Rating: Summary: broke my heart Review: I really fel for David. Even though the Mother was the one who abused him, I found myself really hating his father for doing nothing to help him. I am so glad David has come thorough this like he has. I wish him nothing but the best in his life
Rating: Summary: MUST READ for EVERYONE Who Has ANYTHING To Do With Children Review: Where do I begin? I have never so badly wanted to "pick up" a little boy from the pages of any book and hold him close to me. To take him away from the chapters to follow. I find it a Miracle that this little guy even survived. It's not about just one or years of emotional and physcial abuse but an entire "boy"-hood. Day after Day of torture from a mother who seemed to look constantly for ways to out do herself from the last time. If you are considering purchasing this book-DO IT TODAY...don't wait. Read Davids story and make it a practice to smile and say an encouraging word to every little boy and girl you see, as it just might be your smile, that short instant expression of care and acceptance, that might create a flicker of hope and desire of will inside a child's heart to survive. I am so glad that David wrote the contents of the first chapter as he did or I really don't know if I could have read the rest of the book without going absolutely crazy. I suggest this book to Lawyers-Judges-Congressmen-Teachers-Doctors-Nurses-Child Protection Agencies-Police Officers-Mothers-Fathers-Churches-Sisters-Brothers-To Everyone who has anything at all to do with a single child or many. Read it and Learn. David, if you read this....I Love You and Thank You for sharing your story. I wish you the best of everything and more because "It" is truely a miracle and a gift to all mankind. (hugs)
Rating: Summary: A True Learning Experince Review: I at the age of 12 read this book in a little under 2 hours. Once you start reading a truley heart touching and emotional story like this, You can't help but read the whole thing.I read this book on the night of January 14th of the year 2000. This book was recommended to me bye my sister. At my young age I truley can understand this book of the trilogy better then any adult possibly could, Becuse of my young age and nature. This book has really made me dig deep within myself and realize that you must be greatful for EVEYTHING that isput in front of you and taing simple things for granted like food; and loving parents, is something that should never be taken. This story has in my opinion truley affected the way I think about my life and Mr. Pelzer's story of triumph and hell.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book! Review: I love this book. I stayed up all night because I couldn't put it down. I am studying to be a teacher, and I love Psychology. Which is why I bought it (that and it was cheaper than "Chicken Poop for the Soul.") It made me cry however, and it hurts my heart to know that a mother could do that to her son. I reccomend this book to anyone who was an abused child, going to be/is an educator, or who needs a good cry.

Rating: Summary: Nobody can deny this book tells an incredible story Review: I can't imagine all the emotions Pelzer might've revisited writing this book considering all the emotions I felt merely reading it! It is obvious that Dave Pelzer is an amazing person for all he has gone through, for having the courage & strength to write his story, & for his part in trying to end child abuse. Very easy to read--I FINISHED THE BOOK IN ONE DAY. The story will stay in my heart for a long time. I'll recommend this to everybody including non-readers: NOBODY can deny this book tells an incredible story. I thank Pelzer for telling his story. I look forward to reading the other books of this triology.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't stop crying Review: I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't believe the abuse this poor child endured while his father and brothers just watched. His mother must have had a mental illness. I am so glad David was able to overcome the terrible torture to become a truly wonderful father.
Rating: Summary: amazing Review: coming from a loving family of four with parents that rarely fought things such as this were greek to me. i never knew about abuse of any kind. my ste mother was a foster parent for years when her kids were growing up and she saw things like this first hand. she and i have discuussed this book and how amazing it is that dave survivied with the sure will of his own desire for freedom from such adverse conditions of his childhood. way to go! you are truly a hero.
Rating: Summary: A Book that All Adults Should Read! Review: A Child Called "IT" by Dave Pelzer is an extraordinary book because it spoke to my heart on the reality of Child Abuse and Neglect. I too, was a child and a young adult who was abused every way possible. Except with the neglect aspect. I spend my time now promoting the preventional need to stop such horror. I even went as far as writing a childrens book on the subject. A healing process for me I suppose. The author did a wonderul job in writing in the voice of a child. This is a book that should be read by each and every adult who has children or the young adult who is thinking about having them. Mr. Pelzer definately has my vote and I can not wait to read many more of his books. A Job well done!
Rating: Summary: Way To Go Dave ! Review: I have NEVER read a book that grabbed me the way "A Child Called It","The Lost Boy", & "A Man Named Dave" did!I think every teacher, mother, father, human should read these books. All thru the 3 books I had to keep asking myself "why & how could a mother do this to her child!" Also how can a father just walk out without stopping the abuse! Dave Pelzer is a "HERO"! Anyone who can go thru what he did & still be a good person should be commended!
