Summary: We love them, Blah, Blah, Blah
Review: Yes, I know- everyone just loves the Beatles. Yes, this big cumbersome book is comprised of quotations from the real four men themselves. But who wants to hear someone talk endlessly about how great they believe themselves to be? The Beach Boys were a great band, but there is a point where "setting the record straight" can slip into self-aggrandizing. There are lots of funny anecdotes in this book if you have the patience to find them. But this is ultimately more than anyone but a staunch completists needs about a rock band.

Summary: Wonderful read
Review: Some may claim that this volume is a bit sugar coated from time to time. It is. They may complain that it completely ignores what was going on in society, and the beatles relation to it. It does. They may call it large, heavy and uncomfortable to read. Again, it is. But despite all of these knocks, I still can't give it less than a perfect rating. The fact is, this is the only extensive "inside" view of the fascinating history of the beatles. I just can't help smile as I read this book. They were the best band ever, and I can't get enough of them telling their own story. The closest you'll get to having a beatle at your dinner party.

If you wan't a book that talks of social importance, and doesn't shy away from some of the darker history, I can't recommend the book "Shout" enough. It's an incredibly well written and informative history. But at the end of the day, I just get more joy out of this book.

Summary: It really is great. Oh, and the Beatles made it themselves.
Review: Maybe you know very little about them Fab Fours. Why did they break up? How did they make such amazing music? How come even your grandma knows the words? OR Maybe you are the consumate fan. You've read everything anyone has written. You have every album. You remember seeing them live. Either way you need this book. It is not easy to read. It's big and heavy and they spent major money on the design and printing of this weighty tome that you will have to fork over some of. It's still worth every bloody penny. You will finally know who they were, why they made music and why they stopped working together. You will be a Beatles know-it-all when you are through. You'll even get a pretty decent glimpse of how the 60's looked and felt. Four kids from Liverpool and how they changed rock and roll and themselves forever. Enjoy.

Summary: WOW!
Review: This book straightens out the entire history of The Beatles. After reading this book front-to-back, you will possess the ultimate Beatles knowledge. I didnt know many things in this book, so it changed the way I look at them. But, it also answered a lot of my questions about them. With stunning photographs from the fab four's archives, this interview tells all in a first-hand account. The one and only negative thing is that it may leave you disappointed, finding out some of the things that they have done.I highly reccomend this book to any Beatle fan.

Summary: They Were So Young and Had It All
Review: That is what my 28 year old son said after going through his Christmas present from me. As a member of the Beatles generation who saw them for the first time on Ed Sullivan, I am so happy my children think The Beatles were as great as I think they are. I stole the book away for a few hours and loved reading their own words about their incredible storybook lives. Wish I had a copy for myself.

Summary: beautiful
Review: This book is beautifully done with some amazing photography and highly detailed stories. You'll be surprised at some of the things that the lads were doing.

Summary: The ultimate chronicle of the Beatles.
Review: This book is like a huge scrapbook of the Beatles. It has pictures, and quotes (from interviews) from Paul,George, and Ringo, and... which makes this really out-of-sight, someone went and looked up quotes of John Lennon, and included them, in context to the subject, as if he were there, being interviewed with the other three Beatles.
Another great thing about this book is that it is in complete chronological order and is accompanied by more pictures than you'd think ever existed of the Beatles.
There is also an index to subjects and songs/albums mentioned in the book. Also included with John,Paul,George, and Ringo's input are quotes from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Neal Aspinall, George Martin, Derek Taylor, Mal Evans, Stuart Stutcliffe, and Brian Epstine. (those quotes are used sparingly, but effectively)
This is a perfect chronicle of the fab-four because it is written by the Beatles themselves!

Summary: excellent!!!!!!!!!!
Review: this was the greatest beatles book i have ever read! i was a new fan of the beatles, but then, by just flipping through, i leatrned so much! it gave me a great insight on the lives of the greatest musicians ever. when i finally sat down and read it for real, the pictures plus the personal accounts (which is way better than somebody else talking about the beatles. as one of them said in the book, i forget which, only they knew what they were going through)told me everything i needed to know about the beatles. i recommend this for all bveatles fans, old or new, as a must-have!!!

Summary: Everything you ever wanted to know... and more
Review: This book is the ultimate guide on the Beatles entire career, the obvious reason for this being that it was written by the Beatles themselves. This thick volume is a must have for any Beatle fan.
I am a huge fan, but when I saw this book in the store and slipped open a page, it looked like it was just a transcript for the Beatles TV program. How wrong I was!
Sure, every once in awhile, you will read words that are in the Anthology TV documentary (like when Ringo talks about the police guard in Montreal) but it is a rare occasion. This is mostly all new material.
This book really gives a lot of information. The part that was most interesting was when they talked about their days in Hamburg. This was great to read about because it really showed me where the beatles came from. This time period is rarely discussed in other Beatles books.
But, my favorite thing about this book is how they so expertly weaved John's words in with the other 3 Beatles. It was almost as if he was there helping them write it. His thoughts were sometimes haunting, sometimes funny and always a pleasure to read. You can tell that he is sorely missed by Paul, George and Ringo.
Please get this book! It has an amazing collection of pictures and collages, details about the creation of such albums as Rubber Soul and The White Album, thoughts on the beginning (and the end) and a chance to see what the Beatles themselves made of the 60's.
A splendid time is guarateed for all!

Summary: in their own words
Review: I just finished reading this book, and was very pleased with it. Yes, the book is a bit heavy, and a lot of the information isn't new, but it was nice to hear the Beatles tell it in their own words. Also, the Beatles and friends opened up their private collections for this book, resulting in a load of never before seen pictures being included here. If you want the Beatles story straight from the source, buy this book!
