Summary: Its the best book i've read
Review: This book is an eye opener to all people, fans or not. This book gives you a compelling look into Brian's younger life, from shooting rabbits and playing with his cousin to his grandfathers basement and getting crabs. This book goes highly recommended to whoever would like to read it. I have read it four times and it still fasinates me. This is a book everyone should own.

Summary: The Reflecting Book
Review: IT WAS SO INTERSTING TO READ ! YOU LEARN ALL ABOUT MARILYN MANSON'S LIFE. THERE ARE LOTS OF DETAILS AND MANY ANECDOTES. THIS IS A SUBLIME BOOK I RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY (FANS OF MANSON OR PEOPLE WHO DON'T REALLY LIKE OR UNDERSTAND HIM). IT'S THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ (I'VE DEVOURED IT IN JUST ONE DAY DURING ALL THE AFTERNOON AND NIGHT AND I'M GONNA READ IT A SECOND TIME ! ). BUY THIS BOOK OR YOU'RE MAD !

Summary: Who would have thought manson could be funny?
Review: I highly recommend that you dont read this if you dont have a strong stomach. Once you get past the lengthy (extensive) details of Mansons sex life, there is a solid, likeable and involving story that only Manson could write. Dry, sardonic humour stains every page, and although it is in intentional bad taste, you cant help but like several of the characters involved. If your a satanist, theres a chapter or two on Anton Lavey and how Manson became a reverend (? ). The highlight of this book for me, however, is how it is physically put together. Anatomy sketches and cross sections mark each page, the chapters are divided into cycles like mansons Antichrist superstar, and small pictures of the people involved are included on the sides. Simply looking at the pictures proves fascinating. If you like anything anti-mainstream, then this book is worth it, if only for the classic one liners.

Summary: Everything you wanted to know -- and more...
Review: This book should have been a bigger best seller than it was. It has all the elements of the hottest fictional books going -- and it claims to be reality! You see the sexual weirdnesses of Manson's grandfather, the war damage of his father, and his mother's odd rat saving techniques. This is definitely not the typical family next door. From there we move on to ever sicker things as the band takes shape and sex and all kinds of drugs take center stage most nights. But through all the sensationalistic features, there also runs the portrait of an American superstar. Someone most of "middle America" loves to hate. Manson takes no pains to cover the warts on his personality. Nor does he "airbrush" over the personality quirks and flaws of his friends and bandmates. Although, in some cases, it becomes abundantly clear that the book is unfair in it's portrayal of some people because Manson doesn't bother to hide his hatred and contempt for them at all. That biased view is typical of any memoir, though, and shouldn't put you off of reading the book.

This book does serve to tell you what Manson is about and what he thinks -- his ideology comes through clearly. (to summarize grossly -- think for yourself and be an individual) It also gives some insight into the minds of the Christian Right and serves up a slice of it's battle against popular music. But most of all this book is a chronicle of one man's growth and transformation -- one which may not be complete, but is still fascinating to watch unfold. "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" makes Manson something the media has managed to hide from us all -- a human being.

Though in the end, we are left asking...how much of this is true? I would hazard a guess that most of it is true. Noone portrayed in the book has had a problem with what was said (excepting the former guitarist who is not portrayed in a pleasant light -- probably mostly unjustly so). I would also guess that there are some untruths in the book. Some stories sound a little too strange. But, let's not forget that this is a man who plays roles for the public; bursting onto the scene as the Antichrist and morphing into a futuristic, yet retro, "Mechanical Animal" for the masses.

Overall, I have to give the book a high rating for it's ability to entertain. Whether it's gospel truth or not, this book delivers more fun reading than any cheesy, sexy, thrilling bestselling novel can. Whether or not you like or care about Marilyn Manson as a man or as a band, you will be horrified, repulsed and yet drawn to the story as it unfolds. It's the rubbernecking effect in action! This is a must read for anyone who studies pop culture or loves modern music. Get it and be scared, saddened, amazed and educated!

Summary: Interesting, but real?
Review: Brian Warner a.k.a. Marilyn Manson does a masterful job of revealing his life--or does he? I can say that this book certainly seems to explain a lot about the man America loves to hate, but I'm not so sure that it is completely real. I am a fan of Marilyn Manson, but I couldn't help but feel that this was just another attempt to increase the "sensational" aura around him. Credible or not, it's an extremely exciting read.

Summary: It was worth the trip to the store and the money.
Review: I bought this book 2 days ago and I am already finished reading it and, I have to say that I was very inpressed on how well the book was written. It tells about Marilyn ( a.k.a. Brian )growing up as a kid in Canton Ohio. It tells of his hellish relationships from his family members to his band members. It takes you on a journey from his early child hood to his days with Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids, to his ever so popular current persona. I thought this book was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about Marilyn and his thoughts. There is a wealth of information that shocks you to the core and leaves you wanting more!

Summary: Realistic and understanding
Review: I really liked this book. Marilyn Manson has a certain edge to him. I can understand his anti-Christian views and agree with a lot, but not all, of his beliefs. This book helps you understand what he is all about and especially why he became the "Anti-Christ." And don't take anti-Christ like a typical Christian and avoid him at all costs. Because if you do then you won't even understand what you are trying to avoid. He is a human being still.

Summary: I'm not such a great fan of his music, but I liked his book
Review: I don't read that many books, (I read too many mangas and comics...), but I just one day decided to read this book. I only owned 2 of his cds (Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals) and I didn't listen to them that much, but I just thought I'd read the book simply out of curiosity. Once I started reading, I was kinda disgusted by the first chapter but it got me interested in this guy's, some-what messed up, life. I acctually just finished reading the book a few days ago and I liked it all the way through. You don't have to be a big M.Manson fan to read the book...just be somewhat curious about it and give it a try. I did and ended up really liking this book.
