Rating: Summary: Excellent way of stating life... Review: I thought that this was the greatest book. It tells about how hard life is, being brought up Christian, and not believing in it. I really have to agree with Marilyn on a lot of tpoics he covered. I hope he writes another book!!
Rating: Summary: A must for all Marilyn Manson fans. Review: As a long time fan of Marilyn Manson, I was not disappointed in this book. It showed what a truely intellegent and talented person Mr. Manson is. I finished reading this book the same night i bought it, and will read it many times over. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning the truth about Marilyn Manson.
Rating: Summary: The most descriptive book I have ever read. Review: I think Marilyn Manson's biography is a great book. My favorite chapter is the first one about his childhood. The book in all is very descriptive in every way, and it says alot about the way he felt when he was a child, all the way to how he deals with problems today. As well as just writing, it includes pictures and other interesting articles like prints of flyers handed out in his concerts in his latest tour. All I can say is that The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell is the kind of book you can't stop reading once you get your hands on it. It's way too interesting.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful read !!! Review: This book was fantastic !!! I read it in one day and it brought forth a wide range of emotions...laughter, tears and have a new found respect for Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson). He is very well spoken and I think that people who do not know him or what he stands for, will if they just give this one a read !!!
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: Most people do not understand the real Marilyn Manson. From reading this book, it is discovered very fast that he is a happy and caring person, and a humanist by all standards, probably even more so that the right wing extremists that are quicker to judge him than lighting a match. Deep down from his inner most emotions, Manson (Brian Warner) tells us of his struggles as a young man, which actually gave him the will power and vengence to make a name for himself and become a model citizen for this country, young and old. I strongly recommend this, and maybe even buy a couple copies because it is so good.
Rating: Summary: End the lies and confusion of Marilyn Manson Review: Ever since people reconized Marilyn Manson, people have created many lies and confusion about Marilyn Manson (a.k.a. Brian Warner). This book tells, from the man's own point of view, about his life as a child and what he has become to be. Brian Warner went to a Christian school as a child. He always tried to fit in, but the kids always rejected him. He tells about the life he had as a child. After working in the band for a while, he started to become noticed. When he came out with "Anti-Christ Superstar" in 1996, that is when most of the lies and confusion started. Many rumors about him started, which were untrue. If you are a Manson fan or not, you should read this book. It will tell you about what he is, and most importantly, what he isn't.
Rating: Summary: Anti- People, you've gone Too Far..... Review: This book is definitive proof that the Hypocrisy of our Society, "teachers" and religious leaders (major and minor) is scarring humanity. Fundamentalists hate Marylin Manson....well, They Created him. I have struggled to understand the Warped view of religion that I have seen, throughout my life...leading me to read voraciously in areas of Spirituality, Anthropology, etc.--and I have always been fascinated with Musicians. Marylin Manson has proven, conclusively, that the "morals" we are taught are not remotely Humanitarian in nature. Society is based on how we present ourselves to others....not how we Truly are, or believe. This book shows the Obsessive, Demented way in which we are instructed to live our lives....leading to Repression, Psychosis and all manner of weirdness. Marylin Manson simply tells it like it really IS, instead-of lying abuot the Reality of how messed-up our Culture has become. He does not paint a pretty picture, with white picket fences...he informs you what goes-on in the basement, behind closed doors. This man sees that few people are raising their children in a manner that is conducive to creating intelligent, enlightenend human beings.... So, he is giving the confused masses a forum to vent their frustration. I love Anthropology and attended the Louisville, Ky concert that the locals fought against, radically....until the camera crews left the streets. Thousands of "religious" people shouted that this man would kill us, or turn us into satanists....but, not ONE person waited to see if we survived. I guess the camera crews didn't stay long-enough..... This book may inspire you to study Psychology and pursue Positive Methods of raising children and teaching children in schools, religious groups, etc. Fanatical adherence to Dogma can create a monster.... You hate in others, what you despise in yourself---Food for thought.
Rating: Summary: Manson Review: I dont read at all but I read this book and it is one of the best I have ever read and after reading it I wanted to read it again....Because Manson is the only person who makes scense anymore....Check this one out
Rating: Summary: Brian Warner to Marilyn Manson Review: I'm going to keep this short. First of all, everyone "inside" the music biz knows Manson, Brian Warner, is an "act". He tried for years to get his conventional rock band signed to a major label, with no success. He adopted the satanic persona to get a record deal.
His "stage philosophy" is a teenager's poor understanding of the works of Frederick Nietzsche.
Nietzsche, however confused he was, did not approve of using drugs or drunkeness, and I don't think he would approve of Manson. During his lifetime Nietzsche wrote how amused he was that so many people whose philosophy he did not approve of, never-the-less thought they found approval for themselves or their cause in his writings.
The real value of this book is that it may help parents struggling with an ODD child/teen to understand what is going on. What you will learn is that it is usually, though not always, the parents fault for ODD (not a chemical imbalance), and ODD in children and teens is based in rank parental hypocrisy, expecially when the hypocrisy is tied in with shallow religion.
When parents mess up their kids in this way, you give them over to the dark side.
This book should be required reading for all people who have children in this toxic Western culture. Should make a wonderful baby shower gift.
Rating: Summary: Rage Against Mechanical People Review: For anyone who's ever thought Marilyn Manson was nothing more than an attention-grabbing Satanic reverend (title bestowed by the now-dead Anton LaVey who was founder of the First Church of Satan) dipsh*t whose favourite pastime is self-administratd fellatio and badly in need of an exorcism, well this book isn't going to change a thing 'cos the same people just going to carefully copy out the damning extracts into the Black Book. Then again just as you can't trust the devil to damn himself, you can't trust Marilyn Manson to do much else than explain and defend himself and his art. Being a former journalist, you know Marilyn Manson can't go that wrong, though he elisted the help of a certain not-so-ghost writer Neil Strauss (I imagine he did the transcript of rambling). What comes across as being somewhat surprising to a former non-fan to me is that this shock-rocker does stand for something. Behind the questionable stage antics (caging people, that rumour about killing chickens) he actually does have an idea of what concept or what narrative strand of statement about herd mentality, pretence, repression or prejudice he wants to unleash upon the public. Provocative yes, but that's the way to poke people in the ribs (and remove a rib haha). Music is apparantly just a vehicle to sound the alarm. Coming from that, you can hardly believe that the guy does make pretty good music, which he does. I got repetitive neck sprain from reading this two nights in a row, which should give Christians (just the prejudiced ones) another thing to jot down in the Black Book of MM's sins.
