Summary: Captivating but extremely sensationalized and innacurate.
Review: There are so many obvious inaccuracies in this book. I think the author got a little carried away with making it as dramatic as possible. For example, there is no such thing as female circumcision among Arab bedouins. That is an African tradition. But, it was dramatic and hard to put down....END

Summary: A fascinating read
Review: I had pretty much finished this book the day after I bought it - a record for me! Definitely an engrossing read, if not shocking! As I have an interest in women's rights in Asia, I was not surprised at all the abuse directed at women. What surprised me is that in Saudi Arabia even the wealthy women live restricted lives. Elsewhere such as in my native India, middle and upper class women tend to be somewhat more liberated, whereas it is the poor, illiterate village women who really suffer. For that reason I am not sure how much sympathy I had with the royal princesses who could afford to go to London for shopping at the drop of a hat when there are millions of women who don't know where there next meal is coming from, on top of all the other restrictions they face. Highly recommended.

Summary: Riveting!
Review: A must-read for men and women alike, rich and poor. "Princess" provides an eloquent peek into all of our ancient beginnings, the barbarism, the joy and indescribable the human torture. If you've never been exposed to Arab history, start here. Do not pass go do not collect $200... The other reviewer in this section is right, take the whole day off and read this in one sitting, if not, it will keep you up all night long as it did me.

Summary: Insightful
Review: I truely enjoyed this book. It was very insightful and written well. One can not begin to imagine the trauma Saudi Ariabian women go through on a daily bases. My prayers are with Sultana.

After this book all I can say is "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free."

I encourage everyone to read this book! Well Done

Summary: POWERFUL
Review: this book will capture every emotion the heart holds. you will stay up ALL night to reach the end. sultana will linger on your mind for months to come!!!!

Summary: Fascinating
Review: This story definitely merits the adjectives "fascinating" and "riveting." I was glued to my seat as I read as fast as I could. The glimpses of life behind a black veil make me realize my own life is pretty darn good! As I reflect on the story, I find that I am not totally sympathetic with the main character, who pops into London for a shopping trip, owns three Lear jets, wears diamonds and rubies, destroys a Monet and priceless vase, etc etc. Someday I hope the women of Arabia realize their true power, unite, and rise against their oppressors.

Summary: A really shocking story
Review: I really think that this book is amazing, but you have to be mature to read it, cos if you are not you are going to be shocked when you read "Sultana's" real story. For me was impossible to imagine that a thing like this still hapend in the world nowadays. Now I see arab people with other eyes, but I really do think tath the woman can still fight for rights and win, it will take time but it's not impossible. I admire Sultana and I will keep her thoughts in my mind.

Summary: Are you ready for a shock?
Review: If you are at all interested in human rights, read this book. It is a shocking true story of the physical and emotional torture endured by women in Saudi Arabia, told by an anonymous princess. I liked it because it was told with a calm, human voice; without "screaming," making harsh accusations, or pouring out propaganda. It simply tells of the events of one woman's life and lets you make your own judgements. Princess Sultana's story is horrific, painful, and almost unbelieveable, showing that being a part of a royal family does not exclude one from the sexism and oppression faced by many women of Muslim faith. Includes a glossary, maps, and translated relevent excerpts from the Koran. You won't believe what you read

Summary: An incredible real life story
Review: This book certainly makes for very interesting reading. Jean Sasoon is in a very privleged postion to write this book, as she is a personal friend of "Sultana", a Princess of the royal family of Saudia Arabia. This is Sultana's story, and what you read will certainly shock you. Women of the western world should read this just to make them realise how well off they are!! Sultana describes the lives of her and her sisters in comparism to that of her brother. Whilst they suffer beatings, rapes, arranged marrages to men three times their age, their badly behaved brother is treated like gold. It is a personal story, so as expected the story is very one sided, for a more overall view of the Islamic religion and its effects on women I would suggest reading Price of honour by Jan Goodwin which will help balance the facts. Princess and its sequel are well worth a read, so curl up under a blanket and spend the day being educated about a life far removed from our own

Summary: Fascinating and unforgettable!
Review: I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Anytime I had a moment to read, I reached for this book and was absorbed by the story. I'm ready to read more books by Princess Sultana.

This is a fascinating first-hand look at what women have to go through and live under in countries where life is ruled by men. There isn't any way out of that life except by following or being forced to follow the cruel or oppressive conditions.

This book follows the princess from her girlhood to an arranged marriage and its consequences.

Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in women's rights, their lives and dark secrets in different countries.
