Summary: Fantastic Book
Review: Simply, could'nt put it down. Was reading deliberately so it would last longer. Can't wait for her next book.

Summary: So damn boring
Review: This writer seems to be infatuated with herself. She's very insecure; in that, she constantly feels like everyone's attracted to her. a very dumb book to say the least.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A must read for Iranian/Americans and American/Iranian
Review: An excellent book that brings back a lot of the "old" memories and several of the issues that the Iraninans in this country are dealing with. This well written book presents much detail that one tends to forget but are essential part of our lives that define our identity. Congratulations to an author who bravely brings up the issues that some of us would like not to talk about.

The author could have been more fair about Iranian women. I do not think what she reflects is the reality of life for much of the Iranian women. Although what is stated is true for many women in Iran, but there are also many other with much more ambition in life.

Summary: Excellent, Fantastic Journey, Joy of living and adjusting
Review: This is a delightful collection of Tara's memories, such a amusing book. This is an inspirational treasure for all "Young Iranian" who left the old country during the revolution.

This is a book for all those eager to accept challenge of life and to profit from the wonder of love and family.

I was so touched with this book and I was not able to stop reading it until it was over.

Beautifully done, you made me believe on taking risk. For those of us who can not go back, this book is a "Simulation Journey to Iran".

Thanks, Mehdi Naficy Chicago, IL.

Summary: Praise for Tara Bahrampour's TO SEE AND SEE AGAIN:
Review: "A memoir becomes rich indeed when it not only leads us through a life but also enhances our understanding of the cultural, political and social character of the world influencing that life. To our benefit, TO SEE AND SEE AGAIN does this with elegance." -- Susanne Pari, THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

"Bahrampour's memoir is magical and moving; you can almost taste the sweetfigs and smell the rich spices and see the magnificent mountains of the land she still loves." -- Susie Linfield, L.A. TIMES

"A profound reflection on the immigrant journey, TO SEE AND SEE AGAIN is also a veiled and subtle defense of a place and a people that Americans have vilified for so long . . . Bahrampour writes with great insight of what the revolution has done to her country, but also of what it has done for it." -- Geraldine Brooks, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

"A spry, well-written memoir." -- Nina Mehta, NEWSDAY

"A fascinating and beautifully-written memoir . . . TO SEE AND SEE AGAIN is a meditation upon the sometimes irresistible pull of family and the sometimes unbridgeable chasm between cultures, and finally an eloquent testimony to the resiliency and decency of a people who, in American memory, are more often associated with unpleasant memories of hostages and religious repression." -- Bill Marvel, THE AMERICAN WAY

"A delightful memoir that reads like a cross-cultural novel of manners . . . We are richer for having read her story." -- Claudia Pearce, SAN DIEGO UNION TRIBUNE

"A complex new memoir about growing up in two very different cultures . . . Bahrampour writes with candor and compassion. Her jewel-like vignettes illuminate the coming of age of both a girl and a revolution." -- Barbara Lloyd McMichael, THE SEATTLE TIMES

"Bahrampour's journey to integrate the disparate and often conflicting parts of her self is beautifully rendered." -- Alyssa Gabbay, PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE

Summary: Sincere, true, and "Bi Taarof"
Review: This book is undoubtedly one of the best "Immigrant Stories" ever written. As a person who has spent enough time in Iran during the revolution, the war, and beyond, I can totaly apreciate what Ms. Bahrampour has done. She shows that unlike what many expats who live in the safety of home may want to believe, life in Iran, under all circumstances, continues. It is not that people over in Iran have nothing to do, and they are waiting for good LA Iranians to come and rescue them! For an American reader, this book is a wonderful insight to the reality of Iran, past and present. Probably the only weaknesses are a little bend toward the market demand (understandable in the current book publishing system), and constant talk of women pushing you to marry. As long as I know, women in Iran do have some other things to do than just wear make up and talk about marriage. Still, a great book. Way to go Taraneh Khanoum, Damet Garm!

Summary: well written,emotional,and oftensincere.
Review: Tara takes the reader through waves of emotional changes particular to immigrants.first there is no place like home and then the acceptance and finally:we are here and they are there!abook which began so purely emotional becomes suitable for the western market.pity!

Summary: emotional rollercoaster. wow! must read.
Review: my congradulations to taraneh bahrampour. i left iran at 16 and always wanted to write a book and let people know what real iran was all about and i can relax now because taraneh has done it. if you are in anyways some part iranian or if you would enjoy great storytelling you owe it to yourself to read this book. i would like to thank the author for writing this book. i look forward to your future books. thanks again.

Summary: A fascinating story
Review: Bahrampour has used the details of her life in America and Iran to craft a fascinating and highly readable examination of life at the boundary between two profoundly different cultures. A splendid job for the most part. My only objection is that she seems to be trying to downplay the harshness and extremism of Iran's Islamist regime; perhaps she believes that Iran has been so maligned in America since the hostage crisis that criticizing it now would be piling on.
