Summary: A look into the world of the All American Antichrist
Review: The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, Marilyn Manson's tell-all autobiography, is 288 pages of well written, incredibly intriguing, and none the less, contraversial brilliance. It provides a window to look through to see the childhood and current life of America's latest Antichrist. Each word draws you in more and more like some sort of morbid faerie-tale. But to the avid fan however, it does not tell you much more than what you may already know. (Aside from Manson as a kid, urinating on Santa Claus) But even the know it all fans can enjoy The Long Hard Road as Manson speaks his mind (more indepth than in ANY interview) about the Christian protestors, his family, and his band. The book's highlights are the phony affadavits, the rumors page (finally, we can know for sure than Manson WAS NOT Paul on "The Wonder Years"!!!) And of couse, Manson's detailed, and seemingly endless chapter that talks about his first acid trip. All in All its a VERY good book. I give it four stars. It loses one star because I believed that it should have contained more of his inner thougths and plans. Perhaps so we can better understand this misunderstood of creatures. And in closing of his book he stated (beautifully) "I can already see that America, nothing Records, our friends, and the media, have all percieved this to be the height of our career. Unfortunatley for them, it's just the beginning."

Summary: Surprising more than shocking, Manson speaks out
Review: Marilyn Manson's music has always been hit-or-miss with me. Either I love it or I hate it. His public persona has been scrawled across every controversial medium available, and now finally the icon himself speaks out. His bio was extremely well written, and very amusing at points (especially his "Rules"). I would be curious to know where Manson leaves off and Strauss takes over, but regardless, it is a book that will make you squirm at points, laugh at points, and (more importantly in Manson's mind, I think) stop and ponder his own point of view. This book is not an attempt to convert the reader to Manson's lifestyle or beliefs, but to present it as it is -- this is what made Manson what he is today, period. If you have ever been curious about the "shock-rocker with the rubber jock", this is an excellent introduction to a surprisingly well-read and thoughtful individual who has chosen his path with few regrets, and also as a strange homage to family and childhood. Recommended. Don't let your own preconceptions of Manson turn you away.

Summary: Marilyn Manson is amazingly honest.
Review: This book is amazing for it's brutal honesty. You read the first chapter and as you get into it you notice that Marilyn Manson is not a fake, because, in this book, he writes things that no-one in the world would want to lie about. He also does it with literary style, which really shows his honesty. The only chapter which slides away from this honesty is "We're Off To See The Wizard" which was a very well-written chapter anyways, so that criticism really doesn't count. Marilyn Manson wrote a fabulous book.

Summary: I had to force myself to put the book down.
Review: The book was excellent and I think a movie should be made based on it. I had to force myself to put the book down. It doesn't matter if your a person who listens to rap or rock I'll bet you'll still like it.
