Rating: Summary: A Child Called It- Marvelous Review: My book is about a child named David and his suviral during his childhood living with his family. This book is a fanatasic book beccause the child in the book is actually a real person. This book is actualy a autobiography. This book is about a child who is abused by his mother both emotionally and physically. He has to survie through his mother's "games". He tells the reader about the good times which were the times when his mother didn't abuse him. He tells you about his faith in God, and how that kept him alive. I thought this story was marvelous because it may influence a person to help the people who are and those who have experinced something similar.
Rating: Summary: Powerful Review: When I first started reading this book I didn't expect it to be very good. Yet during first chapter I couldn't stop reading it. The things that were done to this boy by his insane mother were almost unbearable to read. The tortures that this little boy went through were because his mother wanted to see him suffer. I was surprised he lived long enough to write this book and to have enough courage to go back to those horrible times and tell about them. I enjoyed this book because of the the way things turned out. I would recommend this book for teenagers so they could see how good their lives are. It certainly made me think of things differently. I was moved by this powerful book and hope all of you who read this review get the chance to read the book.
Rating: Summary: Nonsense Review: This story had got to be pure nonsense. I don't believe a single word, for very obvious reasons.Read it for yourself and see.
Rating: Summary: PRETTY GOOD BOOK Review: I THOUGHT THIS BOOK WAS PRETTY GOOD AND IF I COULD I WOULD BUY EVERY SINGLE BOOK THAT DAVE EVER WROTE!IT MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THE UNFORTUNATE KIDS IN THIS WORLD! I'M 12 YEARS OLD AND I CARE ALOT ABOUT HOMELESS KIDS.
Rating: Summary: Frustration of Child Abuse Review: This is a story of a small child's horrific life of child abuse. The experiences he explains to the reader are totally appalling. Reading this story brought very strong emotions at times. I found myself extremely angry, sad, and frustrated while reading. The first chapter of this book is titled "the rescue". It tells how school officials finally realize this child is severely abused and how they go through the steps of reporting it to the authorities. The child is finally taken from his mother. The proceding chapters begin to tell how the abuse first started and all the occurrences thereafter. The child, a small boy, was abused by his mother. He was abused in several ways. He was burned, starved, beaten, poisoned and thats just to name a few. Whats hard to believe, is the father of the child, allows this to happen and does nothing to stop the mother. I couldn't believe the contents of this book. How this actually can happen in our society. Our society just does not do enough to help the victim. The only thing I didn't like about the book is that the mother never recieved any consequences for her horrific behavior. I am presently reading the sequel to this book and I'm hoping it explains that in there. Therefore, that's why it leaves the reader frustrated and angry. Finally, at the end of the book, it goes on to tell how this child survived this terrible ordeal and is now a successful adult. I encourage everyone to read this. I read this book in one night. I found myself unable to put this book down. My opinion is that every child needs to be heard. Teachers, social workers, doctors, law enforcemnt officials, judges and congressman, please listen, look, and act whenever you suspect abuse is taking place. No human being deserves to endure what this child experienced. We need to push for awareness and much tougher laws on this issue.
Rating: Summary: A Child Called "It" Review: After not having read a book in a very long while, this one knocked my socks off! While the story itself was gruesome and horrible, it was very well written. In fact, I couldn't put it down and read the entire book, cover to cover, in 3 hours. A must read if ever there was one. My heart goes out to David and I want to wish him the best that life has to offer as he most certainly deserves it.
Rating: Summary: T'was simply outstanding Review: What a simply uplifting story. I was amazed at David's courage to get on with hs life. His tale is certainly one the world needs to hear if children like him ever want a chance at a real childhood. His book had me hooked and forced me to not put it down until i was finished. I was crying by the end, and touched at how he still stayed in contact with God and trusted in Him through all he had to go through.
Rating: Summary: Triumph through severe adversity! Review: This book along with Dave's other two books are a must READ! I started reading the book and in two hours I finished-I couldn't put it down. This horrifying story brought tears to my eyes more than once. I just would like to commend Dave for succeeding in his stuggles-In a civil society like ours, it's so difficult to understand the severity of child abuse and mental illness. Abusers are definitely mentally ill, in my opinion and need to be accountable for their actions---regardless. If people were more accountable to others-child abuse would hopefully decrease. As a child abuse victim; it was very difficult for me to read this book...but it was also healing. Victims of child abuse, very rarely detail the life they lived-and oftentimes remain a victim for life. It is clear to me that Dave has strong courage and a stronger will to make this world a better place-inspite of his tragic childhood. Thank you Dave for helping me to deal with the victim within myself-and to face a better tomorrow-because of your inspiring spirit.

Rating: Summary: Survival of David through his life threating situation. Review: When I read this book it gave me the chills because of what David went through. This book is about how Daves mother is really physco and doesn't feed Dave. If Dave does get fed then hes really lucky. Daves mother stabbed him in the chest and, Dave would not dare to cry or else she'll punish him some more. He slept in a army cot in the garage, but he wished that he slept with his dad in the nice warm bed. Daves mother was a nice mom when guests come over, but when the guests left then Dave is in his terrified situation. When he went to school one day the principle called him down to the principles office and the nurse, the principle, his teacher Miss. Moss, and a police officer were all there. They questioned him then the police officer took Dave out of the school, there was these kids playing dodge ball wishing he was lucky and were playing, too. The kids yell "the bad boy is going away". The police officer rubbed his shoulder and said "don't listen to those kids your not in trouble. If you would like to know more about the book you can buy this book "A child called it".
