Summary: Remarkable
Review: I've read Dave's 1st two books and have yet to read the last. I was so moved by Dave's life. I felt so many emotions while reading his childhood story. You see, my husband was sexually abused by his father, and I've had to cope with the effects of it on him ,and my daughter was sexually abused by a stranger. The book was a big help for my daughter, who was ready to deal with the past.It helped her to see that she, like Dave, can surrive! My husband on the other hand is slowly comming to grips with his past. With God's help and more real life stories of survival and incouragement,my husband to can learn to live life to it's fullest. Thank you Dave for being brave enough to expose the truth about child abuse, through your real life story. May God Bless you.

I AM VERY HAPPY THAT HE OVERCAME THE HORRIFIC CRIMES HIS MOTHER DID TO HIM AND BECAME A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY. I HUG MY KIDS A LITTLE HARDER NOW AND ALSO THANK GOD EVERYDAY THAT NO ONE IN MY FAMILY HAS HAD TO LIVE WITH THIS KIND OF TORTURE. GOD BLESS YOU, DAVE.

Summary: A Bite of Reality
Review: This autobiography is definitely interesting, as well as graphic. David Pelzer writes about his life as a story. The way he writes it makes you feel as if you are actually going through the motions, making it very realistic and hard to put down. All through the book I was dying to know what happend at the end, but that's just it...there was no ending. The book starts out with a police officer taking him away from school promising freedom. However, the last part of the book is David talking of how he is going to fight for his life. After the book ends you know nothing of his mother, his siblings or what happens to him...I guess I could buy the other two sequels, but this book totally leaves me hanging. Another thing about the book is that it is confusing. The mother at first treats David as her loving son but all of a sudden she calls him "a bad boy" and treats him worse then any slave. The book offers no explanation to what is happening..it leaves it up to your imagination, a trait that can be viwed eithers as good or bad. I reccomend this book, if your stomach can handle it. Some of the situations and punishments David iS forced to handle are unimaginable, worse punishments then a real human being would ever be able to think up, unless they were crazy. I guess the only way to truly display to you how severely he is treated is to have s you read the book..it might bring some reality into your life. Before reading this I had no idea people can be so cruel and it makes you wonder if this is truly going on now, and we do not know about it. This book is an autobiography, so obviousely it cannot be said that the storyline is bad. It is about a child's life, though unimaginable that a child could survive such beatings. Although this book may be hard to swallow, it was well written and easily understood. This book offers you a survival guide to life. If you are ever faced in a bad situation, think of David who has always had worse, then bear your teeth and grin.

Summary: GOOD JOB DAVE!
Review: A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer is an easy read, but full of idea, advice and emotion. The book goes into detail of how a young Dave Pelzer survived in his years of torment and abuse controled by his mother. The conversation used to show how dreadful Dave's growing up was, shows the reader very specifically the events that occured in his daily life. This story is one that will make your angry at times, happy at times, and cry many times. It is an autobiography explaining how to live being raised as a slave to your own family, and the courage that Dave had to survive. It does not only tell a story, but it educates people on how to live for yourself, and value what you have. This book is short, but contains graphic abuse, given both mentally and physically. People who are not in the mood to cry, should not read this book. Middle school children through adults can read this story, but middle school children may not pick up on small writing style changes used to show Dave's change in emotion. A Child Called "It" is a "never put downer" as well as a good literary piece with a respectable theme. It is an excellent read for enjoyment or education on abusive lifestyles. A Child Called "It" was a fantastic book.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This book was totally amazing. I bought it to read on a trip to Hawaii. I couldn't put it down. With each turning of the page, I felt that things had to get better for him. I cannot comprehend a mother or father who could do those awlful things to a child. I just ordered his two other books to find out how things end up for him. This is a must read for all!

Summary: sad but not great
Review: this was like a horror story. I was disapointed. Dave Pelser was a speaker at my school a few months ago, and he seemed to be really well known so I read his book. It was sick and twisted. I feel bad for him about what happened. But when I heard him talking he insulted teens for their problems. Sorry but I think he should get on with his life, and find something else to write about.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: I had the opportunity to see Dave at a conference and he had all of us spellbound. The fact that this atrocity had taken place is astounding enough and the fact that Dave, even as a child, had the tenactiy to endure and overcome his hellish childhood and survive is truly amazing. I have read both this book and it's sequel and I can truly say they are must read works. It is filled with personal insight to what his "life" was like and how he had the courage to endure. Not everyone who reads these books will believe his story, but I can tell you that while seeing this man before us relaying the events with such conviction and firmness with tears in his eyes made a believer out of me. No one could write books like these and call them fiction. Child abuse is real and the story Dave tells is real. If one person sees the signs after reading these I pray they too have the courage to step in and help their "Dave" out of their abusive situation. You sometimes need to "read between the lines" to find the cause for some actions as they are not clearly visible. I can't wait to get the final book in his trilogy. The saying " What doesn't kill you will make you stronger," truly fits this remarkable human and the people who helped him survive! God bless him!

Summary: It gives others the sense of hope they need.
Review: David Pultzer is without a doubt a strong individual. Rather than run away and hide from his expierience, he has chosen to come forth and share it with others who at this very moment are suffering the same thing. It is my hope that many can learn from this example and have the courage to do the same thing.
