Rating: Summary: This is a true story about a young boys struggle to survive. Review: When I was reading Dave Pelzer's, A Child Called "It", I could never put it down. This is a true story about a young boy who has probably gone through more pain than any adult has in their life. His mother beats him, doesn't feed him, and plays evil "games" with him whenever she feels like it. The young boy, David, feels like he deserves the punishment so he doesn't tell anyone about it, but he really doesn't deserve itat all. One of the things that she does to him is she makes him strip off his clothes and lay across a burning stove. This is just one of the evil things that she does to him. In my opinion, this book is totally worth reading. It makes you think about how much pain some children go through and how lucky you really are. Personally, I think that people that do this to children should have exactly the same thing done to them. I have also recently finished the follow up book, The Lost Boy, which I also think is a wonderful book and shoule be read right after you finish the first book. So go and get Dave Pelzer's, A Child Called "It", and read it right away. It's worth it! And thank you David for sharing you incredible story with us all!
Rating: Summary: A Child Called "It' Review: This book is very good.I am a freshman in high school.I would like to know what ever happens to your mother?I havent finished the book yet.Our lang.arts teacher is reading it to us.It is a really good book.It has almost made me cry,it has also made me sick. But to over come it all,It is the best book I have ever read.I cant wait to finish and move on to the next ones.I would love to know where is your mom and dad now?Do you see them anymore?
Rating: Summary: Extremely sad. Sad because to know that can still happen Review: I think that this was definately one of the most heartwrenching books I have ever read in my entire life. I think that Dave is a very strong and corageous individual. I give him a lot of credit for enduring what he went through in his life. I feel that it because of what he did go through that it will make a better parent. I also, feel that it take a extremely strong will to survive because with out that will he could not have possibly survived. But i think he should know that both mother and father are to be equally blamed for the childhood he edured. I am a survivor of child abuse physically, emotionally and sexually. I think I have the attitude I have because of what I have been through. My boyfriend just recently tried to committ suicide because of being abused sexually as a young child.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This book was one of his best. I love how he talks about his life open and tells the whole world about his life struggles. I could not put this book down. I finished this book in one night it was great. I think that other people would love this book also.
Rating: Summary: A child who gets beat and tortured. Review: A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer is a great book. Dave Pelzer was the child in the book. He was violenty aboused by his mother. I couldn't believe how awful she treated him. It made me realize how lucky I am.
Rating: Summary: Is My Life Bad Or What? Review: Dave Pelzer's A CHILD CALLED IT was awesome book. I liked how he really went into feelings and told us everything he went through. He had very good details. This is a good book for people who like autobiographical books about people that get abused. This is a book you can really get into. If you liked this book check out his next book THE LOST BOY.
Rating: Summary: Wrongly accused and abused Review: Dave Pelzer wrote an aotobiography about his child hood life and how he was abised by his mother for things like not doing the dishes and not taking our the trash. She (his mother) would punish him by not feeding him, so he would sneek food. Then she would make him perform cruel and unusual punishments. I like this book because it showed how good I really have it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: The abuse that David had to endure was beyond all comprehension. It was very hard on me emotionally and many times I had to stop because my heart was pounding. I felt tremendous anger towards the mother. How could she treat her son like that? But even more powerful was his relentless courage and his will to survive. God Bless you, Dave.
Rating: Summary: An EXCELLENT Book!!! Review: "A Child Called 'It'" is an extremely intriuging book. I recommend it to anyone, anywhere, of any age. It is an excellent story that just jumps out at you and makes your soul long for more. It usually takes me about 3 to 4 weeks to finish a book that is a book that I only read for about 15 minutes before I go to bed. This book I read in 2 days! I just simply couldn't put it down! I read it from 9:00 PM to about 1:00 AM straight! This book knows how to reach down into your soul and make you feel the boy's pain. It really makes you think about your life and how you are treated. I used to think I wasn't treated the greatest, but now I realize even more how well I was treated. Be thankful for your parents!!! I'm looking forward to the sequel, 'The Lost Boy.' This is a great inspirational book! Keep up the good work and good luck in life, Mr. Dave Peltzer!
