Summary: "You've got to carry that weight a long time"
Review: The book was so heavy, I barely got it into the car and house. BUT, was it worth all of the lugging. (I'll return the cart tomorrow, if you don't mind.) As a Beatle fanatic since 1964, I have looked forward to a book like this for a long time...and the wait (weight? - 6 lbs. +) was worth it. I've just paged through it so far to see the layout and to get the "lay of the land", and am glad to see so many previously unpublished and unavailable photos and rememberences. I also like that the interviews have been placed in chronological order, not in some random fashion that have made other books about the Beatles so difficult to follow. Well, gotta go begin my reading, and I'll try to update again when I get through it. One word of caution...If you read in bed and fall asleep with the book on your lap while lying down, you better hope it doesn't hit you in the head...You may never wake up again! Enjoy!!

Summary: A must-have!!!
Review: I have not yet finished this book - I'm savoring it page by page. It is stunning! Beautifully laid out, and the photos are wonderful - there's quite a few I've never seen before. My only disappointment was seeing so much of the video anthology dialogue repeated here but there is ALOT more added as well. Highly recommended by this Beatles fan!

Summary: Fab Four Words
Review: It's The Beatles... Buy it.

Summary: Enough already
Review: Yes, yes, yes: they were the greatest pop band of all time. But does that really mean we have to be constantly reminded of the fact? Please say that we dont.

Anyone of you under 30 (who have had enough of ageing hippies telling us that todays music is 'rubbish') should save their $ and discover something truly exciting. New Music! If the fab four taught us anything, it was to always search for something new. So go out and buy some Beck/Chemical Brothers/Mogwai/Michael Nyman/whatever: just dont buy the feel-good-cash-in-revisionist-history-overpriced book that will follow in its footprints in about, oh, 30 years time.

Great music mind.

Summary: "The Top a Most, of the Pop a Most"
Review: This is the book we have all waited for. For almost 30 years we have waited; and MAN!!! Was it ever worth the wait. This book is at first glance; one of the most beautiful books I've ever held in my hands. The paper used is thick, heavy, and smooth as silk. It's a rather large book, which gives the photographs an impact few books have offered before. Even the shots I've seen before are striking. This is by far the most comprehensive document ever published on the "Fab Four". So many surprises, so many "little" details that only the boys could know. Everything about the "Anthology" project has been done with such loving care, and this book is no exception. The beatles have given the world so much over the past four decades; and now, with this rich impressive chronicle, they give us their own personal recollections of a time when the world was just beginning to learn how to ROCK!!! Thank you, John, Paul, George, Ringo, George Martin, Neil Aspinall, Mal Evans, Derek Taylor, Klas Voorman, and Yoko Ono. This is without doubt; the "Ultimate" book on "The Beatles". Still the most influential band in the history of Rock n' Roll.

Summary: A Piece of History
Review: This is a piece of history made by the history makers themselves. It has some childhood pictures that you've never seen before. The book also provides extensive background information about the band's nonstop club dates and the struggles they had to endure before they finally landed a record deal. Some of the quotes or pictures are from the Anthology but there is much more here which makes this book worth buying. There are photos on just about every single page and some great candid shots taken by the Beatles themselves. This book should keep any Beatles fan entertained and informed.

Summary: More than I expected!
Review: I had my reservations at first, but upon further reflection this the definitive Beatles book. If you don't know anything about the Beatles (or even if you do) this is the one book you should have. My prior reservations were way off.

Summary: Paperback Writer
Review: First of all, I would like to thank Amazon.com for shipping this book in the most timliest of manners, it was greatly appreciated.

Now, although I have been waiting for The Beatles Anthology book to be released for quite some time now, I must admit that it has far exceeded my expectations. Well-written, insightful and bold at times, we now have at last the answers we have been waiting for; whether we like them or not. An obvious must-read for Beatles' fans of all ages, and an veritable textbook for us all, this book is well worth the price. Be ready for some heavy lifting though, and remember to use your legs not your back when you pick it up, lol :-) I hope that anyone who reads this book will enjoy it as much as I am enjoying it...happy reading!

Summary: Wonderful
Review: There is some material in the text, and photos, that we've seen elsewhere. But there are a lot of new interview quotes and photos and documents that are only to be found in this book. It's really a delicious Beatles feast to go through this book. I love it. And there are some new facts I never knew before (did you know George Harrison lost his virginity with John, Paul and Pete Best IN THE ROOM WITH HIM? See p. 54).

This is a must-have for any Beatles fan. Buy it. Or ask Santa Claus to give it to you. I hear he's a Beatles fan, too!
