Rating: Summary: A Very Touching Book Review: I think that this book is an excellent testiment to Rachel, her memory, her beliefs and what she stood for and I think that it shows that Rachel wasn't perfect and was(and is) more than a "martyr".
Rating: Summary: Perfectly put together Review: I will state first off that I am not a fundamentalist Christian. But I will say that I found the story of Rachel's life and her journal writings some of the most inspirational pieces I've ever read. I can't believe that someone so young could be so focused and so wise. The book was written in an excellent style- there was commitment and care taken with every word, and it manages to be convicting without being nauseating. I think most of this is due to Rachel herself - we could all learn from her example to be tolerant of others and their beliefs and to try to live each day with love and peace in our hearts. All in all, a beautiful book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book from a very wise young lady! Review: This book will bring tears to your eyes more than once. Rachel Scott was very educated, highly spirited and far beyond her time. This book brings into perspective what she saw around Columbine. Rachel knew more than what most teenages know and will learn. Rachel kept her head high and a smiling face and this book shows all of that. The feelings in this book jump out at you when you read every line and emotion. Once you start reading this book you can't put it down because you just can't wait to find out what everyone was thinking. Rachel was truly blessed and she has helped me, as a teenager, with the reason Columbine happened and the aftermath of the whole situation. Columbine shocked and scared a lot of teenagers all of the US this book has truly helped. I highly recommend this book to anyone especially if you are having difficulties understanding why Columbine even came about or how the parents and teenagers felt about the tragedy.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I think that this is a great book. The story of Rachel's life and her walk with God made me re-think my own walk with the Lord. She was clearly a dedicated Christain who loved God with all of her heart. She struggled with the hardships and temptations that every Christian teenager faces in their life. She understood that God is bigger than any temptation she could ever come across and that He would help her get through those times. I think every struggling Christain or even non-Christain should read this book. It is an awesome book and I enjoyed it very much.
Rating: Summary: Rachel's Tears a winner Review: I own this book and have read it three times now. I bought it when it first came out, I can't remember perhaps I even pre-ordered it. To this day, it still makes me cry. It is such an inspiration to anyone who was at all touched by the story of Rachel Joy Scott, and really to any teenager at all. It has made me realize that no one is alone in this world, we all go through the same similar struggles, and more importantly God is with us through those struggles. People have called Rachel a martyr, and perhaps she was, but we have to focus on the fact that she said yes to God every day, and not just the day of her death. This book helps to bring Rachel to a human level--she was very human, and sometimes for people who didn't know her like myself it is hard to make her human because we hear so much about her. This book is honest, and humbling, and shows the world a beautiful human being who was as "normal" as the rest of us, whatever that means. I highly recommend this book to anyone--whether you were touched by the tragedy or not, this book is a must read!
Rating: Summary: Such Sweet Recollections Review: Such a sad subject, but a very inspirational book. Rachel's love for the Lord God is an example of how God can turn a person's heart when they are willing to let Him. She truly had a desire to serve Him and said so with her last breath. Darrell and Beth, her parents, tell her story and theirs in a very readable way. ......Excellent
Rating: Summary: An Inspiring Tradgedy Review: This book makes you realize how precious life is. Rachel Scott, as well as her family faced so much, and while with her death her family could have been left with nothing except for grief, they were instead left with a tremendous hope. The hope that they have is a result of the person that Rachel was, and the faith that she had. Through the writings of people who were close to Rachel, it is obvious that there is more to the outcome of the Columbine shootings than what first meets the eye. Although there was tradgedy, death, and mourning, there is also perseverence, hope, and triumph. The excerpts from Rachel's diary are motivational to those who are seeking to know God's love more. Her entries show an amazing faith in the God who is in control of every circumstance of her life as well as every circumstance of her death. Rachel's Tears is a book that relates to many different people on many diferent levels. Because the book is written by her mother and father who are divorced, it relates to those from broken homes. The contributions of her brother and sister make a connection for those who have lost either siblings or friends. The person that Rachel has shown herself to be through her journal entries touches those who are struggling to grow closer to God and to find themselves in Him. If you are in a place in your life where you are comfortable, this is not the book for you. It will challenge your views of what life should look like, and you will come to realize that there is a much bigger plan than our own.
Rating: Summary: Opens the Doors of Your Heart;deeply moving. Review: Three years ago, when I was in the fourth grade, I heard about the Columbine High School Massacre. Unfortunately, I let go of my great sorrow, and was in a terribble position of forgetfulness. Although, the tragic event came back to me through church; and the words that others have expressed. I am truly grateful that it became a tremendous impact on my life and the lives of others. Rachel's Tears is a book that enlightens and brightens the spirits of those who read it. It is about the life of an extraordinary teenager who faced struggles that other teenagers have faced; and her courage to endure them, through her intimate and strong relationship with Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father, is entrancing and will always brighten my spirit of how the greatness of human society can be. Rachel's Tears is a book that causes rare realizations of life and the world and peolple around us, to disperse and remain within us. It can enable us to live life through light; of righteousness and true greatness. The love and thoughtfulness towards living creatures, to people, to our world and our beliefs. It taught me that tragedies can be depressing; but they all have purposes that are giving us awakening calls to a better tomorrow (future). It has reminded me that weapons do not thouroughly cause tragedies; it is truthfully because of the decisions people make to go into a black hole of temptation and evil; and if they follow that path, they cannot escape, and they can lead to a terrible death. The words of the book encourage us to remain faithful to what we believe in, remember the lives of the departed, and to try (your best)to lead a good path. It has helped me to possibly start a positive "chain reaction" and be more expressive and insightful towards others. As a Christian, I have become more motivated and connected to God. My gratitude for knowing this book and the lives of others in this book is immeasureable and more valuable than a tresure chest of gold. Her life, Columbine, her family and those who were touched by her life, have had changed lives. I hope you will read it as well, and experience a book that will take you into a "magical kingdom" of inspiration, support and profound understanding. I thank those (greatly) whom have contributed to this book. ...
Rating: Summary: Very moving Review: I was very touched by the story of Rachel's life. Her parents told how she really was - human yet in love with Jesus and life! It really encouraged me that even though I think I am not near where I should be in my walk as a Christian I should still press on because I never know when my moment will come! Rachel struggled just like all of us, but she made the right discion when it counted! I love the things she wrote in her diary - aspecialy the poams. This book is a good tribute to all who lost there live that day!
Rating: Summary: Astounding Review: Rachel's story is one of the most astounding you will hear in your life. Do yourself a favour and read the book or see the story explained on video by her father.
