ranks to a best seller status. We have to do it the good ol' fashioned grass roots way - As Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
-Jessica Weiner

I knew most of the people talked about in this book from high school and 90% of what the author says about some of them is untrue, in fact the only thing about me that is true is enough to make sure that my identity was not protected from her defamation of character.

I suspect the book was really written for reasons number 2 and 3 on her list. She slanders people in her book just because she was jealous of their size in high school it seems. I had considered this person a friend and I cannot fathom why she would write lies about people in order to advance her own career. It is wrong to write a book and claim that someone had an eating disorder and other family, sexual and emotional problems when you know full well that they are lies. It seems that in her efforts to help others she gave no care to those she ran over in her rush to the bookshelves.

Summary: Jessica is a great person and writer!
Review: I am a fan and friend of Jessica Weiner and I thought her book was very heartfelt and she knew how to let people reading the importance of the topics. Having suffered through body image issues herself, Jessica is the perfect person to learn from!

Summary: GET OVER IT - SHE IS THE REAL DEAL!
Review: I am a new 'convert' to the world of Jessica Weiner. And convert I am! This one woman has changed the lives of several women I know. And I have read through many of the reviews and postings on her book and most people get it - some of you don't. She isn't being self promoting. She is being honest about her journey. She inspires just by telling her story. Every author out there writing self help books is self promoting to a degree beacuse they want you to read their books - HELLO. All I have to say is - if you have ever wondered if you had more to give to the world but didn't know how - read this book. If your friend constantly diets and you don't know what to say to her - read this book. If you want to get insight into how to build a career out of things you love to do - read this book. And finally if you just want to meet a fabulous young woman who truly DOES have people's best interests at heart - then READ THIS BOOK!
